¹At that time, Herod the tetrarch heard the report concerning Jesus,

¹ครั้งนั้นเฮโรดเจ้าเมืองได้ยินกิตติศัพท์ของพระเยซู

²and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptizer. He is risen from the dead. That is why these powers work in him.”

²จึงกล่าวแก่พวกคนใช้ของท่านว่า "ผู้นี้แหละเป็นยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมา ท่านได้เป็นขึ้นมาจากความตายแล้ว เหตุฉะนั้นท่านจึงกระทำการอิทธิฤทธิ์ได้"

³For Herod had laid hold of John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife.

³ด้วยว่าเฮโรดได้จับยอห์นมัดแล้วขังคุกไว้ เพราะเห็นแก่นางเฮโรเดียสภรรยาของฟีลิปน้องชายของตน

⁴For John said to him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

⁴เพราะยอห์นเคยทูลท่านว่า "ท่านผิดพระราชบัญญัติที่รับนางมาเป็นภรรยา"

⁵When he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

⁵ถึงเฮโรดอยากจะฆ่ายอห์นก็กลัวประชาชน ด้วยว่าเขาทั้งหลายนับถือยอห์นว่าเป็นศาสดาพยากรณ์

⁶But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced among them and pleased Herod.

⁶แต่เมื่อวันฉลองวันกำเนิดของเฮโรดมาถึง บุตรสาวนางเฮโรเดียสก็เต้นรำต่อหน้าเขาทั้งหลาย ทำให้เฮโรดชอบใจ

⁷Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatever she should ask.

⁷เฮโรดจึงสัญญาโดยปฏิญาณว่า เธอจะขอสิ่งใดๆ ก็จะให้สิ่งนั้น

⁸She, being prompted by her mother, said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptizer.”

⁸บุตรสาวก็ทูลตามที่มารดาได้สั่งไว้แล้วว่า "ขอศีรษะยอห์นผู้ให้รับบัพติศมาใส่ถาดมาให้หม่อมฉันที่นี่เพคะ"

⁹The king was grieved, but for the sake of his oaths, and of those who sat at the table with him, he commanded it to be given,

⁹ฝ่ายกษัตริย์เฮโรดก็เศร้าใจ แต่เพราะเหตุที่ได้ปฏิญาณไว้และเพราะเห็นแก่พวกที่เอนกายลงรับประทานด้วยกันกับท่าน จึงออกคำสั่งอนุญาตให้

¹⁰and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

¹⁰แล้วก็ใช้คนไปตัดศีรษะยอห์นในคุก

¹¹His head was brought on a platter, and given to the young lady: and she brought it to her mother.

¹¹เขาจึงเอาศีรษะของยอห์นใส่ถาดมาให้หญิงสาวนั้น หญิงสาวนั้นก็เอาไปให้มารดา

¹²His disciples came, and took the body, and buried it; and they went and told Jesus.

¹²ฝ่ายพวกสาวกของยอห์นก็มารับเอาศพไปฝังไว้ แล้วก็มาทูลพระเยซูให้ทรงทราบ

¹³Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat, to a deserted place apart. When the multitudes heard it, they followed him on foot from the cities.

¹³เมื่อพระเยซูได้ทรงทราบแล้ว พระองค์จึงลงเรือเสด็จไปจากที่นั่น ไปยังที่เปลี่ยวแต่ลำพังพระองค์ เมื่อประชาชนทั้งปวงทราบ เขาก็ออกจากเมืองต่างๆเดินตามพระองค์ไป

¹⁴Jesus went out, and he saw a great multitude. He had compassion on them, and healed their sick.

¹⁴ครั้นพระเยซูเสด็จขึ้นจากเรือแล้ว ก็ทอดพระเนตรเห็นประชาชนหมู่ใหญ่ พระองค์ทรงสงสารเขา จึงได้ทรงรักษาคนป่วยของเขาให้หาย

¹⁵When evening had come, his disciples came to him, saying, “This place is deserted, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves food.”

¹⁵ครั้นเวลาเย็นแล้วพวกสาวกของพระองค์มาทูลพระองค์ว่า "ที่นี่กันดารอาหารนัก และบัดนี้ก็เย็นลงมากแล้ว ขอพระองค์ทรงให้ประชาชนไปเสียเถิด เพื่อเขาจะได้ไปซื้ออาหารตามหมู่บ้าน"

¹⁶But Jesus said to them, “They don’t need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

¹⁶ฝ่ายพระเยซูตรัสกับพวกสาวกว่า "เขาไม่จำเป็นต้องไปจากที่นี่ พวกท่านจงเลี้ยงเขาเถิด"

¹⁷They told him, “We only have here five loaves and two fish.”

¹⁷พวกสาวกจึงทูลพระองค์ว่า "ที่นี่พวกข้าพระองค์มีแต่ขนมปังเพียงห้าก้อนกับปลาสองตัวเท่านั้น"

¹⁸He said, “Bring them here to me.”

¹⁸พระองค์จึงตรัสว่า "เอาอาหารนั้นมาให้เราเถิด"

¹⁹He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass; and he took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, broke and gave the loaves to the disciples, and the disciples gave to the multitudes.

¹⁹แล้วพระองค์ทรงสั่งให้คนเหล่านั้นนั่งลงที่หญ้า เมื่อทรงรับขนมปังห้าก้อนกับปลาสองตัวนั้นแล้ว ก็ทรงแหงนพระพักตร์ดูฟ้าสวรรค์ ทรงขอบพระคุณ และหักขนมปังส่งให้เหล่าสาวก เหล่าสาวกก็แจกให้คนทั้งปวง

²⁰They all ate, and were filled. They took up twelve baskets full of that which remained left over from the broken pieces.

²⁰เขาได้กินอิ่มทุกคน ส่วนเศษอาหารที่ยังเหลือนั้น เขาเก็บไว้ได้ถึงสิบสองกระบุงเต็ม

²¹Those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

²¹ฝ่ายคนที่ได้รับประทานอาหารนั้นมีผู้ชายประมาณห้าพันคน มิได้นับผู้หญิงและเด็ก

²²Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat, and to go ahead of him to the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

²²ในทันใดนั้นพระเยซูได้ตรัสให้เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์ลงเรือข้ามฟากไปก่อน ส่วนพระองค์ทรงรอส่งประชาชนกลับบ้าน

²³After he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. When evening had come, he was there alone.

²³และเมื่อให้ประชาชนเหล่านั้นไปหมดแล้ว พระองค์เสด็จขึ้นไปบนภูเขาโดยลำพังเพื่อจะอธิษฐาน เวลาก็ดึกลง พระองค์ยังทรงอยู่ที่นั่นแต่ผู้เดียว

²⁴But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, distressed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.

²⁴แต่ขณะนั้นเรืออยู่กลางทะเลแล้ว และถูกคลื่นโคลงเพราะทวนลมอยู่

²⁵In the fourth watch of the night, The night was equally divided into four watches, so the fourth watch is approximately 3:00 A. M. to sunrise. Jesus came to them, walking on the sea. see Job 9:8

²⁵ครั้นเวลาสามยามเศษ พระเยซูจึงทรงดำเนินบนน้ำทะเลไปยังเหล่าสาวก

²⁶When the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It’s a ghost!” and they cried out for fear.

²⁶เมื่อเหล่าสาวกเห็นพระองค์ทรงดำเนินมาบนทะเล เขาก็ตกใจนัก พูดกันว่า "เป็นผี" เขาจึงร้องอึงไปเพราะกลัว

²⁷But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying “Cheer up! It is I! or, I AM! Don’t be afraid.”

²⁷ในทันใดนั้นพระเยซูตรัสกับเขาว่า "จงชื่นใจเถิด คือเราเอง อย่ากลัวเลย"

²⁸Peter answered him and said, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the waters.”

²⁸ฝ่ายเปโตรจึงทูลตอบพระองค์ว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ถ้าเป็นพระองค์แน่แล้ว ขอทรงโปรดให้ข้าพระองค์เดินบนน้ำไปหาพระองค์"

²⁹He said, “Come!” Peter stepped down from the boat, and walked on the waters to come to Jesus.

²⁹พระองค์ตรัสว่า "มาเถิด" เมื่อเปโตรลงจากเรือแล้ว เขาก็เดินบนน้ำไปหาพระเยซู

³⁰But when he saw that the wind was strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”

³⁰แต่เมื่อเขาเห็นลมพัดแรงก็กลัว และเมื่อกำลังจะจมก็ร้องว่า "พระองค์เจ้าข้า ช่วยข้าพระองค์ด้วย"

³¹Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand, took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

³¹ในทันใดนั้นพระเยซูทรงเอื้อมพระหัตถ์จับเขาไว้ แล้วตรัสกับเขาว่า "โอ คนมีความเชื่อน้อย เจ้าสงสัยทำไม"

³²When they got up into the boat, the wind ceased.

³²เมื่อพระองค์กับเปโตรขึ้นเรือแล้ว ลมก็เงียบลง

³³Those who were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, “You are truly the Son of God!”

³³เขาทั้งหลายที่อยู่ในเรือจึงมานมัสการพระองค์ทูลว่า "พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้าจริงแล้ว"

³⁴When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

³⁴ครั้นพวกเขาข้ามฟากไปแล้ว ก็มาถึงแขวงเยนเนซาเรท

³⁵When the people of that place recognized him, they sent into all that surrounding region, and brought to him all who were sick,

³⁵เมื่อคนในสถานที่นั้นรู้จักพระองค์แล้วก็ใช้คนไปบอกกล่าวทั่วแคว้นนั้น ต่างก็พาบรรดาคนเจ็บป่วยมาเฝ้าพระองค์

³⁶and they begged him that they might just touch the fringe or, tassel of his garment. As many as touched it were made whole.

³⁶เขาทูลอ้อนวอนขอพระองค์โปรดให้เขาได้แตะต้องแต่ชายฉลองพระองค์เท่านั้น และผู้ใดได้แตะต้องแล้วก็หายป่วยบริบูรณ์ดีทุกคน
