¹巴比伦王攻陷耶路撒冷

¹In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon to Jerusalem, and besieged it.

²主把犹大王约雅敬和　神殿中的一部分器物交在尼布甲尼撒手里，他就把这些器物带到示拿地的神庙那里，存放在庙中的宝库里。

²The Lord The word translated “Lord” is “Adonai.” gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God The Hebrew word rendered “God” is “Elohim.” ; and he carried them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god: and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

³但以理与三友被选入宫王吩咐他的太监长亚施毗拿说：“你要从以色列人中，把一些王室的后裔和贵族带进来；

³The king spoke to Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring in certain of the children of Israel, even of the seed royal and of the nobles;

⁴这些年轻人必须没有残疾、英俊、足智多才、有高度学习能力、明察事理，而且他们必须有能力可以在王宫里工作。你要教他们学习迦勒底的文学和语言。”

⁴youths in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and endowed with knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability to stand in the king’s palace; and that he should teach them the learning and the language of the Chaldeans.

⁵王指定每日给他们一份御用的佳肴美酒；又教养他们三年。期满以后，他们就侍立在王面前。

⁵The king appointed for them a daily portion of the king’s dainties, and of the wine which he drank, and that they should be nourished three years; that at its end they should stand before the king.

⁶他们中间有犹大人但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亚撒利雅。

⁶Now among these were, of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah.

⁷太监长给他们起了新的名字，称但以理为伯提沙撒，哈拿尼雅为沙得拉，米沙利为米煞，亚撒利雅为亚伯尼歌。

⁷The prince of the eunuchs gave names to them: to Daniel he gave the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego.

⁸但以理决心不用王膳但以理决心不让御用的佳肴美酒玷污自己，所以求太监长帮助他，使他不用玷污自己。

⁸But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the king’s dainties, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

⁹于是　神使但以理在太监长面前得着恩惠和同情。

⁹Now God made Daniel to find kindness and compassion in the sight of the prince of the eunuchs.

¹⁰只是太监长对但以理说：“我惧怕我主我王，他已指定了你们应用的饮食；如果他见到你们的面色比你们同岁的年轻人憔悴难看，你们就使我的头在王面前保不住了。”

¹⁰The prince of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and your drink: for why should he see your faces worse looking than the youths who are of your own age? so would you endanger my head with the king.

¹¹后来但以理对太监长分派看管但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亚撒利雅的人说：

¹¹Then Daniel said to the steward whom the prince of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

¹²“请你试试仆人十天，容我们只吃素菜、喝清水。

¹²Test your servants, I beg you, ten days; and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink.

¹³然后，请你观察我们的容貌，和那些享用王的佳肴的年轻人的容貌，就照着你观察的结果，待你的仆人吧！”

¹³Then let our faces be looked on before you, and the face of the youths who eat of the king’s dainties; and as you see, deal with your servants.

¹⁴吃素喝水健康更佳看管他们的人就允准他们的这个要求，试试他们十天。

¹⁴So he listened to them in this matter, and proved them ten days.

¹⁵过了十天，见他们的容貌比所有享用王的佳肴的年轻人，更加俊美健壮。

¹⁵At the end of ten days their faces appeared fairer, and they were fatter in flesh, than all the youths who ate of the king’s dainties.

¹⁶看管他们的人就撤去指定给他们享用的佳肴美酒，让他们吃素菜。

¹⁶So the steward took away their dainties, and the wine that they should drink, and gave them pulse.

¹⁷主赐知识聪明出众超群这四个年轻人在各种文字和学问上，　神都赐他们知识和聪明；但以理并且能明白一切异象和异梦。

¹⁷Now as for these four youths, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

¹⁸到了王吩咐带所有年轻人进宫的日子，太监长就领他们到尼布甲尼撒王面前。

¹⁸At the end of the days which the king had appointed for bringing them in, the prince of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar.

¹⁹王和他们谈话，发现他们所有的人中，没有一个比得上但以理、哈拿尼雅、米沙利、亚撒利雅的；他们四人就侍立在王面前。

¹⁹The king talked with them; and among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: therefore stood they before the king.

²⁰王考问他们一切智慧和聪明的事，就发现他们比全国所有的术士和用法术的更胜十倍。

²⁰In every matter of wisdom and understanding, concerning which the king inquired of them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and enchanters who were in all his realm.

²¹直到古列王元年，但以理还在。

²¹Daniel continued even to the first year of king Cyrus.
