¹And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?

¹ Daeth y Siffiaid at Saul i Gibea a dweud, "Onid yw Dafydd yn llechu ym mryn Hachila gyferbyn � Jesimon?"

²Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.

² Aeth Saul ar unwaith i lawr i ddiffeithwch Siff, a thair mil o wu375?r dewisol Israel gydag ef, i chwilio am Ddafydd yno.

³And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.

³ Gwersyllodd Saul ar y briffordd ym mryn Hachila gyferbyn � Jesimon, tra oedd Dafydd yn aros yn yr anialwch.

⁴David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.

⁴ Pan welodd Dafydd fod Saul yn dod i'r anialwch ar ei �l, anfonodd ysbiwyr a chael sicrwydd fod Saul wedi dod.

⁵And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.

⁵ Aeth Dafydd ar unwaith i'r man lle'r oedd Saul yn gwersyllu, a gweld lle'r oedd ef a'i gadfridog Abner fab Ner yn cysgu. Yr oedd Saul yn cysgu yng nghanol y gwersyll, a'r milwyr yn gwersyllu o'i gwmpas.

⁶Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.

⁶ Troes Dafydd a gofyn i Ahimelech yr Hethiad ac Abisai fab Serfia, brawd Joab, "Pwy a ddaw i lawr gyda mi i'r gwersyll at Saul?" Atebodd Abisai, "Fe ddof fi gyda thi."

⁷So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.

⁷ Aeth Dafydd ac Abisai i blith y milwyr liw nos, a dyna lle'r oedd Saul yn gorwedd ac yn cysgu yn y canol, a'i waywffon wedi ei gwthio i'r ddaear yn ymyl ei ben, ac Abner a'r milwyr yn gorwedd o'i amgylch.

⁸Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.

⁸ Dywedodd Abisai wrth Ddafydd, "Y mae'r ARGLWYDD wedi rhoi dy elyn heddiw yn dy law; gad imi ei drywanu i'r ddaear �'r waywffon ag un ergyd; ni fydd angen ail."

⁹And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?

⁹ Ond dywedodd Dafydd wrth Abisai, "Paid �'i ladd. Pwy a fedr estyn llaw yn erbyn eneiniog yr ARGLWYDD a bod yn ddieuog?"

¹⁰David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.

¹⁰ Ac ychwanegodd Dafydd, "Cyn wired � bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, bydd yr ARGLWYDD yn sicr o'i daro; un ai fe ddaw ei amser, a bydd farw, neu ynteu fe � i frwydr a cholli ei fywyd.

¹¹The LORD forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.

¹¹ Yr ARGLWYDD a'm gwaredo rhag i mi estyn fy llaw yn erbyn eneiniog yr ARGLWYDD. Cymer di y waywffon sydd wrth ei ben, a'i gostrel ddu373?r, ac fe awn."

¹²So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul's bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the LORD was fallen upon them.

¹² Cymerodd Dafydd y waywffon a'r gostrel ddu373?r oedd yn ymyl pen Saul, ac ymaith � hwy heb i neb weld na gwybod na deffro. Yr oedd pawb yn cysgu, am i'r ARGLWYDD anfon trymgwsg arnynt.

¹³Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them:

¹³ Dringodd Dafydd trwy'r bwlch a sefyll draw ar gopa'r mynydd, � chryn bellter rhyngddo a hwy.

¹⁴And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?

¹⁴ Yna gwaeddodd Dafydd ar y milwyr, ac ar Abner fab Ner, a dweud, "Pam nad wyt ti'n ateb, Abner fab Ner?" Atebodd Abner, "Pwy wyt ti, sy'n gweiddi ar y brenin?"

¹⁵And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.

¹⁵ Ac meddai Dafydd wrth Abner, "Onid wyt ti'n ddyn? Pwy sydd debyg i ti yn Israel? Pam ynteu na fyddit wedi gwarchod dy feistr, y brenin, pan ddaeth rhywun i'w ladd?

¹⁶This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the LORD liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.

¹⁶ Nid da yw'r peth hwn a wnaethost; cyn wired � bod yr ARGLWYDD yn fyw, yr ydych yn wir yn haeddu marw am beidio � gwarchod eich meistr, eneiniog yr ARGLWYDD. Edrych yn awr; ple mae gwaywffon y brenin, a'r gostrel ddu373?r oedd wrth ei ben?"

¹⁷And Saul knew David's voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.

¹⁷ Adnabu Saul lais Dafydd, a dywedodd, "Ai dy lais di ydyw, fy mab Dafydd?" Atebodd Dafydd, "Ie, f'arglwydd frenin."

¹⁸And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?

¹⁸ Ychwanegodd, "Pam y mae f'arglwydd yn erlid ei was? Beth a wneuthum, a pha ddrwg sydd ynof?

¹⁹Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the LORD have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the LORD; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the LORD, saying, Go, serve other gods.

¹⁹ Gwrandawed f'arglwydd frenin yn awr ar eiriau ei was. Os yr ARGLWYDD sydd wedi dy annog i'm herbyn, derbynied offrwm; ond os bodau meidrol, bydded iddynt fod dan felltith gerbron yr ARGLWYDD, am iddynt fy ngyrru allan heddiw rhag cael fy rhan yn etifeddiaeth yr ARGLWYDD, a dweud, 'Dos, addola dduwiau eraill.'

²⁰Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the LORD: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.

²⁰ Paid � gadael i'm gwaed ddisgyn i'r ddaear allan o bresenoldeb yr ARGLWYDD; oherwydd fe ddaeth brenin Israel allan i geisio chwannen, fel un yn hela petrisen mynydd."

²¹Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.

²¹ Ac meddai Saul, "Yr wyf ar fai; tyrd yn �l, fy mab Dafydd, oherwydd ni wnaf niwed iti eto, am i'm bywyd fod yn werthfawr yn dy olwg heddiw. B�m yn ynfyd, a chyfeiliornais yn enbyd."

²²And David answered and said, Behold the king's spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.

²² Yna atebodd Dafydd, "Dyma'r waywffon, O frenin; gad i un o'r llanciau ddod drosodd i'w chymryd.

²³The LORD render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the LORD delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the LORD's anointed.

²³ Y mae'r ARGLWYDD yn talu'n �l i bob un am ei gyfiawnder a'i ffyddlondeb; oherwydd fe roddodd yr ARGLWYDD di yn fy llaw heddiw, ond nid oeddwn am estyn fy llaw yn erbyn eneiniog yr ARGLWYDD.

²⁴And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.

²⁴ Fel y bu dy einioes di yn werthfawr yn fy ngolwg i heddiw, bydded f'einioes innau yn werthfawr yng ngolwg yr ARGLWYDD, i'm hachub o bob cyni."

²⁵Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.

²⁵ Dywedodd Saul wrth Ddafydd, "Bendith arnat, fy mab Dafydd; fe wnei di orchestion a llwyddo." Wedi hynny aeth Dafydd i ffwrdd, a dychwelodd Saul adref.
