1And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David.
1 Dywedodd Saul wrth ei fab Jonathan a'i holl weision am ladd Dafydd.
2But Jonathan Saul's son delighted much in David: and Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself until the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
2 Ond yr oedd Jonathan fab Saul wedi mynd yn hoff iawn o Ddafydd, a dywedodd wrtho, "Y mae fy nhad Saul yn ceisio dy ladd di; bydd di'n ofalus ohonot dy hun bore yfory, ac ymguddia ac aros o'r golwg.
3And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and what I see, that I will tell thee.
3 Mi af finnau a sefyll yn ymyl fy nhad, allan yn ymyl y lle y byddi di, ac mi soniaf amdanat wrth fy nhad; ac os gwelaf unrhyw beth, mi ddywedaf wrthyt."
4And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:
4 Siaradodd Jonathan o blaid Dafydd wrth ei dad Saul, a dweud wrtho, "Peidied y brenin gwneud cam 'i was Dafydd, oherwydd ni wnaeth ef gam thi; yn wir, bu ei weithredoedd o les mawr iti.
5For he did put his life in his hand, and slew the Philistine, and the LORD wrought a great salvation for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice: wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
5 Mentrodd ei fywyd i ladd y Philistiad hwnnw, a rhoddodd yr ARGLWYDD fuddugoliaeth fawr i Israel gyfan. Yr oeddit tithau'n gweld ac yn llawenychu; pam ynteu yr wyt am wneud cam ag un dieuog, a lladd Dafydd heb achos?"
6And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As the LORD liveth, he shall not be slain.
6 Gwrandawodd Saul ar ble Jonathan a thyngodd: "Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, ni chaiff ei ladd."
7And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
7 Wedi i Jonathan alw Dafydd, a dweud hyn i gyd wrtho, aeth ag ef at Saul; a bu Dafydd yn ei wasanaethu fel cynt.
8And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled from him.
8 A phan dorrodd rhyfel allan eto, aeth Dafydd i ymladd yn erbyn y Philistiaid a gwneud difrod mawr arnynt, a hwythau'n ffoi o'i flaen.
9And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.
9 Daeth ysbryd drwg oddi wrth yr ARGLWYDD ar Saul ac yntau'n eistedd gartref gwaywffon yn ei law, a Dafydd yn canu'r delyn.
10And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin: but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
10 Ceisiodd Saul drywanu'r waywffon trwy Ddafydd i'r pared, ond osgdd Dafydd ef, ac i'r pared y trawodd y waywffon; felly dihangodd Dafydd a ffoi.
11Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.
11 Y noson honno anfonodd Saul negeswyr i gartref Dafydd i'w wylio er mwyn ei ladd yn y bore. Ond yr oedd Michal gwraig Dafydd wedi dweud wrtho, "Os na fyddi'n dianc heno am d'einioes, yfory byddi'n farw."
12So Michal let David down through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
12 Felly, wedi i Michal ollwng Dafydd i lawr drwy'r ffenestr, aeth yntau ar ffo a dianc.
13And Michal took an image, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster, and covered it with a cloth.
13 Yna cymerodd Michal y teraffim a'u gosod yn y gwely, a rhoi clustog o flew geifr lle byddai'r pen, a thaenu dilledyn drosti.
14And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
14 Pan anfonodd Saul negeswyr i ddal Dafydd, dywedodd hi, "Y mae'n glaf."
15And Saul sent the messengers again to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
15 Ond anfonodd Saul y negeswyr yn l i chwilio am Ddafydd gyda'r gorchymyn, "Dewch ag ef ataf yn ei wely, imi ei ladd."
16And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for his bolster.
16 Pan ddaeth y negeswyr, dyna lle'r oedd y teraffim yn y gwely, gyda chlustog o flew geifr wrth y pen.
17And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me so, and sent away mine enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?
17 Meddai Saul wrth Michal, "Pam y twyllaist fi fel hyn, a gollwng fy ngelyn yn rhydd i ddianc?" Atebodd Michal, "Ef a ddywedodd wrthyf, 'Gollwng fi, neu mi'th laddaf.'"
18So David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.
18 Ffodd Dafydd a dianc i Rama at Samuel, ac adrodd wrtho'r cwbl a wnaeth Saul iddo. Yna aeth Samuel ac yntau, ac aros yn Naioth.
19And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.
19 Mynegwyd i Saul, "Y mae Dafydd yn Naioth ger Rama."
20And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
20 Anfonodd Saul negeswyr i ddal Dafydd, ond pan welsant dwr o broffwydi'n proffwydo, a Samuel yn sefyll yno'n bennaeth arnynt, disgynnodd ysbryd Duw arnynt ac aethant hwythau i broffwydo.
21And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophesied likewise. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they prophesied also.
21 Pan fynegwyd hyn i Saul, anfonodd negeswyr eraill, ond aethant hwythau i broffwydo hefyd; a phan anfonodd Saul negeswyr am y trydydd tro, aeth y rheini hefyd i broffwydo.
22Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.
22 Yna fe aeth ef ei hun i Rama, ac wedi iddo gyrraedd y pydew mawr yn Secu a holi ple'r oedd Samuel a Dafydd, dywedodd rhywun eu bod yn Naioth ger Rama.
23And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
23 Wrth iddo fynd yno i Naioth ger Rama, disgynnodd ysbryd Duw arno yntau hefyd, ac aeth yn ei flaen dan broffwydo nes dod i Naioth ger Rama.
24And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
24 Yno fe ddiosgodd yntau ei ddillad a phroffwydo gerbron Samuel; a gorweddodd yn noeth drwy'r dydd a'r noson honno. Dyna pam y dywedir, "A yw Saul hefyd ymysg y proffwydi?"
