1Thus said Yahweh, Go, and buy a potter’s earthen bottle, and take some of the elders of the people, and of the elders of the priests;
1พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า "จงไปซื้อเหยือกดินของช่างหม้อมาลูกหนึ่ง แล้วพาผู้ใหญ่บางคนของประชาชนและปุโรหิตอาวุโสบางคน
2and go forth to the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the gate Harsith, and proclaim there the words that I shall tell you;
2ไปที่หุบเขาบุตรชายของฮินโนม ตรงทางเข้าประตูตะวันออก และป่าวร้องถ้อยคำที่เราบอกเจ้าไว้นั้น
3and say, Hear the word of Yahweh, kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem: thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring evil on this place, which whoever hears, his ears shall tingle.
3เจ้าจงว่า `ข้าแต่บรรดากษัตริย์แห่งยูดาห์ และชาวกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ขอทรงฟังพระวจนะของพระเยโฮวาห์ พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอลตรัสดังนี้ว่า ดูเถิด เราจะนำเหตุร้ายมาถึงสถานที่นี้ อย่างที่หูของทุกคนที่ได้ยินจะซ่าไป
4Because they have forsaken me, and have estranged this place, and have burned incense in it to other gods, that they didn’t know, they and their fathers and the kings of Judah; and have filled this place with the blood of innocents,
4เพราะว่าประชาชนได้ละทิ้งเรา และได้ห่างเหินไปจากสถานที่นี้ และได้เผาเครื่องหอมในที่นี้เพื่อบูชาแก่พระอื่น ผู้ซึ่งตัวเขาเอง หรือบรรพบุรุษของเขา หรือบรรดากษัตริย์ของยูดาห์ไม่รู้จัก และเพราะเขาได้กระทำให้โลหิตของผู้ไม่มีผิดเต็มในที่นี้
5and have built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons in the fire for burnt offerings to Baal; which I didn’t command, nor spoke it, neither came it into my mind:
5และได้สร้างปูชนียสถานสูงสำหรับพระบาอัล เพื่อจะเผาบุตรชายของเขาเสียในไฟ เป็นเครื่องเผาบูชาแด่พระบาอัล ซึ่งเรามิได้บัญชาหรือให้ประกาศิต หรือได้นึกในใจของเรา
6therefore, behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that this place shall no more be called Topheth, nor The valley of the son of Hinnom, but The valley of Slaughter.
6ฉะนั้น พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า ดูเถิด วันเวลาจะมาถึง เมื่อสถานที่นี้จะไม่มีใครเรียกชื่อว่า โทเฟท หรือหุบเขาบุตรชายของฮินโนมอีก แต่เรียกว่า หุบเขาของการฆ่า
7I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place; and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life: and their dead bodies will I give to be food for the birds of the sky, and for the animals of the earth.
7และในสถานที่นี้เราจะกระทำให้แผนงานของยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็มสูญสิ้นไป และจะกระทำให้เขาทั้งสองล้มลงด้วยดาบต่อหน้าศัตรูของเขาทั้งหลาย และด้วยมือของบรรดาผู้ที่แสวงหาชีวิตของเขา เราจะให้ศพของเขาทั้งหลายเป็นอาหารของนกในอากาศและสัตว์ที่แผ่นดินโลก
8I will make this city an astonishment, and a hissing; everyone who passes thereby shall be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues.
8และเราจะกระทำให้เมืองนี้เป็นที่รกร้าง เป็นสิ่งที่เขาเย้ยหยัน ทุกคนที่ผ่านไปจะตกตะลึง และเย้ยหยันเพราะภัยพิบัติทั้งสิ้นในเมืองนี้
9I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters; and they shall eat everyone the flesh of his friend, in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies, and those who seek their life, shall distress them.
9และเราจะกระทำให้เขาทั้งหลายกินเนื้อของบุตรชายและเนื้อของบุตรสาวของเขา และทุกคนจะกินเนื้อของเพื่อนของเขาในการที่ถูกล้อมและทุกข์ใจ คือที่ซึ่งศัตรูของเขาและผู้ที่แสวงหาชีวิตของเขา ได้ข่มใจเขาทั้งหลาย'
10Then you shall break the bottle in the sight of the men who go with you,
10แล้วเจ้าจงทำเหยือกให้แตกท่ามกลางสายตาของคนที่ไปกับเจ้านั้น
11and shall tell them, Thus says Yahweh of Armies: Even so will I break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, that can’t be made whole again; and they shall bury in Topheth, until there is no place to bury.
11และจงกล่าวแก่เขาทั้งหลายว่า `พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธาตรัสดังนี้ว่า เราจะให้ชนชาตินี้และเมืองนี้แตก เช่นเดียวกับที่คนทำให้ภาชนะของช่างหม้อแตก จนซ่อมแซมไม่ได้อีก เขาจะฝังคนไว้ในโทเฟท จนไม่มีที่อื่นอีกให้ฝัง
12Thus will I do to this place, says Yahweh, and to its inhabitants, even making this city as Topheth:
12พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า เราจะกระทำดังนี้แก่ที่นี้ และแก่ชาวเมืองนี้ กระทำเมืองนี้ให้เหมือนโทเฟท
13and the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses of the kings of Judah, which are defiled, shall be as the place of Topheth, even all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the army of the sky, and have poured out drink offerings to other gods.
13บรรดาเรือนแห่งเยรูซาเล็ม และราชวังทั้งหลายแห่งบรรดากษัตริย์ยูดาห์ จะเป็นมลทินเหมือนสถานโทเฟท เพราะเขาเผาเครื่องหอมให้แก่บรรดาบริวารแห่งฟ้าสวรรค์ และเทเครื่องดื่มถวายแก่พระอื่น บนหลังคาของบรรดาบ้านทั้งปวง'"
14Then came Jeremiah from Topheth, where Yahweh had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of Yahweh’s house, and said to all the people:
14แล้วเยเรมีย์ก็มาจากโทเฟท ที่ซึ่งพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงรับสั่งให้ท่านพยากรณ์นั้น และท่านก็ยืนอยู่ในลานพระนิเวศของพระเยโฮวาห์ และกล่าวแก่ประชาชนทั้งปวงว่า
15Thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will bring on this city and on all its towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it; because they have made their neck stiff, that they may not hear my words.
15"พระเยโฮวาห์จอมโยธา พระเจ้าแห่งอิสราเอล ตรัสว่า ดูเถิด เราจะนำสิ่งร้ายทั้งสิ้นซึ่งเราได้บอกกล่าวไว้ให้ตกอยู่บนเมืองนี้ และบรรดาหัวเมืองขึ้นทั้งสิ้น เพราะเขาทั้งหลายได้แข็งคอของเขา ปฏิเสธไม่ฟังถ้อยคำของเรา"
