1And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what is mine iniquity? and what is my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
1 Ffodd Dafydd o Naioth ger Rama, a daeth at Jonathan a gofyn, "Beth wnes i? Beth yw fy mai a'm pechod gerbron dy dad, fel ei fod yn ceisio f'einioes?"
2And he said unto him, God forbid; thou shalt not die: behold, my father will do nothing either great or small, but that he will show it me: and why should my father hide this thing from me? it is not so.
2 Dywedodd Jonathan, "Pell y bo! Ni fyddi farw. Edrych yma, nid yw fy nhad yn gwneud dim, bach na mawr, heb ddweud wrthyf fi; pam felly y byddai fy nhad yn celu'r peth hwn oddi wrthyf? Nid oes dim yn y peth."
3And David sware moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knoweth that I have found grace in thine eyes; and he saith, Let not Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved: but truly as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, there is but a step between me and death.
3 Ond tyngodd Dafydd wrtho eto a dweud, "Y mae dy dad yn gwybod yn iawn imi gael ffafr yn d'olwg, a dywedodd, 'Nid yw Jonathan i wybod hyn, rhag iddo boeni.' Cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, a thithau hefyd, dim ond cam sydd rhyngof fi ac angau."
4Then said Jonathan unto David, Whatsoever thy soul desireth, I will even do it for thee.
4 Yna gofynnodd Jonathan i Ddafydd, "Beth a ddymuni imi ei wneud iti?"
5And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.
5 Ac meddai Dafydd wrth Jonathan, "Y mae'n newydd-loer yfory, a dylwn fod yno'n bwyta gyda'r brenin; gad imi fynd ac ymguddio yn y maes tan yr hwyr drennydd.
6If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
6 Os bydd dy dad yn holi'n arw amdanaf, dywed, 'Fe grefodd Dafydd am ganiatd gennyf i fynd draw i'w dref ei hun, Bethlehem, am fod yno aberth blynyddol i'r holl dylwyth.'
7If he say thus, It is well; thy servant shall have peace: but if he be very wroth, then be sure that evil is determined by him.
7 Os dywed, 'Popeth yn dda', yna y mae'n ddiogel i'th was; ond os cyll ei dymer, byddi'n gwybod ei fod yn bwriadu drwg.
8Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
8 Bydd yn deyrngar i'th was, oherwydd gwnaethost gyfamod mi gerbron yr ARGLWYDD. Ac os oes bai ynof, lladd fi dy hun; pam mynd mi at dy dad?"
9And Jonathan said, Far be it from thee: for if I knew certainly that evil were determined by my father to come upon thee, then would not I tell it thee?
9 Atebodd Jonathan, "Pell y bo hynny! Pe bawn i'n gwybod o gwbl fod fy nhad yn bwriadu drwg iti, oni fyddwn yn dweud wrthyt?"
10Then said David to Jonathan, Who shall tell me? or what if thy father answer thee roughly?
10 Gofynnodd Dafydd i Jonathan, "Pwy sydd i ddweud wrthyf os bydd dy dad yn rhoi ateb chwyrn iti?"
11And Jonathan said unto David, Come, and let us go out into the field. And they went out both of them into the field.
11 Dywedodd Jonathan wrth Ddafydd, "Tyrd, gad inni fynd i'r maes."
12And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about to morrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and show it thee;
12 Aeth y ddau allan i'r maes, ac meddai Jonathan wrth Ddafydd, "Cyn wired bod ARGLWYDD Dduw Israel yn fyw, mi holaf fy nhad tua'r adeg yma yfory am y trydydd tro; yna, os newydd da fydd i Ddafydd, anfonaf air i ddweud wrthyt.
13The LORD do so and much more to Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will show it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
13 Ond os yw fy nhad am wneud niwed iti, yna fel hyn y gwnelo'r ARGLWYDD i mi, Jonathan, a rhagor, os na fyddaf yn dweud wrthyt, er mwyn iti gael mynd ymaith yn ddiogel. Bydded yr ARGLWYDD gyda thi, fel y bu gyda'm tad.
14And thou shalt not only while yet I live show me the kindness of the LORD, that I die not:
14 Os byddaf fyw, gwna drugaredd mi yn enw'r ARGLWYDD.
15But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
15 Ond os byddaf farw, paid byth ag atal dy drugaredd oddi wrth fy nheulu. A phan fydd yr ARGLWYDD wedi torri ymaith holl elynion Dafydd oddi ar wyneb y tir,
16So Jonathan made a covenant with the house of David, saying, Let the LORD even require it at the hand of David's enemies.
16 na fydded Jonathan wedi ei dorri oddi wrth deulu Dafydd; a bydded i'r ARGLWYDD ddial ar elynion Dafydd."
17And Jonathan caused David to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.
17 Tyngodd Jonathan eto i Ddafydd am ei fod yn ei garu, oherwydd yr oedd yn ei garu fel ei enaid ei hun.
18Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty.
18 A dywedodd Jonathan wrtho, "Y mae'n newydd-loer yfory, a gwelir dy eisiau pan fydd dy le yn wag; a thrennydd byddant yn chwilio'n ddyfal amdanat.
19And when thou hast stayed three days, then thou shalt go down quickly, and come to the place where thou didst hide thyself when the business was in hand, and shalt remain by the stone Ezel.
19 Dos dithau i'r man yr ymguddiaist ynddo adeg y digwyddiad o'r blaen, ac aros yn ymyl y garreg fan draw.
20And I will shoot three arrows on the side thereof, as though I shot at a mark.
20 Saethaf finnau dair saeth i'w hymyl, fel pe bawn yn saethu at nod.
21And, behold, I will send a lad, saying, Go, find out the arrows. If I expressly say unto the lad, Behold, the arrows are on this side of thee, take them; then come thou: for there is peace to thee, and no hurt; as the LORD liveth.
21 Wedyn anfonaf y llanc a dweud, 'Dos i nl y saethau.' Os byddaf yn dweud wrth y llanc, 'Edrych, y mae'r saethau y tu yma iti; cymer hwy', yna tyrd, oherwydd y mae'n ddiogel iti, heb unrhyw berygl, cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw.
22But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.
22 Ond os dywedaf fel hyn wrth y llencyn: 'Edrych, y mae'r saethau y tu draw iti', yna dos, oherwydd y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn dy anfon i ffwrdd.
23And as touching the matter which thou and I have spoken of, behold, the LORD be between thee and me for ever.
23 Bydded yr ARGLWYDD yn dyst am byth rhyngof fi a thi yn y cytundeb hwn a wnaethom ein dau."
24So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.
24 Ymguddiodd Dafydd yn y maes; a phan ddaeth y newydd-loer,
25And the king sat upon his seat, as at other times, even upon a seat by the wall: and Jonathan arose, and Abner sat by Saul's side, and David's place was empty.
25 eisteddodd y brenin i lawr i fwyta'r pryd, a chymryd ei le arferol ar y sedd wrth y pared, gyda Jonathan gyferbyn, ac Abner yn eistedd wrth ochr Saul; ond roedd lle Dafydd yn wag.
26Nevertheless Saul spake not any thing that day: for he thought, Something hath befallen him, he is not clean; surely he is not clean.
26 Ni ddywedodd Saul ddim y diwrnod hwnnw, gan feddwl mai rhyw hap oedd, ac nad oedd yn ln.
27And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?
27 Ond pan oedd lle Dafydd yn wag drannoeth, ar ail ddiwrnod y newydd-loer, gofynnodd Saul i'w fab Jonathan, "Pam nad yw mab Jesse wedi dod i fwyta, ddoe na heddiw?"
28And Jonathan answered Saul, David earnestly asked leave of me to go to Bethlehem:
28 Atebodd Jonathan, "O, fe grefodd Dafydd arnaf am gael mynd i Fethlehem,
29And he said, Let me go, I pray thee; for our family hath a sacrifice in the city; and my brother, he hath commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favor in thine eyes, let me get away, I pray thee, and see my brethren. Therefore he cometh not unto the king's table.
29 a dweud, 'Gad imi fynd, oherwydd y mae gan y teulu aberth yn y dref, ac y mae fy mrawd wedi peri i mi fod yno; felly, os gweli di'n dda, gad imi fynd draw i weld fy mrodyr.' Dyna pam nad yw wedi dod at fwrdd y brenin."
30Then Saul's anger was kindled against Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother's nakedness?
30 Gwylltiodd Saul wrth Jonathan a dywedodd wrtho, "Ti fab putain anufudd! Oni wyddwn dy fod yn ochri gyda mab Jesse, er cywilydd i ti dy hun ac i warth dy fam?
31For as long as the son of Jesse liveth upon the ground, thou shalt not be established, nor thy kingdom. Wherefore now send and fetch him unto me, for he shall surely die.
31 Oherwydd tra bydd mab Jesse fyw ar y ddaear, ni fyddi di na'r frenhiniaeth yn ddiogel. Anfon ar unwaith a thyrd ag ef ataf, oherwydd y mae'n haeddu marw."
32And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done?
32 Atebodd Jonathan a dweud wrth ei dad, "Pam ei roi i farwolaeth? Beth y mae wedi ei wneud?"
33And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.
33 Yna hyrddiodd Saul waywffon ato i'w daro, a sylweddolodd Jonathan fod ei dad yn benderfynol o ladd Dafydd.
34So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
34 Felly cododd Jonathan oddi wrth y bwrdd yn wyllt ei dymer, a heb fwyta tamaid ar ail ddiwrnod y newydd-loer, am ei fod yn gofidio dros Ddafydd, a bod ei dad wedi rhoi sen arno yntau.
35And it came to pass in the morning, that Jonathan went out into the field at the time appointed with David, and a little lad with him.
35 Bore trannoeth aeth Jonathan allan i'r maes i gadw ei oed Dafydd, a llanc ifanc gydag ef.
36And he said unto his lad, Run, find out now the arrows which I shoot. And as the lad ran, he shot an arrow beyond him.
36 Dywedodd wrth y llanc, "Rhed di i nl y saethau y byddaf fi'n eu saethu." Tra oedd y llanc yn rhedeg, yr oedd ef yn saethu'r saethau y tu draw iddo.
37And when the lad was come to the place of the arrow which Jonathan had shot, Jonathan cried after the lad, and said, Is not the arrow beyond thee?
37 Wedi i'r llanc gyrraedd y man y disgynnodd y saethau, gwaeddodd Jonathan ar l y llanc, "Onid yw'r saethau y tu draw iti?" Yna gwaeddodd ar l y llanc, "Dos, brysia, paid sefyllian."
38And Jonathan cried after the lad, Make speed, haste, stay not. And Jonathan's lad gathered up the arrows, and came to his master.
38 Casglodd llanc Jonathan y saethau a'u dwyn yn l at ei feistr.
39But the lad knew not any thing: only Jonathan and David knew the matter.
39 Nid oedd y llanc yn sylweddoli dim, ond yr oedd Jonathan a Dafydd yn deall y neges.
40And Jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, Go, carry them to the city.
40 Rhoddodd Jonathan ei offer i'r llanc oedd gydag ef, a dweud wrtho, "Dos, cymer hwy'n l adref."
41And as soon as the lad was gone, David arose out of a place toward the south, and fell on his face to the ground, and bowed himself three times: and they kissed one another, and wept one with another, until David exceeded.
41 Wedi i'r llanc fynd, cododd Dafydd o'r tu l i'r garreg, a syrthio ar ei wyneb i'r llawr ac ymgrymu deirgwaith. Yna cusanodd y ddau ei gilydd ac wylo, yn enwedig Dafydd.
42And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have sworn both of us in the name of the LORD, saying, The LORD be between me and thee, and between my seed and thy seed for ever. And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
42 Ac meddai Jonathan wrth Ddafydd, "Dos mewn heddwch; yr ydym ein dau wedi tyngu yn enw'r ARGLWYDD y bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn dyst rhyngom ni a rhwng ein disgynyddion am byth." Yna aeth Dafydd i ffwrdd, a dychwelodd Jonathan adref.
