²O God! zwijg niet, houd U niet als doof, en zijt niet stil, o God!

³They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

³Want zie, Uw vijanden maken getier, en Uw haters steken het hoofd op.

⁴They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

⁴Zij maken listiglijk een heimelijken aanslag tegen Uw volk, en beraadslagen zich tegen Uw verborgenen.

⁵For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:

⁵Zij hebben gezegd: Komt, en laat ons hen uitroeien, dat zij geen volk meer zijn; dat aan den naam Israels niet meer gedacht worde.

⁶The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;

⁶Want zij hebben in het hart te zamen geraadslaagd; tegen U hebben zij een verbond gemaakt;

⁷Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;

⁷De tenten van Edom en der Ismaelieten, Moab en de Hagarenen;

⁸Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.

⁹Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:

⁹Ook heeft zich Assur bij hen gevoegd; zij zijn den kinderen van Lot tot een arm geweest. Sela.

¹⁰Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.

¹⁰Doe hun als Midian, als Sisera, als Jabin aan de beek Kison;

¹¹Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:

¹¹Die verdelgd zijn te Endor; zij zijn geworden tot drek der aarde.

¹²Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.

¹²Maak hen en hun prinsen als Oreb en als Zeeb, en al hun vorsten als Zebah en als Zalmuna;

¹³O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.

¹³Die zeiden: Laat ons de schone woningen Gods voor ons in erfelijke bezitting nemen.

¹⁴As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;

¹⁴Mijn God! maak hen als een wervel, als stoppelen voor den wind.

¹⁵So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

¹⁵Gelijk het vuur een woud verbrandt, en gelijk de vlam de bergen aansteekt;

¹⁶Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.

¹⁶Vervolg hen alzo met Uw onweder, en verschrik hen met Uw draaiwind.

¹⁷Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:

¹⁷Maak hun aangezicht vol schande, opdat zij, o HEERE! Uw Naam zoeken.

¹⁸That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

¹⁸Laat hen beschaamd en verschrikt wezen tot in eeuwigheid, en laat hen schaamrood worden, en omkomen; [ (Psalms 83:19) Opdat zij weten, dat Gij alleen met Uw Naam zijt de HEERE, de Allerhoogste over de ganse aarde. ]
