1And Samuel died; and all the Israelites were gathered together, and lamented him, and buried him in his house at Ramah. And David arose, and went down to the wilderness of Paran.
1 Bu farw Samuel, a daeth Israel gyfan ynghyd i alaru amdano a'i gladdu yn ei gartref yn Rama. Yna fe aeth Dafydd i ddiffeithwch Maon.
2And there was a man in Maon, whose possessions were in Carmel; and the man was very great, and he had three thousand sheep, and a thousand goats: and he was shearing his sheep in Carmel.
2 Yn Maon yr oedd dyn yn ffermio yng Ngharmel; yr oedd yn u373?r cyfoethog iawn, a chanddo dair mil o ddefaid a mil o eifr, ac yr oedd wrthi'n cneifio'i ddefaid yng Ngharmel.
3Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.
3 Nabal oedd enw'r dyn, ac Abigail oedd enw ei wraig. Yr oedd hi'n ddynes ddeallus a golygus, ond yr oedd y gu373?r un o lwyth Caleb yn galed ac anghwrtais.
4And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal did shear his sheep.
4 Clywodd Dafydd yn y diffeithwch fod Nabal yn cneifio'i ddefaid,
5And David sent out ten young men, and David said unto the young men, Get you up to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and greet him in my name:
5 ac anfonodd ddeg llanc a dweud wrthynt, "Ewch i fyny i Garmel, a mynd at Nabal a'i gyfarch yn f'enw;
6And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.
6 a dywedwch fel hyn wrth fy mrawd, 'Heddwch i ti ac i'th deulu a'th eiddo i gyd.
7And now I have heard that thou hast shearers: now thy shepherds which were with us, we hurt them not, neither was there ought missing unto them, all the while they were in Carmel.
7 Clywais dy fod yn cneifio. Bu dy fugeiliaid gyda ni, ac nid ydym wedi eu cam-drin na pheri dim colled iddynt, yr holl adeg y buont yng Ngharmel.
8Ask thy young men, and they will show thee. Wherefore let the young men find favor in thine eyes: for we come in a good day: give, I pray thee, whatsoever cometh to thine hand unto thy servants, and to thy son David.
8 Gofyn i'th lanciau, ac fe ddywedant wrthyt. Felly rho dderbyniad caredig i'm llanciau innau, oherwydd daethom ar ddiwrnod da; rho'r hyn sydd agosaf at dy law i'th weision ac i'th fab Dafydd.'"
9And when David's young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.
9 Daeth llanciau Dafydd a dweud y geiriau hyn i gyd yn enw Dafydd.
10And Nabal answered David's servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.
10 Wedi iddynt orffen, atebodd Nabal a dweud wrth weision Dafydd, "Pwy yw Dafydd, a phwy yw mab Jesse? Y mae llawer o weision yn dianc oddi wrth eu meistri y dyddiau hyn.
11Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be?
11 A wyf fi i gymryd fy mara a'm du373?r a'r cig a leddais ar gyfer fy nghneifwyr, a'u rhoi i ddynion na wn o ble y maent?"
12So David's young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.
12 Troes llanciau Dafydd i ffwrdd, a dychwelyd at Ddafydd a dweud hyn i gyd wrtho.
13And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.
13 Dywedodd Dafydd wrth ei ddynion, "Gwregyswch bawb ei gleddyf." Wedi iddynt hwy a Dafydd hefyd wregysu eu cleddyfau, aeth tua phedwar cant ohonynt i fyny ar l Dafydd, gan adael dau gant gyda'r offer.
14But one of the young men told Abigail, Nabal's wife, saying, Behold, David sent messengers out of the wilderness to salute our master; and he railed on them.
14 Yr oedd un o'r llanciau wedi dweud wrth Abigail, gwraig Nabal, "Clyw, fe anfonodd Dafydd negeswyr o'r diffeithwch i gyfarch ein meistr, ond fe'u difrodd.
15But the men were very good unto us, and we were not hurt, neither missed we any thing, as long as we were conversant with them, when we were in the fields:
15 Bu'r dynion yn dda iawn wrthym ni, heb ein cam-drin na pheri dim colled inni yr holl adeg y buom yn ymdroi gyda hwy pan oeddem yn y maes.
16They were a wall unto us both by night and day, all the while we were with them keeping the sheep.
16 Buont yn fur inni, nos a dydd, yr holl adeg y buom yn bugeilio'r praidd yn eu hymyl.
17Now therefore know and consider what thou wilt do; for evil is determined against our master, and against all his household: for he is such a son of Belial, that a man cannot speak to him.
17 Ystyria'n awr ac edrych beth y gelli ei wneud, oherwydd y mae drwg wedi ei bennu i'n meistr ac yn erbyn ei deulu i gyd, ond y mae ef yn ormod o ddihiryn i neb ddweud dim wrtho."
18Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.
18 Brysiodd Abigail a chymryd dau gan torth o fara a dwy botel o win, pum dafad wedi eu paratoi a phum hobaid o greision, a hefyd can swp o rawnwin a dau gant o ffigys. Llwythodd hwy ar asynnod,
19And she said unto her servants, Go on before me; behold, I come after you. But she told not her husband Nabal.
19 a dywedodd wrth ei gweision, "Ewch o'm blaen; byddaf finnau'n dod ar eich l." Ond ni ddywedodd ddim wrth ei gu373?r Nabal.
20And it was so, as she rode on the ass, that she came down by the covert on the hill, and, behold, David and his men came down against her; and she met them.
20 Fel yr oedd hi ar gefn ei hasyn yn dod i lawr llechwedd y mynydd, yr oedd Dafydd a'i wu375?r yn dod i lawr tuag ati, a chyfarfu hwy.
21Now David had said, Surely in vain have I kept all that this fellow hath in the wilderness, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained unto him: and he hath requited me evil for good.
21 Yr oedd Dafydd wedi dweud, "Y mae'n amlwg mai'n ofer y bm yn gwarchod holl eiddo hwn yn y diffeithwch, heb iddo golli dim o'r cwbl oedd ganddo; y mae wedi talu imi ddrwg am dda.
22So and more also do God unto the enemies of David, if I leave of all that pertain to him by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
22 Gwnaed Duw fel hyn i mi, a rhagor, os gadawaf ar l erbyn y bore un gwryw o'r rhai sy'n perthyn iddo."
23And when Abigail saw David, she hasted, and lighted off the ass, and fell before David on her face, and bowed herself to the ground,
23 Pan welodd Abigail Ddafydd, brysiodd i ddisgyn oddi ar yr asyn, ac ymgrymodd ar ei hwyneb a phlygu i'r llawr o flaen Dafydd.
24And fell at his feet, and said, Upon me, my lord, upon me let this iniquity be: and let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak in thine audience, and hear the words of thine handmaid.
24 Wedi iddi syrthio wrth ei draed, dywedodd, "Arnaf fi, syr, y bydded y bai; gad imi egluro'n awr, a gwrando dithau ar eiriau dy wasanaethferch.
25Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send.
25 Paid chymryd sylw o'r dihiryn yma, Nabal. Y mae yr un fath 'i enw: Nabal, sef Ynfyd, yw ei enw, ac ynfyd yw ei natur. Ni welais i, dy wasanaethferch, mo'r llanciau a anfonaist ti, syr.
26Now therefore, my lord, as the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, seeing the LORD hath withholden thee from coming to shed blood, and from avenging thyself with thine own hand, now let thine enemies, and they that seek evil to my lord, be as Nabal.
26 Felly'n awr, syr, cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, a thithau hefyd, gan i'r ARGLWYDD dy atal rhag dod i dywallt gwaed a dial drosot dy hun, bydded dy elynion a'r rhai sy'n ceisio drwg iti, syr, fel Nabal.
27And now this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought unto my lord, let it even be given unto the young men that follow my lord.
27 Yn awr, daeth dy wasanaethferch 'r rhodd hon iti, syr, i'w rhoi i'r llanciau sy'n dy ganlyn.
28I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee all thy days.
28 Maddau gamwri dy wasanaethferch, oherwydd yn sicr bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn creu olyniaeth sicr i ti, syr, am dy fod yn ymladd brwydrau'r ARGLWYDD; a byth ni cheir dim bai ynot.
29Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.
29 Os bydd unrhyw ddyn yn codi i'th erlid ac i geisio dy fywyd, bydd dy fywyd di, syr, wedi ei rwymo yn rhwymyn bywyd gyda'r ARGLWYDD dy Dduw; ond bydd bywyd dy elynion yn cael ei hyrddio fel carreg o ffon dafl.
30And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;
30 A phan fydd yr ARGLWYDD wedi gwneud daioni i ti, syr, yn l y cyfan a addawodd amdanat, ac wedi dy osod yn arweinydd dros Israel,
31That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offense of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid.
31 ni fydd hyn yn ofid nac yn boen cydwybod iti, sef dy fod wedi tywallt gwaed heb achos i ddial drosot dy hun. A phan fydd yr ARGLWYDD wedi bod yn dda wrthyt ti, syr, cofia dy wasanaethferch."
32And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:
32 Dywedodd Dafydd wrth Abigail, "Bendigedig fyddo'r ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, am iddo dy anfon di heddiw i'm cyfarfod.
33And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.
33 Bendith ar dy gyngor, ac arnat tithau, am iti fy atal heddiw rhag dod i dywallt gwaed a dial drosof fy hun.
34For in very deed, as the LORD God of Israel liveth, which hath kept me back from hurting thee, except thou hadst hasted and come to meet me, surely there had not been left unto Nabal by the morning light any that pisseth against the wall.
34 Yn wir iti, cyn wired bod yr ARGLWYDD, Duw Israel, yn fyw, yr un a'm hataliodd rhag dy ddrygu, oni bai dy fod wedi brysio i ddod i'm cyfarfod, ni fyddai'r un gwryw ar l gan Nabal erbyn y bore."
35So David received of her hand that which she had brought him, and said unto her, Go up in peace to thine house; see, I have hearkened to thy voice, and have accepted thy person.
35 Derbyniodd Dafydd o'i llaw yr hyn a ddygodd iddo, a dywedodd wrthi, "Dos adref mewn heddwch; edrych, yr wyf wedi gwrando arnat a chaniatu dy gais."
36And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal's heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
36 Pan ddaeth Abigail yn l at Nabal, yr oedd ganddo wledd yn ei du375? fel gwledd brenin. Am fod calon Nabal yn llawen, ac yntau'n feddw iawn, ni ddywedodd hi wrtho yr un gair, bach na mawr, hyd y bore.
37But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
37 Trannoeth, wedi i Nabal sobri, dywedodd ei wraig yr hanes wrtho, ac aeth ei galon yn farw o'i fewn ac aeth yntau fel carreg.
38And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
38 Ymhen tua deg diwrnod, trawodd yr ARGLWYDD Nabal a bu farw.
39And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
39 Pan glywodd Dafydd fod Nabal wedi marw, dywedodd, "Bendigedig fyddo'r ARGLWYDD, sydd wedi dial drosof am y sarhad gan Nabal; y mae wedi atal ei was rhag gwneud camwedd, ac wedi talu'r pwyth yn l i Nabal." Yna fe anfonodd Dafydd, a chynnig am Abigail i'w chymryd yn wraig iddo'i hun.
40And when the servants of David were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake unto her, saying, David sent us unto thee, to take thee to him to wife.
40 Daeth gweision Dafydd i Garmel at Abigail a dweud wrthi, "Y mae Dafydd wedi'n hanfon ni atat i'th gymryd yn wraig iddo."
41And she arose, and bowed herself on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.
41 Ar unwaith ymgrymodd hithau i'r llawr a dweud, "Dyma fi, yn barod i olchi traed gweision f'arglwydd fel caethferch."
42And Abigail hasted, and arose and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.
42 Paratdd Abigail ar unwaith i fynd, a marchogodd ar gefn asyn, gyda phump o'i morynion i'w chanlyn, a dilyn negeswyr Dafydd, a daeth yn wraig iddo.
43David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.
43 Priododd Dafydd hefyd Ahinoam o Jesreel, a bu'r ddwy yn wragedd iddo.
44But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.
44 Yr oedd Saul wedi rhoi ei ferch Michal, a fu'n wraig i Ddafydd, i Palti fab Lais, a oedd o Galim.
