1耶利米為猶大悲傷但願我的頭是水井，我的眼是淚的泉源；我好為我同胞（“同胞”原文作“人民的女子”）中被殺的，晝夜哭泣。（本節在《馬索拉抄本》為8:23）
1Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a spring of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
2但願我在曠野有一個旅客住宿的地方，好使我離開我的同胞，可以離他們而去；因為他們都是行姦淫的，是行詭詐之徒。（本節在《馬索拉抄本》為9:1）
2Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.
3“他們彎曲舌頭，像彎弓一樣；在這地得勢的是虛謊，不是誠實；因為他們變本加厲地作惡，連我也不認識。”這是耶和華的宣告。
3They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me, says Yahweh.
4“你們各人要提防自己的鄰舍，不要信靠兄弟；因為每一個兄弟都在欺騙人，每一個鄰舍都搬弄是非。
4Take heed everyone of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.
5他們各人都欺騙自己的鄰舍，不說誠實話。他們訓練自己的舌頭說謊話，竭力作孽，以致他們不能回轉（本句按照《馬索拉抄本》意思難確定；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯）。
5They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
6欺凌加上欺凌，詭詐加上詭詐，他們不肯認識我。”這是耶和華的宣告。
6Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says Yahweh.
7因此，萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“看哪！我要熬煉他們，試驗他們；因我子民（“我子民”原文作“我子民的女子”）的罪惡，我還可以作甚麼呢？
7Therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how should I deal with the daughter of my people?
8他們的舌頭是殺人的利箭，嘴裡說的是詭詐；跟鄰舍說話滿口甜言蜜語，心底裡卻設計陷害他。
8Their tongue is a deadly arrow; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lays wait for him.
9我因這些事怎能不懲罰他們呢？像這樣的國家，我怎能不親自報復呢？”這是耶和華的宣告。
9Shall I not visit them for these things? says Yahweh; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
10我要為眾山哭泣哀號，為曠野的草場唱哀歌；因為都已成為荒涼，無人經過，也聽不到牲畜的叫聲；無論空中的飛鳥，地上的走獸，都逃走跑掉了。
10For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the pastures of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none passes through; neither can men hear the voice of the livestock; both the birds of the sky and the animals are fled, they are gone.
11“我要使耶路撒冷變成亂堆，成為野狗的巢穴；我要使猶大的城市荒涼，無人居住。”
11I will make Jerusalem heaps, a dwelling place of jackals; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.
12誰是智慧人可以解明這事？耶和華的口向誰說過，以致他可以傳講這事？為甚麼這地被毀壞，像曠野般荒涼，無人經過呢？
12Who is the wise man, that may understand this? Who is he to whom the mouth of Yahweh has spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land perished and burned up like a wilderness, so that none passes through?
13耶和華說：“這是因為他們離棄了我擺在他們面前的律法，不聽從我的話，沒有遵行我的律法；
13Yahweh says, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein,
14反而隨從自己頑梗的心行事，照他們列祖所教訓的，隨從眾巴力。”
14but have walked after the stubbornness of their own heart, and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them;
15因此，萬軍之耶和華以色列的 神這樣說：“看哪！我要使這人民吃苦堇，喝毒水。
15therefore thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
16我要把他們分散在列國中，就是他們和他們的列祖都不認識的列國；我要使刀劍追殺他們，直到把他們滅絕。”
16I will scatter them also among the nations, whom neither they nor their fathers have known; and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.
17萬軍之耶和華這樣說：“你們要思想，要把唱哀歌的婦女召來，把那些擅長哀哭的婦女請來；
17Thus says Yahweh of Armies, Consider, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skillful women, that they may come:
18叫他們趕快為我們舉哀，使我們的眼流下眼淚，使我們的眼皮湧出淚水。
18and let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
19因為從錫安可以聽到哀聲，說：‘我們何等衰敗！我們多麼羞恥！因我們丟棄了這地，我們的家園被拆毀了。’”
19For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we ruined! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because they have cast down our dwellings.
20婦女們哪！你們要聽耶和華的話，你們的耳朵要領受他口中的話；要教導你們的女兒舉哀，各人要彼此學習哀歌。
20Yet hear the word of Yahweh, you women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; and teach your daughters wailing, and everyone her neighbor lamentation.
21因為死亡從窗戶上來，進入我們的堡壘；要從街上剪除孩童，從廣場上剪除年輕人。
21For death has come up into our windows, it is entered into our palaces; to cut off the children from outside, and the young men from the streets.
22你要這樣說（這是耶和華的宣告）：“人的屍體橫臥著，像田野上的糞肥，又像遺留在收割者後面的麥穗，無人拾取。”
22Speak, Thus says Yahweh, The dead bodies of men shall fall as dung on the open field, and as the handful after the harvester; and none shall gather them.
23甚麼是值得誇口的事耶和華這樣說：“智慧人不可誇耀自己的智慧，勇士不可誇耀自己的勇力，財主不可誇耀自己的財富。
23Thus says Yahweh, Don’t let the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, don’t let the rich man glory in his riches;
24誇口的卻要因了解我，認識我而誇口；認識我是耶和華，我在地上施行慈愛、公正、公義；因為我喜悅這些事。”這是耶和華的宣告。
24but let him who glories glory in this, that he has understanding, and knows me, that I am Yahweh who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, says Yahweh.
25“看哪！日子快到（這是耶和華的宣告），我必懲罰所有只在身體受過割禮，內心卻未受割禮的人，
25Behold, the days come, says Yahweh, that I will punish all those who are circumcised in uncircumcision:
26就是埃及、猶大、以東、亞捫、摩押和所有剃除鬢髮，住在曠野的人；因為列國的人都沒有受過割禮，甚至以色列全家的內心也沒有受過割禮。”
26Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that have the corners of their hair cut off, who dwell in the wilderness; for all the nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in heart.
