¹Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

¹在你壯年的日子，當記念你的創造主。不要等到衰敗的日子，就是你所說：“我毫無喜樂”的那些年日臨到，

²While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:

²日頭、光明、月亮、星宿變暗，雨後烏雲再現的時候。

³In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,

³那時，看守房子的發抖，強壯的彎腰，推磨的稀少，都停了工，往窗外看的都昏暗了，

⁴And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;

⁴當街的門口關閉，推磨的聲音微弱。雀鳥一叫，人就起來。唱歌的歌聲（“歌聲”原文作“女子”）都低微。

⁵Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

⁵人怕高處，怕路上有驚嚇。杏樹開花，蚱蜢蹣跚而行，催情果失效。因為人歸他永遠的家，哭喪的在街上遊行。

⁶Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

⁶銀鍊斷掉，金碗破裂，瓶子在泉旁破碎，打水的輪子在井邊破爛。

⁷Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

⁷塵土要歸回原來之地，靈要歸回賜靈的　神。

⁸Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

⁸傳道者說：“虛空的虛空，一切都是虛空。”

⁹And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

⁹結論：敬畏　神，謹守誡命傳道者不但有智慧，還將知識教訓眾人；他既揣摩，又查考，也編撰了許多箴言。

¹⁰The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

¹⁰傳道者搜尋可喜悅的話，正確地寫下真理。

¹¹The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

¹¹智慧人的言語像刺棒，他們所彙集的箴言像釘牢的釘子，都是一位牧者所賜的。

¹²And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

¹²我兒，還有，你當受勸勉：著書多，沒有窮盡；讀書多，身體疲倦。

¹³Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

¹³你們一切都聽見了，總而言之，應當敬畏　神，謹守他的誡命，因為這是每一個人的本分。

¹⁴For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

¹⁴人所作的每一件事，連一切隱藏的事，無論是善是惡，　神都必審問。
