¹but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

²Now very early in the morning, he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him. He sat down, and taught them.

²ในตอนเช้าตรู่พระองค์เสด็จเข้าในพระวิหารอีก และคนทั้งหลายพากันมาหาพระองค์ พระองค์ก็ประทับนั่งและสั่งสอนเขา

³The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman taken in adultery. Having set her in the midst,

³พวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสีได้พาผู้หญิงคนหนึ่งมาหาพระองค์ หญิงผู้นี้ถูกจับฐานล่วงประเวณี และเมื่อเขาให้หญิงผู้นี้ยืนอยู่ท่ามกลางฝูงชน

⁴they told him, “Teacher, we found this woman in adultery, in the very act.

⁴เขาทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระอาจารย์เจ้าข้า หญิงคนนี้ถูกจับเมื่อกำลังล่วงประเวณีอยู่

⁵Now in our law, Moses commanded us to stone such. Leviticus 20:10; Deuteronomy 22:22 What then do you say about her?”

⁵ในพระราชบัญญัตินั้นโมเสสสั่งให้เราเอาหินขว้างคนเช่นนี้ให้ตาย ส่วนท่านจะว่าอย่างไรในเรื่องนี้"

⁶They said this testing him, that they might have something to accuse him of. But Jesus stooped down, and wrote on the ground with his finger.

⁶เขาพูดอย่างนี้เพื่อทดลองพระองค์ หวังจะหาเหตุฟ้องพระองค์ แต่พระเยซูทรงน้อมพระกายลงเอานิ้วพระหัตถ์เขียนที่ดิน เหมือนดั่งว่าพระองค์ไม่ได้ยินพวกเขาเลย

⁷But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.”

⁷และเมื่อพวกเขายังทูลถามพระองค์อยู่เรื่อยๆ พระองค์ก็ทรงลุกขึ้นและตรัสกับเขาว่า "ผู้ใดในพวกท่านที่ไม่มีบาป ก็ให้ผู้นั้นเอาหินขว้างเขาก่อน"

⁸Again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground.

⁸แล้วพระองค์ก็ทรงน้อมพระกายลงและเอานิ้วพระหัตถ์เขียนที่ดินอีก

⁹They, when they heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the oldest, even to the last. Jesus was left alone with the woman where she was, in the middle.

⁹และเมื่อเขาทั้งหลายได้ยินดังนั้น จึงรู้สำนึกโดยใจวินิจฉัยผิดชอบ เขาทั้งหลายจึงออกไปทีละคนๆ เริ่มจากคนเฒ่าคนแก่จนหมด เหลือแต่พระเยซูตามลำพังกับหญิงที่ยังยืนอยู่ที่นั้น

¹⁰Jesus, standing up, saw her and said, “Woman, where are your accusers? Did no one condemn you?”

¹⁰เมื่อพระเยซูทรงลุกขึ้นแล้ว และมิได้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นผู้ใด เห็นแต่หญิงผู้นั้น พระองค์ตรัสกับนางว่า "หญิงเอ๋ย พวกเขาที่ฟ้องเจ้าไปไหนหมด ไม่มีใครเอาโทษเจ้าหรือ"

¹¹She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way. From now on, sin no more.”

¹¹นางนั้นทูลว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ไม่มีผู้ใดเลย" และพระเยซูตรัสกับนางว่า "เราก็ไม่เอาโทษเจ้าเหมือนกัน จงไปเถิด และอย่าทำบาปอีก"

¹²Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Isaiah 60:1 He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

¹²อีกครั้งหนึ่งพระเยซูตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "เราเป็นความสว่างของโลก ผู้ที่ตามเรามาจะไม่เดินในความมืด แต่จะมีความสว่างแห่งชีวิต"

¹³The Pharisees therefore said to him, “You testify about yourself. Your testimony is not valid.”

¹³พวกฟาริสีจึงกล่าวกับพระองค์ว่า "ท่านเป็นพยานให้แก่ตัวเอง คำพยานของท่านไม่เป็นความจริง"

¹⁴Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, for I know where I came from, and where I am going; but you don’t know where I came from, or where I am going.

¹⁴พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาว่า "แม้เราเป็นพยานให้แก่ตัวเราเอง คำพยานของเราก็เป็นความจริง เพราะเรารู้ว่าเรามาจากไหนและจะไปที่ไหน แต่พวกท่านไม่รู้ว่าเรามาจากไหนและจะไปที่ไหน

¹⁵ You judge according to the flesh. I judge no one.

¹⁵ท่านทั้งหลายย่อมพิพากษาตามเนื้อหนัง เรามิได้พิพากษาผู้ใด

¹⁶ Even if I do judge, my judgment is true, for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.

¹⁶แต่ถึงแม้ว่าเราจะพิพากษา การพิพากษาของเราก็ถูกต้อง เพราะเรามิได้พิพากษาโดยลำพัง แต่เราพิพากษาร่วมกับพระบิดาผู้ทรงใช้เรามา

¹⁷ It’s also written in your law that the testimony of two people is valid. Deuteronomy 17:6; 19:15

¹⁷ในพระราชบัญญัติของท่านก็มีคำเขียนไว้ว่า `คำพยานของสองคนก็เป็นความจริง'

¹⁸ I am one who testifies about myself, and the Father who sent me testifies about me.”

¹⁸เราเป็นพยานให้แก่ตัวเราเองและพระบิดาผู้ทรงใช้เรามาก็เป็นพยานให้แก่เรา"

¹⁹They said therefore to him, “Where is your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither me, nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also.”

¹⁹เหตุฉะนั้นเขาจึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "พระบิดาของท่านอยู่ที่ไหน" พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "ตัวเราก็ดี พระบิดาของเราก็ดี ท่านทั้งหลายไม่รู้จัก ถ้าท่านรู้จักเรา ท่านก็จะรู้จักพระบิดาของเราด้วย"

²⁰Jesus spoke these words in the treasury, as he taught in the temple. Yet no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.

²⁰พระเยซูตรัสคำเหล่านี้ที่คลังเงิน เมื่อกำลังทรงสั่งสอนอยู่ในพระวิหาร แต่ไม่มีผู้ใดจับกุมพระองค์ เพราะว่ายังไม่ถึงกำหนดเวลาของพระองค์

²¹Jesus said therefore again to them, “I am going away, and you will seek me, and you will die in your sins. Where I go, you can’t come.”

²¹พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาอีกว่า "เราจะจากไป และท่านทั้งหลายจะแสวงหาเรา และจะตายในการบาปของท่าน ที่ซึ่งเราจะไปนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจะไปไม่ได้"

²²The Jews therefore said, “Will he kill himself, that he says, ‘Where I am going, you can’t come?’ ”

²²พวกยิวจึงพูดกันว่า "เขาจะฆ่าตัวตายหรือ เพราะเขาพูดว่า `ที่ซึ่งเราจะไปนั้นท่านทั้งหลายจะไปไม่ได้'"

²³He said to them, “You are from beneath. I am from above. You are of this world. I am not of this world.

²³พระองค์ตรัสกับเขาว่า "ท่านทั้งหลายมาจากเบื้องล่าง เรามาจากเบื้องบน ท่านเป็นของโลกนี้ เราไม่ได้เป็นของโลกนี้

²⁴ I said therefore to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am or, I AM he, you will die in your sins.”

²⁴เราจึงบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ท่านจะตายในการบาปของท่าน เพราะว่าถ้าท่านมิได้เชื่อว่าเราเป็นผู้นั้น ท่านจะต้องตายในการบาปของตัว"

²⁵They said therefore to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.

²⁵เขาจึงถามพระองค์ว่า "ท่านคือใครเล่า" พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "เราเป็นดังที่เราได้บอกท่านทั้งหลายแต่แรกนั้น

²⁶ I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you. However he who sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these I say to the world.”

²⁶เราก็ยังมีเรื่องอีกมากที่จะพูดและพิพากษาท่าน แต่พระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามานั้นทรงเป็นสัตย์จริง และสิ่งที่เราได้ยินจากพระองค์ เรากล่าวแก่โลก"

²⁷They didn’t understand that he spoke to them about the Father.

²⁷เขาทั้งหลายไม่เข้าใจว่าพระองค์ตรัสกับเขาถึงเรื่องพระบิดา

²⁸Jesus therefore said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself, but as my Father taught me, I say these things.

²⁸พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "เมื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะได้ยกบุตรมนุษย์ขึ้นไว้แล้ว เมื่อนั้นท่านก็จะรู้ว่าเราคือผู้นั้น และรู้ว่าเรามิได้ทำสิ่งใดตามใจชอบ แต่พระบิดาได้ทรงสอนเราอย่างไร เราจึงกล่าวอย่างนั้น

²⁹ He who sent me is with me. The Father hasn’t left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”

²⁹และพระองค์ผู้ทรงใช้เรามาก็ทรงสถิตอยู่กับเรา พระบิดามิได้ทรงทิ้งเราไว้ตามลำพัง เพราะว่าเราทำตามชอบพระทัยพระองค์เสมอ"

³⁰As he spoke these things, many believed in him.

³⁰เมื่อพระองค์ตรัสดังนี้ก็มีคนเป็นอันมากเชื่อในพระองค์

³¹Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples.

³¹พระเยซูจึงตรัสกับพวกยิวที่เชื่อในพระองค์แล้วว่า "ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายดำรงอยู่ในคำของเรา ท่านก็เป็นสาวกของเราอย่างแท้จริง

³² You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” Psalm 119:45

³²และท่านทั้งหลายจะรู้จักความจริง และความจริงนั้นจะทำให้ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นไทย"

³³They answered him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, ‘You will be made free?’ ”

³³เขาทั้งหลายทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "เราสืบเชื้อสายมาจากอับราฮัมและไม่เคยเป็นทาสใครเลย เหตุไฉนท่านจึงกล่าวว่า `ท่านทั้งหลายจะเป็นไทย'"

³⁴Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.

³⁴พระเยซูตรัสตอบเขาทั้งหลายว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ทุกคนที่ทำบาปก็เป็นทาสของบาป

³⁵ A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever.

³⁵ทาสนั้นมิได้อยู่ในครัวเรือนตลอดไป พระบุตรต่างหากอยู่ตลอดไป

³⁶ If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

³⁶เหตุฉะนั้นถ้าพระบุตรจะทรงกระทำให้ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นไทย ท่านก็จะเป็นไทยจริงๆ

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham’s seed, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.

³⁷เรารู้ว่าท่านทั้งหลายเป็นเชื้อสายของอับราฮัม แต่ท่านก็หาโอกาสที่จะฆ่าเราเสีย เพราะคำของเราไม่มีโอกาสเข้าสู่ใจของท่าน

³⁸ I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.”

³⁸เราพูดสิ่งที่เราได้เห็นจากพระบิดาของเรา และท่านทำสิ่งที่ท่านได้เห็นจากพ่อของท่าน"

³⁹They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham.

³⁹เขาทั้งหลายจึงทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "อับราฮัมเป็นบิดาของเรา" พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาทั้งหลายว่า "ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายเป็นบุตรของอับราฮัมแล้ว ท่านก็จะทำสิ่งที่อับราฮัมได้กระทำ

⁴⁰ But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this.

⁴⁰แต่บัดนี้ท่านทั้งหลายหาโอกาสที่จะฆ่าเรา ซึ่งเป็นผู้ที่ได้บอกท่านถึงความจริงที่เราได้ยินมาจากพระเจ้า อับราฮัมมิได้กระทำอย่างนี้

⁴¹ You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.”

⁴¹ท่านทั้งหลายย่อมทำสิ่งที่พ่อของท่านทำ" เขาจึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "เรามิได้เกิดจากการล่วงประเวณี เรามีพระบิดาองค์เดียวคือพระเจ้า"

⁴²Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.

⁴²พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "ถ้าพระเจ้าเป็นพระบิดาของท่านแล้ว ท่านก็จะรักเรา เพราะเรามาจากพระเจ้าและอยู่นี่แล้ว เรามิได้มาตามใจชอบของเราเอง แต่พระองค์นั้นทรงใช้เรามา

⁴³ Why don’t you understand my speech? Because you can’t hear my word.

⁴³เหตุไฉนท่านจึงไม่เข้าใจถ้อยคำที่เราพูด นั่นเป็นเพราะท่านทนฟังคำของเราไม่ได้

⁴⁴ You are of your father, the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and doesn’t stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks on his own; for he is a liar, and its father.

⁴⁴ท่านทั้งหลายมาจากพ่อของท่านคือพญามาร และท่านใคร่จะทำตามความปรารถนาของพ่อท่าน มันเป็นผู้ฆ่าคนตั้งแต่เดิมมา และมิได้ตั้งอยู่ในความจริง เพราะความจริงมิได้อยู่ในมัน เมื่อมันพูดมุสามันก็พูดตามสันดานของมันเอง เพราะมันเป็นผู้มุสา และเป็นพ่อของการมุสา

⁴⁵ But because I tell the truth, you don’t believe me.

⁴⁵แต่ท่านทั้งหลายมิได้เชื่อเรา เพราะเราพูดความจริง

⁴⁶ Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?

⁴⁶มีผู้ใดในพวกท่านหรือที่ชี้ให้เห็นว่าเราได้ทำบาป และถ้าเราพูดความจริง ทำไมท่านจึงไม่เชื่อเรา

⁴⁷ He who is of God hears the words of God. For this cause you don’t hear, because you are not of God.”

⁴⁷ผู้ที่มาจากพระเจ้าก็ย่อมฟังพระวจนะของพระเจ้า เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจึงไม่ฟัง เพราะท่านทั้งหลายมิได้มาจากพระเจ้า"

⁴⁸Then the Jews answered him, “Don’t we say well that you are a Samaritan, and have a demon?”

⁴⁸พวกยิวจึงทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "ที่เราพูดว่า ท่านเป็นชาวสะมาเรียและมีผีสิงนั้น ไม่จริงหรือ"

⁴⁹Jesus answered, “I don’t have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.

⁴⁹พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "เราไม่มีผีสิง แต่ว่าเราถวายพระเกียรติแด่พระบิดาของเรา และท่านลบหลู่เกียรติเรา

⁵⁰ But I don’t seek my own glory. There is one who seeks and judges.

⁵⁰เรามิได้แสวงหาเกียรติของเราเอง แต่มีผู้หาให้ และพระองค์นั้นจะทรงพิพากษา

⁵¹ Most certainly, I tell you, if a person keeps my word, he will never see death.”

⁵¹เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ถ้าผู้ใดประพฤติตามคำของเรา ผู้นั้นจะไม่ประสบความตายเลย"

⁵²Then the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and you say, ‘If a man keeps my word, he will never taste of death.’

⁵²พวกยิวจึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "เดี๋ยวนี้เรารู้แล้วว่าท่านมีผีสิง อับราฮัมและพวกศาสดาพยากรณ์ก็ตายแล้ว และท่านพูดว่า `ถ้าผู้ใดประพฤติตามคำของเรา ผู้นั้นจะไม่ชิมความตายเลย'

⁵³Are you greater than our father, Abraham, who died? The prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?”

⁵³ท่านเป็นใหญ่กว่าอับราฮัมบิดาของเราที่ตายไปแล้วหรือ พวกศาสดาพยากรณ์นั้นก็ตายไปแล้วด้วย ท่านอวดอ้างว่าท่านเป็นผู้ใดเล่า"

⁵⁴Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God.

⁵⁴พระเยซูตรัสตอบว่า "ถ้าเราให้เกียรติแก่ตัวเราเอง เกียรติของเราก็ไม่มีความหมาย พระองค์ผู้ทรงให้เกียรติแก่เรานั้นคือพระบิดาของเรา ผู้ซึ่งพวกท่านกล่าวว่าเป็นพระเจ้าของพวกท่าน

⁵⁵ You have not known him, but I know him. If I said, ‘I don’t know him,’ I would be like you, a liar. But I know him, and keep his word.

⁵⁵ท่านไม่รู้จักพระองค์ แต่เรารู้จักพระองค์ และถ้าเรากล่าวว่าเราไม่รู้จักพระองค์ เราก็เป็นคนมุสาเหมือนกับท่าน แต่เรารู้จักพระองค์ และประพฤติตามพระดำรัสของพระองค์

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. He saw it, and was glad.”

⁵⁶อับราฮัมบิดาของท่านชื่นชมยินดีที่จะได้เห็นวันของเรา และท่านก็ได้เห็นแล้วและมีความยินดี"

⁵⁷The Jews therefore said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”

⁵⁷พวกยิวก็ทูลพระองค์ว่า "ท่านอายุยังไม่ถึงห้าสิบปี และท่านเคยเห็นอับราฮัมหรือ"

⁵⁸Jesus said to them, “Most certainly, I tell you, before Abraham came into existence, I AM. or, I am ”

⁵⁸พระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ก่อนอับราฮัมเกิดนั้นเราเป็นอยู่แล้ว"

⁵⁹Therefore they took up stones to throw at him, but Jesus was hidden, and went out of the temple, having gone through their midst, and so passed by.

⁵⁹คนเหล่านั้นจึงหยิบก้อนหินจะขว้างพระองค์ แต่พระเยซูทรงหลบและเสด็จออกไปจากพระวิหาร เสด็จผ่านท่ามกลางเขาเหล่านั้น
