¹Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

¹Siis rääkis suhiit Bildad ja ütles:

²How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

²'Kui kaua sa tahad seda kuulutada, kui kaua on sõnad su suust nagu tugev tuul?

³Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

³Kas Jumal peaks väänama õigust või Kõigevägevam väänama õiglust?

⁴If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;

⁴Kui su lapsed pattu tegid tema vastu, siis ta andis nad nende üleastumise võimusesse.

⁵If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;

⁵Kui sa otsid Jumalat ja anud Kõigevägevamat,

⁶If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

⁶kui sa oled aus ja otsekohene, siis ta ärkab nüüd sinu pärast ja taastab su eluaseme, nagu see peab olema.

⁷Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.

⁷Ja olgugi su algus väike, sa saad siiski lõpuks väga suureks.

⁸For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:

⁹(For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)

⁹Sest meie oleme eilsed ega tea midagi, meie päevad maa peal on ju nagu vari.

¹⁰Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?

¹⁰Eks nad õpeta sind ja räägi sulle ja too oma südamest sõnu esile?

¹¹Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?

¹¹Kas kõrkjas kasvab seal, kus pole muda, või sirgub pilliroog ilma veeta?

¹²Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.

¹²Alles veel kasvujõus, lõikamata, kuivab see kiiremini kui kõik muu rohi.

¹³So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish:

¹³Niisugune lõpp on kõigil, kes unustavad Jumala, ja jumalatu inimese lootus kaob.

¹⁴Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web.

¹⁴Ta usk on härmalõnga sarnane ja ta usaldus on otsekui ämblikuvõrk.

¹⁵He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

¹⁵Ta toetub oma kojale, aga see ei pea vastu, ta haarab sellest kinni, aga see ei jää püsti.

¹⁶He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.

¹⁶Ta haljendab päikese paistel ja tema võsud levivad üle ta aia.

¹⁷His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.

¹⁷Ta juured on põimunud kivikangrusse, ta näeb kivide koda.

¹⁸If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

¹⁸Aga kui Jumal hävitab tema ta asemelt, siis ta salgab teda: 'Ma ei ole sind näinudki!'

¹⁹Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.

¹⁹Vaata, niipalju oligi temal teekonnarõõmu. Ja mullast võrsub juba teine.

²⁰Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:

²⁰Vaata, Jumal ei hülga vaga ega võta kinni pahategijate käest.

²¹Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.

²¹Veel täidab ta sinu suu naeruga ja su huuled hõiskamisega.

²²They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.

²²Kes sind vihkavad, peavad ennast katma häbiga ja õelate telki ei ole enam.'
