¹人民禁食認罪這月二十四日，以色列人聚集，一同禁食，身穿麻衣，頭上蒙灰。

¹Now in the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, and with sackcloth, and earth on them.

²以色列的後裔跟所有外族人分離，然後站立，承認自己的罪過和他們列祖的罪孽。

²The seed of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins, and the iniquities of their fathers.

³那天四分之一的時間，他們站在自己的地方，宣讀耶和華他們的　神的律法書；另外四分之一的時間，他們認罪和敬拜耶和華他們的　神。

³They stood up in their place, and read in the book of the law of Yahweh their God a fourth part of the day; and a fourth part they confessed, and worshiped Yahweh their God.

⁴耶書亞、巴尼、甲篾、示巴尼、布尼、示利比、巴尼和基拿尼，站立在利未人的臺階上，向耶和華他們的　神大聲哀求。

⁴Then Jeshua, and Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani, and Chenani of the Levites stood up on the stairs, and cried with a loud voice to Yahweh their God.

⁵稱頌與禱告利未人耶書亞、甲篾、巴尼、哈沙尼、示利比、荷第雅、示巴尼和毗他希雅說：“你們要起立，稱頌耶和華你們的　神，直到永永遠遠。”“耶和華啊，你榮耀的名是應當稱頌的；願你的名被尊崇，超過一切稱頌和讚美。

⁵Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, “Stand up and bless Yahweh your God from everlasting to everlasting! Bessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise!

⁶你，唯獨你是耶和華，你造了天，天上的天和天軍，地和地上的萬物，海和海中的萬物，你使這一切生存，天軍也都敬拜你。

⁶You are Yahweh, even you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their army, the earth and all things that are on it, the seas and all that is in them, and you preserve them all. The army of heaven worships you.

⁷你是耶和華　神，你揀選亞伯蘭，帶領他出了迦勒底的吾珥，改他的名字為亞伯拉罕。

⁷You are Yahweh, the God who chose Abram, and brought him out of Ur of the Chaldees, and gave him the name of Abraham,

⁸你見他在你面前心裡誠實可靠，就與他立約，要把迦南人、赫人、亞摩利人、比利洗人、耶布斯人和革迦撒人之地，賜給他的後裔；你履行了你的諾言，因為你是公義的。

⁸and found his heart faithful before you, and made a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite, and the Girgashite, to give it to his seed, and have performed your words; for you are righteous.

⁹你看見我們的列祖在埃及所受的困苦，垂聽他們在紅海的哀求，

⁹“You saw the affliction of our fathers in Egypt, and heard their cry by the Red Sea or, Sea of Reeds ,

¹⁰因為你知道埃及人怎樣狂妄自大地對待他們，所以就對法老和他的一切臣僕，以及他國中所有的人民，施行神蹟奇事，為你自己建立了至今仍存的名聲。

¹⁰and showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, and against all his servants, and against all the people of his land; for you knew that they dealt proudly against them, and made a name for yourself, as it is this day.

¹¹你又在我們的列祖面前把海分開，使他們在海中的乾地上走過去；把追趕他們的人丟在深處，好像石頭拋進怒海之中。

¹¹You divided the sea before them, so that they went through the midst of the sea on the dry land; and you cast their pursuers into the depths, as a stone into the mighty waters.

¹²日間你用雲柱引導他們，夜間用火柱光照他們要行的路。

¹²Moreover, in a pillar of cloud you led them by day; and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light in the way in which they should go.

¹³你降臨西奈山上，從天上與他們說話，賜給他們正直的典章、真實的律法、美好的條例與誡命。

¹³“You came down also on Mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments,

¹⁴你使他們認識你的聖安息，藉你僕人摩西向他們頒布誡命、條例和律法。

¹⁴and made known to them your holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant,

¹⁵你從天上賜下糧食，給他們充飢，吩咐水從磐石流出來給他們解渴；你又吩咐他們進去佔領，你舉手起誓要賜給他們的那地。

¹⁵and gave them bread from the sky for their hunger, and brought forth water for them out of the rock for their thirst, and commanded them that they should go in to possess the land which you had sworn to give them.

¹⁶但是我們的列祖狂妄自大，硬著頸項，不聽從你的命令。

¹⁶“But they and our fathers dealt proudly and hardened their neck, didn’t listen to your commandments,

¹⁷他們拒絕聽從，也不記念你在他們中間所行的奇事，硬著頸項，存心悖逆，自立首領，要回到他們為奴之地去。但你是樂意饒恕的　神，你有恩典，有憐憫，不輕易發怒，並有豐盛的慈愛，所以你沒有撇棄他們。

¹⁷and refused to obey, neither were they mindful of your wonders that you did among them, but hardened their neck, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage. But you are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and didn’t forsake them.

¹⁸他們更為自己鑄造了一頭牛犢，說：‘這就是把你們從埃及領上來的神！’他們犯了褻瀆大罪，

¹⁸Yes, when they had made them a molten calf, and said, ‘This is your God who brought you up out of Egypt,’ and had committed awful blasphemies;

¹⁹你還是因著你豐盛的憐憫，沒有把他們撇棄在曠野；日間雲柱沒有離開他們，仍然在路上引導他們；夜間火柱也沒有離開他們，還是光照他們要行的路。

¹⁹yet you in your manifold mercies didn’t forsake them in the wilderness: the pillar of cloud didn’t depart from over them by day, to lead them in the way; neither the pillar of fire by night, to show them light, and the way in which they should go.

²⁰你賜下良善的靈教導他們；你沒有留住嗎哪不給他們吃；你給他們水解渴。

²⁰You gave also your good Spirit to instruct them, and didn’t withhold your manna from their mouth, and gave them water for their thirst.

²¹在曠野四十年，你供養他們，他們毫無缺乏，衣服沒有穿破，他們的腳也沒有腫痛。

²¹“Yes, forty years you sustained them in the wilderness. They lacked nothing. Their clothes didn’t grow old, and their feet didn’t swell.

²²你把列國和萬民賜給他們，你把列國分給他們作疆界，他們就獲得西宏之地，希實本王之地和巴珊王噩之地。

²²Moreover you gave them kingdoms and peoples, which you allotted according to their portions. So they possessed the land of Sihon, even the land of the king of Heshbon, and the land of Og king of Bashan.

²³你使他們的子孫眾多，像天上的星星那麼多；你把他們帶進你應許他們的列祖要進去得為業的那地。

²³You also multiplied their children as the stars of the sky, and brought them into the land concerning which you said to their fathers, that they should go in to possess it.

²⁴於是他們的子孫進去，獲得那地；你使那地的迦南居民向他們屈服，又把迦南眾王和那地的各民族，都交在以色列人手裡，以色列人可以隨意對待他們。

²⁴“So the children went in and possessed the land, and you subdued before them the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, and gave them into their hands, with their kings, and the peoples of the land, that they might do with them as they pleased.

²⁵他們奪取了堅固的城、肥沃的土地，獲得了滿載各樣財寶的房屋、挖好的水井、葡萄園、橄欖園和很多果樹；他們吃得飽足，身體發胖，因你的大恩生活安逸快樂。

²⁵They took fortified cities, and a rich land, and possessed houses full of all good things, cisterns dug out, vineyards, and olive groves, and fruit trees in abundance. So they ate, were filled, became fat, and delighted themselves in your great goodness.

²⁶承認悖逆的罪“可是他們竟悖逆，背叛你，把你的律法丟在背後，殺害那些控告他們，要他們歸向你的先知，犯了褻瀆的大罪。

²⁶“Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against you, and cast your law behind their back, and killed your prophets that testified against them to turn them again to you, and they committed awful blasphemies.

²⁷所以你把他們交在敵人的手中，好讓他們受困苦；他們受困苦的時候，就向你呼求，你就從天上垂聽，按著你豐盛的憐憫，賜給他們拯救者，拯救他們脫離敵人的手。

²⁷Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their adversaries, who distressed them. In the time of their trouble, when they cried to you, you heard from heaven; and according to your manifold mercies you gave them saviors who saved them out of the hand of their adversaries.

²⁸但他們得享安寧以後，又在你面前行惡，你就撇棄他們在仇敵的手中，讓仇敵管轄他們；然而他們回轉過來，向你哀求，你就從天上垂聽，按著豐盛的憐憫，一次又一次拯救他們。

²⁸But after they had rest, they did evil again before you; therefore left you them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had the dominion over them; yet when they returned, and cried to you, you heard from heaven; and many times you delivered them according to your mercies,

²⁹你警告他們，要他們轉向你的律法；但他們狂妄自大，不聽從你的誡命，犯罪干犯你的典章。人應遵行這些典章，按照它們生活，他們卻固執地扭轉肩頭，硬著頸項，不肯聽從。

²⁹and testified against them, that you might bring them again to your law. Yet they dealt proudly, and didn’t listen to your commandments, but sinned against your ordinances, (which if a man does, he shall live in them), turned their backs, stiffened their neck, and would not hear.

³⁰你多年容忍他們，你的靈藉著你的眾先知勸戒他們，他們還是不側耳而聽，所以你把他們交在各地的民族手中。

³⁰Yet many years you put up with them, and testified against them by your Spirit through your prophets. Yet would they not give ear. Therefore you gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

³¹然而因你豐富的憐憫，你不把他們滅盡，也不撇棄他們，因為你是有恩典有憐憫的　神。

³¹“Nevertheless in your manifold mercies you did not make a full end of them, nor forsake them; for you are a gracious and merciful God.

³²立約蓋印“我們的　神啊，你是至大、全能、至可畏、守約施慈愛的　神，現在求你不要把我們、我們的君王和領袖、我們的祭司和先知、我們的列祖和你的眾民，從亞述列王的日子直到今日所遭遇的一切苦難，看為小事。

³²Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and loving kindness, don’t let all the travail seem little before you, that has come on us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all your people, since the time of the kings of Assyria to this day.

³³在一切臨到我們身上的事上，你都是公義的；因為你所行的是信實的，我們所行的是邪惡的。

³³However you are just in all that has come on us; for you have dealt truly, but we have done wickedly;

³⁴我們的君王和領袖，我們的祭司和列祖，都沒有遵行你的律法，也沒有留心聽從你的誡命和你向他們鄭重的警告。

³⁴neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our fathers, kept your law, nor listened to your commandments and your testimonies with which you testified against them.

³⁵他們在本國中，享受你賜給他們的大福，在你擺在他們面前這廣大肥沃的地上，卻不事奉你，不轉離他們的惡行。

³⁵For they have not served you in their kingdom, and in your great goodness that you gave them, and in the large and rich land which you gave before them, neither did they turn from their wicked works.

³⁶我們今天竟成了奴僕！就是在你賜給我們列祖享用其上果實和美物之地，我們竟在這地上作了奴僕！

³⁶“Behold, we are servants this day, and as for the land that you gave to our fathers to eat its fruit and its good, behold, we are servants in it.

³⁷這地豐富的出產都歸給列王，就是你因我們的罪派來管轄我們的；他們也隨意管轄我們的身體和我們的牲畜；我們遭遇大患難。

³⁷It yields much increase to the kings whom you have set over us because of our sins: also they have power over our bodies, and over our livestock, at their pleasure, and we are in great distress.

³⁸現在由於這一切事，我們立下確實的約，寫在文件上；我們的領袖、利未人和祭司，都在上面蓋了印。”（本節在《馬索拉抄本》為10:1）

³⁸Yet for all this, we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, our Levites, and our priests, seal it.”
