1“They say, ‘If a man puts away his wife, and she goes from him, and become another man’s, will he return to her again?’ Wouldn’t that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the prostitute with many lovers; yet return again to me,” says Yahweh.
1"เขาทั้งหลายว่า `ถ้าชายคนใดหย่าภรรยาของตนและเธอก็ไปจากเขาเสีย และไปเป็นภรรยาของชายอีกคนหนึ่ง เขาจะกลับไปหาเธอหรือ แผ่นดินนั้นจะไม่โสโครกมากมายหรือ' แต่เจ้าได้เล่นชู้กับคนรักมากมายแล้ว ถึงกระนั้นเจ้าจงกลับมาหาเรา" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ
2“Lift up your eyes to the bare heights, and see! Where have you not been lain with? You have sat for them by the ways, as an Arabian in the wilderness. You have polluted the land with your prostitution and with your wickedness.
2"จงแหงนหน้าขึ้นสู่บรรดาที่สูงนั้น และดูซี ที่ไหนบ้างที่ไม่มีคนมานอนด้วย เจ้าได้นั่งคอยคนรักของเจ้าอยู่ที่ริมทาง อย่างคนอาระเบียในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เจ้าได้กระทำให้แผ่นดินโสโครกด้วยการแพศยาและความชั่วช้าของเจ้า
3Therefore the showers have been withheld, and there has been no latter rain; yet you have a prostitute’s forehead, you refused to be ashamed.
3เพราะฉะนั้นฝนจึงได้ระงับเสีย และฝนชุกปลายฤดูจึงขาดไป แต่เจ้ามีหน้าผากของหญิงแพศยา เจ้าปฏิเสธไม่ยอมอาย
4Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth?’
4ตั้งแต่เวลานี้เจ้าจะร้องเรียกเรามิใช่หรือว่า `พระบิดาของข้าพระองค์ พระองค์ทรงเป็นผู้ชี้นำตั้งแต่ข้าพระองค์ยังสาวๆ
5“‘Will he retain his anger forever? Will he keep it to the end?’ Behold, you have spoken and have done evil things, and have had your way.”
5พระองค์จะทรงพระพิโรธอยู่เป็นนิตย์หรือ พระองค์จะทรงกริ้วอยู่จนถึงที่สุดปลายหรือ' ดูเถิด เจ้าลั่นวาจาแล้ว แต่เจ้าก็ยังกระทำความชั่วช้าทุกอย่างซึ่งเจ้ากระทำได้"
6Moreover, Yahweh said to me in the days of Josiah the king, “Have you seen that which backsliding Israel has done? She has gone up on every high mountain and under every green tree, and there has played the prostitute.
6พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับข้าพเจ้าในรัชกาลของกษัตริย์โยสิยาห์ว่า "เธอทำอะไรเจ้าเห็นหรือ คืออิสราเอลผู้กลับสัตย์ เธอขึ้นไปบนภูเขาสูงทุกลูก และใต้ต้นไม้เขียวสดทุกต้น แล้วก็ไปเล่นชู้อยู่ที่นั่น
7I said after she had done all these things, ‘She will return to me;’ but she didn’t return; and her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
7เมื่อเธอทำอย่างนี้จนหมดแล้วเรากล่าวว่า `เจ้าจงกลับมาหาเรา' แต่เธอก็ไม่กลับมา และยูดาห์น้องสาวที่ทรยศนั้นก็เห็น
8I saw, when, for this very cause that backsliding Israel had committed adultery, I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce, yet treacherous Judah, her sister, didn’t fear; but she also went and played the prostitute.
8และเราเห็นว่า เพราะเหตุทั้งปวงที่อิสราเอลผู้กลับสัตย์ได้ล่วงประเวณีนั้น เราได้ไล่เธอไปพร้อมกับให้หนังสือหย่า แต่ยูดาห์น้องสาวที่ทรยศนั้นก็ไม่กลัว เธอก็กลับไปเล่นชู้ด้วย
9It happened through the lightness of her prostitution, that the land was polluted, and she committed adultery with stones and with stocks.
9ต่อมาเพราะการแพศยาเป็นการเบาแก่เธอมาก เธอก็กระทำให้แผ่นดินโสโครกไป โดยไปล่วงประเวณีกับศิลากับลำต้น
10Yet for all this her treacherous sister, Judah, has not returned to me with her whole heart, but only in pretense,” says Yahweh.
10แม้ว่าเธอกระทำไปสิ้นอย่างนี้แล้ว ยูดาห์น้องสาวที่ทรยศของเธอก็มิได้หันกลับมาหาเราด้วยสิ้นสุดใจ แต่แสร้งทำเป็นกลับมา" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ
11Yahweh said to me, “Backsliding Israel has shown herself more righteous than treacherous Judah.
11แล้วพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับข้าพเจ้าว่า "อิสราเอลผู้กลับสัตย์ยังสำแดงตัวว่ามีผิดน้อยกว่ายูดาห์ที่ทรยศ
12Go, and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, ‘Return, you backsliding Israel,’ says Yahweh; ‘I will not look in anger on you; for I am merciful,’ says Yahweh. ‘I will not keep anger forever.
12จงไปประกาศถ้อยคำเหล่านี้ไปทางเหนือกล่าวว่า `พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า อิสราเอลผู้กลับสัตย์เอ๋ย กลับมาเถิด เราจะไม่ให้ความกริ้วของเราสวมทับเจ้า เพราะเราประกอบด้วยพระกรุณาคุณ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ เราจะไม่กริ้วเป็นนิตย์
13Only acknowledge your iniquity, that you have transgressed against Yahweh your God, and have scattered your ways to the strangers under every green tree, and you have not obeyed my voice,’ says Yahweh.”
13เพียงแต่ยอมรับความชั่วช้าของเจ้าว่า เจ้าได้ละเมิดต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเจ้า และเที่ยวเอาใจพระอื่นที่ใต้ต้นไม้เขียวสดทุกต้น และเจ้ามิได้เชื่อฟังเสียงของเรา'" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสดังนี้แหละ
14“Return, backsliding children,” says Yahweh; “for I am a husband to you. I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will bring you to Zion.
14พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "ลูกหลานที่กลับสัตย์เอ๋ย กลับมาเถิด เพราะเราแต่งงานกับเจ้าแล้ว เราจะรับเจ้าจากเมืองละคนและจากครอบครัวละสองคน และเราจะนำเจ้ามาถึงศิโยน
15I will give you shepherds according to my heart, who shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.
15และเราจะให้ผู้เลี้ยงแกะคนที่พอใจเราแก่เจ้า ผู้ซึ่งจะเลี้ยงเจ้าด้วยความรู้และความเข้าใจ
16It shall come to pass, when you are multiplied and increased in the land, in those days,” says Yahweh, “they shall say no more, ‘The ark of the covenant of Yahweh!’ neither shall it come to mind; neither shall they remember it; neither shall they miss it; neither shall it be made any more.
16และต่อมาเมื่อเจ้าทวีและเพิ่มขึ้นในแผ่นดินนั้น ในครั้งนั้น" พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "เขาทั้งหลายจะไม่กล่าวอีกว่า `หีบพันธสัญญาแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์' เรื่องนี้จะไม่มีขึ้นในใจ ไม่มีใครระลึกถึง ไม่มีใครนึกถึง จะไม่ทำกันขึ้นอีกเลย
17At that time they shall call Jerusalem ‘The throne of Yahweh;’ and all the nations shall be gathered to it, to the name of Yahweh, to Jerusalem. Neither shall they walk any more after the stubbornness of their evil heart.
17ในครั้งนั้นเขาจะเรียกกรุงเยรูซาเล็มว่า เป็นพระที่นั่งของพระเยโฮวาห์ และบรรดาประชาชาติจะรวบรวมกันเข้ามาหายังพระนามของพระเยโฮวาห์ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และเขาจะไม่ติดตามใจอันชั่วของเขาอย่างดื้อกระด้างอีกต่อไป
18In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the north to the land that I gave for an inheritance to your fathers.
18ในสมัยนั้นวงศ์วานของยูดาห์จะเดินมากับวงศ์วานของอิสราเอล เขาทั้งสองจะรวมกันมาจากแผ่นดินฝ่ายเหนือ มายังแผ่นดินซึ่งเรามอบให้แก่บรรพบุรุษของเจ้าให้เป็นมรดก
19“But I said, ‘How I would put you among the children, and give you a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the armies of the nations!’ and I said, ‘You shall call me “My Father,” and shall not turn away from following me.’
19แต่เรากล่าวว่า `เราจะตั้งเจ้าไว้ท่ามกลางบุตรทั้งหลายของเราอย่างไรดีหนอ และให้แผ่นดินที่น่าปรารถนาแก่เจ้า เป็นมรดกที่สวยงามที่สุดในบรรดาประชาชาติ' และเรากล่าวว่า `เจ้าจะเรียกเราว่า พระบิดาของข้าพระองค์ และจะไม่หันกลับจากการติดตามเรา'"
20“Surely as a wife treacherously departs from her husband, so you have dealt treacherously with me, house of Israel,” says Yahweh.
20พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสว่า "วงศ์วานอิสราเอลเอ๋ย แน่นอนทีเดียวที่ภรรยาทรยศละทิ้งสามีของนางฉันใด เจ้าก็ได้ทรยศต่อเราฉันนั้น"
21A voice is heard on the bare heights, the weeping and the petitions of the children of Israel; because they have perverted their way, they have forgotten Yahweh their God.
21เขาได้ยินเสียงมาจากที่สูง เป็นเสียงร้องไห้และเสียงวิงวอนของบุตรทั้งหลายของอิสราเอล เพราะเขาได้แปรวิถีของเขาเสียแล้ว เขาได้ลืมพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเขา
22Return, you backsliding children, I will heal your backsliding. “Behold, we have come to you; for you are Yahweh our God.
22"บรรดาบุตรที่กลับสัตย์เอ๋ย จงกลับมาเถิด เราจะรักษาความสัตย์ของเจ้าให้หาย" "ดูเถิด ข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายมาหาพระองค์แล้ว เพราะพระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของข้าพระองค์
23Truly in vain is help from the hills, the tumult on the mountains. Truly the salvation of Israel is in Yahweh our God.
23แท้จริงความหวังว่าจะได้ความรอดจากเนินเขาและจากภูเขาหลายลูกก็เป็นความไร้สาระ แท้จริงความรอดของอิสราเอลนั้นอยู่ในพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา
24But the shameful thing has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
24แต่ว่าสิ่งที่น่าอายนั้นได้กัดกินสิ่งทั้งปวงที่บรรพบุรุษของเราได้ลงแรงทำไว้ ตั้งแต่เรายังเป็นเด็กอนุชนอยู่ คือฝูงแกะ ฝูงวัว บุตรชาย และบุตรสาวทั้งหลายของเขา
25Let us lie down in our shame, and let our confusion cover us; for we have sinned against Yahweh our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even to this day. We have not obeyed the voice of Yahweh our God.”
25ให้เรานอนลงจมในความอายของเรา และให้ความอัปยศคลุมเราไว้ เพราะเราได้กระทำบาปต่อพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเรา ทั้งตัวเราและบรรพบุรุษของเรา ตั้งแต่เราเป็นอนุชนอยู่จนทุกวันนี้ และเราหาได้เชื่อฟังพระสุรเสียงแห่งพระเยโฮวาห์พระเจ้าของเราไม่"
