¹Seeing the multitudes, he went up onto the mountain. When he had sat down, his disciples came to him.

¹ครั้นทอดพระเนตรเห็นคนมากดังนั้น พระองค์ก็เสด็จขึ้นไปบนภูเขา และเมื่อประทับแล้ว เหล่าสาวกของพระองค์มาเฝ้าพระองค์

²He opened his mouth and taught them, saying,

²และพระองค์ทรงตรัสสอนเขาว่า

³ “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Isaiah 57:15; 66:2

³"บุคคลผู้ใดรู้สึกบกพร่องฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์เป็นของเขา

⁴ Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Isaiah 61:2; 66:10,13

⁴บุคคลผู้ใดโศกเศร้า ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าเขาจะได้รับการทรงปลอบประโลม

⁵ Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth. or, land. Psalm 37:11

⁵บุคคลผู้ใดมีใจอ่อนโยน ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าเขาจะได้รับแผ่นดินโลกเป็นมรดก

⁶ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.

⁶บุคคลผู้ใดหิวกระหายความชอบธรรม ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าเขาจะได้อิ่มบริบูรณ์

⁷ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

⁷บุคคลผู้ใดมีใจกรุณา ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าเขาจะได้รับพระกรุณา

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

⁸บุคคลผู้ใดมีใจบริสุทธิ์ ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าเขาจะได้เห็นพระเจ้า

⁹ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.

⁹บุคคลผู้ใดสร้างสันติ ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าจะได้เรียกเขาว่าเป็นบุตรของพระเจ้า

¹⁰ Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

¹⁰บุคคลผู้ใดต้องถูกข่มเหงเพราะเหตุความชอบธรรม ผู้นั้นเป็นสุข เพราะว่าอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์เป็นของเขา

¹¹ “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

¹¹เมื่อเขาจะติเตียนข่มเหงและนินทาว่าร้ายท่านทั้งหลายเป็นความเท็จเพราะเรา ท่านก็เป็นสุข

¹² Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

¹²จงชื่นชมยินดีอย่างเหลือล้น เพราะว่าบำเหน็จของท่านมีบริบูรณ์ในสวรรค์ เพราะเขาได้ข่มเหงศาสดาพยากรณ์ทั้งหลายที่อยู่ก่อนท่านเหมือนกัน

¹³ “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

¹³ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นเกลือแห่งโลก ถ้าเกลือนั้นหมดรสเค็มไปแล้ว จะทำให้กลับเค็มอีกอย่างไรได้ แต่นั้นไปก็ไม่เป็นประโยชน์อะไร มีแต่จะทิ้งเสียสำหรับคนเหยียบย่ำ

¹⁴ You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.

¹⁴ท่านทั้งหลายเป็นความสว่างของโลก นครซึ่งอยู่บนภูเขาจะปิดบังไว้ไม่ได้

¹⁵ Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.

¹⁵เมื่อจุดเทียนแล้วไม่มีผู้ใดเอาถังครอบไว้ แต่ย่อมตั้งไว้บนเชิงเทียน จะได้ส่องสว่างแก่ทุกคนที่อยู่ในเรือนนั้น

¹⁶ Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

¹⁶ให้ความสว่างของท่านส่องไปต่อหน้าคนทั้งปวงอย่างนั้น เพื่อว่าเขาได้เห็นความดีที่ท่านทำ และจะได้สรรเสริญพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงอยู่ในสวรรค์

¹⁷ “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill.

¹⁷อย่าคิดว่าเรามาเพื่อจะทำลายพระราชบัญญัติหรือคำของศาสดาพยากรณ์เสีย เรามิได้มาเพื่อจะทำลาย แต่มาเพื่อจะให้สำเร็จ

¹⁸ For most certainly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter literally, iota or one tiny pen stroke or, serif shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished.

¹⁸เพราะเราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถึงฟ้าและดินจะล่วงไป แม้อักษรหนึ่งหรือจุดๆหนึ่งก็จะไม่สูญไปจากพระราชบัญญัติ จนกว่าจะสำเร็จทั้งสิ้น

¹⁹ Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

¹⁹เหตุฉะนั้น ผู้ใดได้ทำให้ข้อเล็กน้อยสักข้อหนึ่งในพระบัญญัตินี้เบาลง ทั้งสอนคนอื่นให้ทำอย่างนั้นด้วย ผู้นั้นจะได้ชื่อว่า เป็นผู้น้อยที่สุดในอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์ แต่ผู้ใดที่ประพฤติและสอนตามพระบัญญัติ ผู้นั้นจะได้ชื่อว่า เป็นใหญ่ในอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์

²⁰ For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, there is no way you will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

²⁰เพราะเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถ้าความชอบธรรมของท่านไม่ยิ่งกว่าความชอบธรรมของพวกธรรมาจารย์และพวกฟาริสี ท่านจะไม่มีวันได้เข้าในอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์

²¹ “You have heard that it was said to the ancient ones, ‘You shall not murder;’ Exodus 20:13 and ‘Whoever shall murder shall be in danger of the judgment.’

²¹ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินว่ามีคำกล่าวในครั้งโบราณว่า `อย่ากระทำการฆาตกรรม' ถ้าผู้ใดกระทำการฆาตกรรม ผู้นั้นจะต้องถูกพิพากษาลงโทษ

²² But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause NU omits “without a cause”. shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca “Raca” is an Aramaic insult, related to the word for “empty” and conveying the idea of empty-headedness. !’ shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna. or, Hell

²²ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ผู้ใดโกรธพี่น้องของตนโดยไม่มีเหตุ ผู้นั้นจะต้องถูกพิพากษาลงโทษ ถ้าผู้ใดจะพูดกับพี่น้องว่า `อ้ายบ้า' ผู้นั้นต้องถูกนำไปที่ศาลสูงให้พิพากษาลงโทษ และผู้ใดจะว่า `อ้ายโง่' ผู้นั้นจะมีโทษถึงไฟนรก

²³ “If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you,

²³เหตุฉะนั้น ถ้าท่านนำเครื่องบูชามาถึงแท่นบูชาแล้ว และระลึกขึ้นได้ว่า พี่น้องมีเหตุขัดเคืองข้อหนึ่งข้อใดกับท่าน

²⁴ leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

²⁴จงวางเครื่องบูชาไว้ที่หน้าแท่นบูชา กลับไปคืนดีกับพี่น้องผู้นั้นเสียก่อน แล้วจึงค่อยมาถวายเครื่องบูชาของท่าน

²⁵ Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are with him in the way; lest perhaps the prosecutor deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be cast into prison.

²⁵จงปรองดองกับคู่ความโดยเร็วขณะที่พากันไป เกลือกว่าในเวลาหนึ่งเวลาใดคู่ความนั้นจะมอบท่านไว้กับผู้พิพากษา แล้วผู้พิพากษาจะมอบท่านไว้กับผู้คุม และท่านจะต้องถูกขังไว้ในเรือนจำ

²⁶ Most certainly I tell you, you shall by no means get out of there, until you have paid the last penny. literally, kodrantes. A kodrantes was a small copper coin worth about 2 lepta (widow’s mites)—not enough to buy very much of anything.

²⁶เราบอกความจริงแก่ท่านว่า ท่านจะออกจากที่นั่นไม่ได้กว่าท่านจะได้ใช้หนี้จนครบ

²⁷ “You have heard that it was said, TR adds “to the ancients,” ‘You shall not commit adultery;’ Exodus 20:14

²⁷ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินว่ามีคำกล่าวในครั้งโบราณว่า `อย่าล่วงประเวณีผัวเมียเขา'

²⁸ but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

²⁸ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ผู้ใดมองผู้หญิงเพื่อให้เกิดใจกำหนัดในหญิงนั้น ผู้นั้นได้ล่วงประเวณีในใจกับหญิงนั้นแล้ว

²⁹ If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. or, Hell

²⁹ถ้าตาข้างขวาของท่านทำให้ตัวหลงผิด จงควักออกและโยนมันทิ้งเสียจากท่าน เพราะว่าจะเป็นประโยชน์แก่ท่านมากกว่าที่จะเสียอวัยวะไปอย่างหนึ่ง แต่ทั้งตัวของท่านไม่ต้องถูกทิ้งลงในนรก

³⁰ If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna. or, Hell

³⁰และถ้ามือข้างขวาของท่านทำให้ท่านหลงผิด จงตัดออกและโยนมันทิ้งเสียจากท่าน เพราะว่าจะเป็นประโยชน์แก่ท่านมากกว่าที่จะเสียอวัยวะไปอย่างหนึ่ง แต่ทั้งตัวของท่านไม่ต้องถูกทิ้งลงในนรก

³¹ “It was also said, ‘Whoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorce,’ Deuteronomy 24:1

³¹ยังมีคำกล่าวไว้ว่า `ถ้าผู้ใดจะหย่าภรรยา ก็ให้เขาทำหนังสือหย่าให้แก่ภรรยานั้น'

³² but I tell you that whoever puts away his wife, except for the cause of sexual immorality, makes her an adulteress; and whoever marries her when she is put away commits adultery.

³²ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า ถ้าผู้ใดจะหย่าภรรยา เพราะเหตุอื่นนอกจากการเล่นชู้ ก็เท่ากับว่าผู้นั้นทำให้หญิงนั้นล่วงประเวณี และถ้าผู้ใดจะรับหญิงซึ่งหย่าแล้วเช่นนั้นมาเป็นภรรยา ผู้นั้นก็ล่วงประเวณีด้วย

³³ “Again you have heard that it was said to them of old time, ‘You shall not make false vows, but shall perform to the Lord your vows,’

³³อีกประการหนึ่ง ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินว่ามีคำกล่าวในครั้งโบราณว่า `อย่าเสียคำสัตย์ปฏิญาณ แต่จงปฏิบัติตามคำสัตย์ปฏิญาณของท่านต่อองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า'

³⁴ but I tell you, don’t swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is the throne of God;

³⁴ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านทั้งหลายว่า อย่าปฏิญาณเลย จะอ้างถึงสวรรค์ก็ดี เพราะสวรรค์เป็นบัลลังก์ของพระเจ้า

³⁵ nor by the earth, for it is the footstool of his feet; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

³⁵หรือจะอ้างถึงแผ่นดินโลกก็ดี เพราะแผ่นดินโลกเป็นที่รองพระบาทของพระองค์ หรือจะอ้างถึงกรุงเยรูซาเล็มก็ดี เพราะกรุงเยรูซาเล็มเป็นราชธานีของพระมหากษัตริย์

³⁶ Neither shall you swear by your head, for you can’t make one hair white or black.

³⁶อย่าปฏิญาณโดยอ้างถึงศีรษะของตน เพราะท่านจะกระทำให้ผมขาวหรือดำไปสักเส้นหนึ่งก็ไม่ได้

³⁷ But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes’ and your ‘No’ be ‘No.’ Whatever is more than these is of the evil one.

³⁷จริงก็จงว่าจริง ไม่ก็ว่าไม่ พูดแต่เพียงนี้ก็พอ คำพูดเกินนี้ไปมาจากความชั่ว

³⁸ “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ Exodus 21:24; Leviticus 24:20; Deuteronomy 19:21

³⁸ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินคำซึ่งกล่าวไว้ว่า `ตาแทนตา และฟันแทนฟัน'

³⁹ But I tell you, don’t resist him who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.

³⁹ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านว่า อย่าต่อสู้คนชั่ว ถ้าผู้ใดตบแก้มขวาของท่าน ก็จงหันแก้มซ้ายให้เขาด้วย

⁴⁰ If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also.

⁴⁰ถ้าผู้ใดอยากจะฟ้องศาลเพื่อจะปรับเอาเสื้อของท่านไป ก็จงให้เสื้อคลุมแก่เขาเสียด้วย

⁴¹ Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

⁴¹ถ้าผู้ใดจะเกณฑ์ท่านให้เดินทางไปหนึ่งกิโลเมตร ก็ให้เลยไปกับเขาถึงสองกิโลเมตร

⁴² Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.

⁴²ถ้าเขาจะขอสิ่งใดจากท่านก็จงให้ อย่าเมินหน้าจากผู้ที่อยากขอยืมจากท่าน

⁴³ “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor, Leviticus 19:18 and hate your enemy. not in the Bible, but see Qumran Manual of Discipline Ix, 21-26 ’

⁴³ท่านทั้งหลายได้ยินคำซึ่งกล่าวไว้ว่า `จงรักเพื่อนบ้าน และเกลียดชังศัตรู'

⁴⁴ But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you,

⁴⁴ฝ่ายเราบอกท่านว่า จงรักศัตรูของท่าน จงอวยพรแก่ผู้ที่สาปแช่งท่าน จงทำดีแก่ผู้ที่เกลียดชังท่าน และจงอธิษฐานเพื่อผู้ที่ปฏิบัติอย่างเหยียดหยามต่อท่านและข่มเหงท่าน

⁴⁵ that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.

⁴⁵ทำดังนี้แล้วท่านทั้งหลายจะเป็นบุตรของพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์ เพราะว่าพระองค์ทรงให้ดวงอาทิตย์ของพระองค์ขึ้นส่องสว่างแก่คนดีและคนชั่วเสมอกัน และให้ฝนตกแก่คนชอบธรรมและแก่คนอธรรม

⁴⁶ For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Don’t even the tax collectors do the same?

⁴⁶แม้ว่าท่านรักผู้ที่รักท่าน ท่านจะได้บำเหน็จอะไร ถึงพวกเก็บภาษีก็ยังกระทำอย่างนั้นมิใช่หรือ

⁴⁷ If you only greet your friends, what more do you do than others? Don’t even the tax collectors NU reads “Gentiles” instead of “tax collectors”. do the same?

⁴⁷ถ้าท่านทักทายแต่พี่น้องของตนฝ่ายเดียว ท่านได้กระทำอะไรเป็นพิเศษยิ่งกว่าคนทั้งปวงเล่า ถึงพวกเก็บภาษีก็กระทำอย่างนั้นมิใช่หรือ

⁴⁸ Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

⁴⁸เหตุฉะนี้ ท่านทั้งหลายจงเป็นคนดีรอบคอบ เหมือนอย่างพระบิดาของท่านผู้ทรงสถิตในสวรรค์เป็นผู้ดีรอบคอบ"
