¹施洗約翰（可1:3~8；路3:2~17；約1:19~28）那時，施洗的約翰出來，在猶太的曠野傳道，

¹In those days, John the Baptizer came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying,

²說：“天國近了，你們應當悔改。”

²“Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”

³以賽亞先知所說：“在曠野有呼喊者的聲音：‘預備主的道，修直他的路！’”就是指著這約翰說的。

³For this is he who was spoken of by Isaiah the prophet, saying, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness, make ready the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight.” Isaiah 40:3

⁴約翰身穿駱駝毛的衣服，腰束皮帶，吃的是蝗蟲和野蜜。

⁴Now John himself wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey.

⁵耶路撒冷、猶太全地和約旦河一帶的人都出來到他那裡去，

⁵Then people from Jerusalem, all of Judea, and all the region around the Jordan went out to him.

⁶承認自己的罪，在約旦河裡受了他的洗。

⁶They were baptized or, immersed by him in the Jordan, confessing their sins.

⁷約翰看見許多法利賽人和撒都該人也來受他的洗，就對他們說：“毒蛇所生的啊，誰指示你們逃避那將要來的忿怒呢？

⁷But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism, or, immersion he said to them, “You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

⁸應當結出果子來，與悔改的心相稱。

⁸Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance!

⁹你們心裡不要以為：‘我們有亞伯拉罕作我們的祖宗。’我告訴你們，　神能從這些石頭中給亞伯拉罕興起後裔來。

⁹Don’t think to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father,’ for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

¹⁰現在斧頭已經放在樹根上，所有不結好果子的樹，就砍下來，丟在火裡。

¹⁰“Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.

¹¹我用水給你們施洗，表示你們悔改；但在我以後要來的那一位，能力比我更大，我就是替他提鞋也沒有資格。他要用聖靈與火給你們施洗。

¹¹I indeed baptize or, immerse you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. TR and NU add “and with fire”

¹²他手裡拿著簸箕，要揚淨麥場，把麥子收進倉裡，卻用不滅的火把糠秕燒盡。”

¹²His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”

¹³耶穌受洗（可1:9~11；路3:21~22）那時，耶穌從加利利來到約旦河約翰那裡，要受他的洗。

¹³Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him.

¹⁴約翰想要阻止他，說：“我應該受你的洗，你卻到我這裡來嗎？”

¹⁴But John would have hindered him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?”

¹⁵耶穌回答：“暫且這樣作吧。我們理當這樣履行全部的義。”於是約翰答應了他。

¹⁵But Jesus, answering, said to him, “Allow it now, for this is the fitting way for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him.

¹⁶耶穌受了洗，立刻從水中上來；忽然，天為他開了，他看見　神的靈，好像鴿子降下來，落在他身上；

¹⁶Jesus, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water: and behold, the heavens were opened to him. He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.

¹⁷又有聲音從天上來，說：“這是我的愛子，我所喜悅的。”

¹⁷Behold, a voice out of the heavens said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
