1And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
1 Preswyliodd Jacob yng ngwlad Canaan, y wlad yr ymdeithiodd ei dad ynddi.
2These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father's wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
2 Dyma hanes tylwyth Jacob. Yr oedd Joseff yn ddwy ar bymtheg oed, ac yn bugeilio'r praidd gyda'i frodyr, gan helpu meibion Bilha a Silpa, gwragedd ei dad; a chariodd Joseff straeon drwg amdanynt i'w tad.
3Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors.
3 Yr oedd Israel yn caru Joseff yn fwy na'i holl blant, gan mai mab ei henaint ydoedd; a gwnaeth wisg laes iddo.
4And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
4 Pan welodd ei frodyr fod eu tad yn ei garu yn fwy na'r un ohonynt, rhoesant eu cas arno fel na fedrent ddweud gair caredig wrtho.
5And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
5 Cafodd Joseff freuddwyd, a phan ddywedodd wrth ei frodyr amdani, aethant i'w gasu yn fwy fyth.
6And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
6 Dywedodd wrthynt, "Gwrandewch, dyma'r freuddwyd a gefais:
7For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
7 yr oeddem yn rhwymo ysgubau yn y maes, a dyma f'ysgub i yn codi ar ei sefyll, a daeth eich ysgubau chwi yn gylch o'i chwmpas ac ymgrymu i'm hysgub i."
8And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
8 Yna gofynnodd ei frodyr iddo, "Ai ti sydd i deyrnasu arnom? A fyddi di'n arglwydd arnom ni?" Ac aethant i'w gasu ef yn fwy eto o achos ei freuddwydion a'i eiriau.
9And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
9 Yna cafodd freuddwyd arall, ac adroddodd amdani wrth ei frodyr a dweud, "Cefais freuddwyd arall: dyna lle'r oedd yr haul a'r lleuad ac un seren ar ddeg yn ymgrymu i mi."
10And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
10 Wedi iddo ei hadrodd wrth ei dad a'i frodyr, ceryddodd ei dad ef, a dweud, "Beth yw'r freuddwyd hon a gefaist? A ddown ni, myfi a'th fam a'th frodyr, i ymgrymu i'r llawr i ti?"
11And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
11 A chenfigennodd ei frodyr wrtho, ond cadwodd ei dad y peth yn ei gof.
12And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
12 Yr oedd ei frodyr wedi mynd i fugeilio praidd eu tad ger Sichem.
13And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
13 A dywedodd Israel wrth Joseff, "Onid yw dy frodyr yn bugeilio ger Sichem? Tyrd, fe'th anfonaf di atynt." Atebodd yntau, "o'r gorau."
14And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
14 Yna dywedodd wrtho, "Dos i weld sut y mae dy frodyr a'r praidd, a thyrd gair yn l i mi." Felly anfonodd ef o ddyffryn Hebron, ac aeth tua Sichem.
15And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?
15 Cyfarfu gu373?r ag ef pan oedd yn crwydro yn y fro, a gofyn iddo, "Beth wyt ti'n ei geisio?"
16And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.
16 Atebodd yntau, "Rwy'n ceisio fy mrodyr; dywed wrthyf ble maent yn bugeilio."
17And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
17 A dywedodd y gu373?r, "Y maent wedi mynd oddi yma, oherwydd clywais hwy'n dweud, 'Awn i Dothan.'" Felly aeth Joseff ar l ei frodyr, a chafodd hyd iddynt yn Dothan.
18And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
18 Gwelsant ef o bell, a chyn iddo gyrraedd atynt gwnaethant gynllwyn i'w ladd,
19And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
19 a dweud wrth ei gilydd, "Dacw'r breuddwydiwr hwnnw'n dod.
20Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
20 Dewch, gadewch inni ei ladd a'i daflu i ryw bydew, a dweud fod anifail gwyllt wedi ei ddifa; yna cawn weld beth a ddaw o'i freuddwydion."
21And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.
21 Ond pan glywodd Reuben, achubodd ef o'u gafael a dweud, "Peidiwn 'i ladd."
22And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
22 Dywedodd Reuben wrthynt, "Peidiwch thywallt gwaed; taflwch ef i'r pydew hwn sydd yn y diffeithwch, ond peidiwch gwneud niwed iddo." Dywedodd hyn er mwyn ei achub o'u gafael a'i ddwyn yn l at ei dad.
23And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stripped Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colors that was on him;
23 A phan ddaeth Joseff at ei frodyr, tynasant ei wisg oddi arno, y wisg laes yr oedd yn ei gwisgo,
24And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
24 a'i gymryd a'i daflu i'r pydew. Yr oedd y pydew yn wag, heb ddu373?r ynddo.
25And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmaelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
25 Tra oeddent yn eistedd i fwyta, codasant eu golwg a gweld cwmni o Ismaeliaid yn dod ar eu taith o Gilead, a'u camelod yn dwyn glud pr, balm a myrr, i'w cludo i lawr i'r Aifft.
26And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
26 A dywedodd Jwda wrth ei frodyr, "Faint gwell fyddwn o ladd ein brawd a chelu ei waed?
27Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
27 Dewch, gadewch inni ei werthu i'r Ismaeliaid; peidiwn gwneud niwed iddo, oherwydd ein brawd ni a'n cnawd ydyw." Cytunodd ei frodyr.
28Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
28 Yna, pan ddaeth marchnatwyr o Midian heibio, codasant Joseff o'r pydew, a'i werthu i'r Ismaeliaid am ugain sicl o arian. Aethant hwythau Joseff i'r Aifft.
29And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.
29 Pan aeth Reuben yn l at y pydew a gweld nad oedd Joseff ynddo, rhwygodd ei ddillad
30And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?
30 a mynd at ei frodyr a dweud, "Nid yw'r bachgen yno; a minnau, i ble'r af?"
31And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
31 Cymerasant wisg Joseff, a lladd gafr, a throchi'r wisg yn y gwaed.
32And they sent the coat of many colors, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son's coat or no.
32 Yna aethant 'r wisg laes yn l at eu tad, a dweud, "Daethom o hyd i hon; edrych di ai gwisg dy fab ydyw."
33And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
33 Fe'i hadnabu a dywedodd, "Gwisg fy mab yw hi; anifail gwyllt sydd wedi ei ddifa. Yn wir, y mae Joseff wedi ei larpio."
34And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
34 Yna rhwygodd Jacob ei ddillad a gwisgo sachliain am ei lwynau, a galarodd am ei fab am amser hir.
35And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
35 A daeth pob un o'i feibion a'i ferched i'w gysuro, ond gwrthododd dderbyn cysur, a dywedodd, "Mewn galar yr af finnau i lawr i'r bedd at fy mab." Ac wylodd ei dad amdano.
36And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh's, and captain of the guard.
36 Gwerthodd y Midianiaid ef yn yr Aifft i Potiffar, swyddog Pharo, pennaeth y gwarchodwyr.
