Wolof: New Testament

King James Version

Ephesians

5

1 Yéen nag ñiy guney Yàlla, yi mu bëgg ci xolam, royleen ko ci loolu.
1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
2 Ngeen wéer seen dund ci mbëggeel, mel ni Kirist mi nu bëgg, ba joxe bakkanam ngir nun, di sarax su ñu jébbal Yàlla te neex ko ni xetu latkoloñ.
2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 Waaye naka njaaloo ak bépp sobe mbaa bëgge, jéllale naa jëf ji sax, waaye bu ko làmmiñ tudd, ni mu jekke ci gaayi Yàlla yu sell yi.
3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Dawleen it yu jekkadee, ni wax ju ñaaw mbaa waxi caaxaan ak kaf yu bon, te ngeen sax ci sant Yàlla.
4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
5 Na leen wóor ne, kenn ku jikkowoo ndoxaan, sobe mbaa bëgge, maanaam bokkaale Yàlla, kooku du am cér ci nguuru Kirist ak Yàlla.
5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
6 Bu leen kenn nax ci ay waxi neen, ndaxte jëf yooyooy tax meru Yàlla di wàcc ci kureelu ñi ko déggadil.
6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Kon nag buleen séq ak ñoom dara.
7Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8 Lëndëm ngeen woon, waaye léegi leer ngeen ndax seen bokk ci Boroom bi. Dundeleen nag ni ay guney leer.
8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 Leer, mbaax lay meññ, njub ak dëgg.
9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Dëggal-leen ci seeni jëf li neex Boroom bi,
10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 te daw lépp luy jëfi lëndëm yu amul njariñ, bay weer sax ku koy def.
11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12 Ndaxte waxtaane sax li ñuy def ci nëbbu, lu ruslu la;
12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
13 waaye leer, lu mu ëmb, fésal ko.
13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Ndaxte lu jaxasoo ak leer di leer. Looloo tax ñu ne:«Yeewul, yaw mi nelaw,te jóge ci biir néew yi,kon Kirist dina ne ràññ ci yaw,ni leeru jant buy fenk.»
14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
15 Noonu sàmmleen seen dundin, waxuma ni ñu amul xel, waaye ni ñu am xel,
15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 tey jariñoo jot gi, ndaxte nu ngi ci jamono ju bon.
16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Buleen ñàkk bopp nag, waaye xamleen liy coobareg Boroom bi.
17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18 Buleen màndi it ci sangara, liy ndeyi ñaawteef, waaye feesleen ak Xel mu Sell mi;
18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 di waxante ci seen biir ci ay taalifi Sabóor, ci ay woy ak ay cant yu tukkee ci Xelum Yàlla, di woy ak a kañ Boroom bi ci seeni xol.
19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Gërëmleen Yàlla Baay bi ci turu Yeesu Kirist Boroom bi, fu ngeen man a tollu, ci lu mu man a doon;
20Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
21 teg ca nangul sa moroom ci biir wegeelu Kirist.
21Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
22 Naka yéen jigéen ñi, nangeen nangul seeni jëkkër, ni su doon Boroom bi.
22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23 Ndaxte góor mooy kilifag jabaram, ni Kirist nekke kilifag mbooloom ñi gëm, muy jëmmam ji muy sàmm.
23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24 Ni mbooloo mi nag jiitale Kirist, noonu la jigéen ji war a jiitale jëkkëram ci lépp.
24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25 Yéen nag góor ñi, na ku nekk bëgg jabaram, ni Kirist bëgge mbooloo mi, ba joxe bakkanam ndax moom,
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26 ngir sellal ko ak kàddoom, ba mu laab ni ku sangu set.
26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27 Noonu dina ko jël, mu mel ni séet bu ñu waajal, di mbooloom mu soloo ndam, te gàkkul, rasul, taqul leneen, waaye mu sell te amul sikk.
27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 Na góor bëgg jabaram, ni mu bëgge boppam. Bëgg sa jabar, bëgg sa bopp la.
28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29 Ndaxte kenn musul a bañ sa yaram. Waaye danga koy dundal, di ko fonk. Noonu it la Kirist fonke mbooloo mi;
29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30 ndaxte noo di céri jëmmam.
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31 Mbind mi nee na: «Moo tax góor dina beru ndeyam ak baayam, di taq ci jabaram, ñoom ñaar doon benn.»
31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32 Loolu ëmb na mbóot mu xóot; man maa ngi wax ci lu jëm ci Kirist ak mbooloo mi.
32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
33 Waaye li teew, na góor gu nekk bëgg jabaram, ni mu bëgge boppam, te jigéen ji weg jëkkëram.
33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
