¹And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged;

¹Mutta Jumala ei unohtanut Nooaa eikä villieläimiä ja karjaeläimiä, jotka olivat arkissa hänen muka- naan, vaan pani tuulen puhaltamaan maan yli, ja vedet lakkasivat nousemasta.

²The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;

²Syvyyden lähteet ja taivaan ikkunat sulkeutuivat, ja sade taukosi.

³And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

³Vedet väistyivät väistymistään maan päältä, ja sadanviidenkymmenen päivän kuluttua vedet olivat alentuneet niin paljon,

⁴And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

⁴että arkki pysähtyi seitsemännen kuun seitsemäntenätoista päivänä Arara- tin vuoristoon.

⁵And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

⁵Vedet vähenivät vähenemistään kymmenenteen kuuhun saakka, ja kymmenennen kuun ensimmäisenä päivänä tulivat vuorten huiput näky- viin.

⁶And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:

⁶Kun vielä neljäkymmentä päivää oli kulunut, Nooa avasi arkin ikkunaluukun, jonka hän oli tehnyt,

⁷And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

⁷ja päästi lentoon korpin. Se lähti ja lenteli edestakaisin, kunnes vedet olivat kuivuneet maan päältä.

⁸Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;

⁸Sitten hän lähetti luotaan kyyhkysen saadakseen tietää, joko maa oli tullut esiin veden alta,

⁹But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.

⁹mutta se ei löytänyt jalansijaa, mihin jäädä levähtämään, vaan palasi hänen luokseen arkkiin, sillä vesi peitti yhä koko maan pinnan. Ja hän ojensi kätensä ja otti kyyhkysen luokseen arkkiin.

¹⁰And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;

¹⁰Hän odotti vielä seitsemän päivää ja lähetti kyyhkysen uudelleen arkista.

¹¹And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf plucked off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

¹¹Kun kyyhkynen illansuussa palasi hänen luokseen, sillä oli nokassaan tuore oliivipuun lehti. Siitä Nooa ymmärsi, että vedet olivat käyneet vähiin maan päällä.

¹²And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.

¹²Hän odotti silti seitsemän päivää lisää ja päästi kyyhkysen jälleen lentoon, eikä se enää palannut hänen luokseen.

¹³And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

¹³Ensimmäisenä päivänä ensimmäistä kuuta sinä vuonna, jona Nooa täytti kuusisataayksi vuotta, vedet eivät enää peittäneet maata. Nooa poisti arkin katon ja näki, että maan pinta oli kuivunut.

¹⁴And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

¹⁴Toisen kuun kahdentenakymmenentenäseitsemäntenä päivänä maa oli kokonaan kuiva.

¹⁵And God spake unto Noah, saying,

¹⁵Silloin Jumala sanoi Nooalle:

¹⁶Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.

¹⁶"Lähde ulos arkista ja ota mukaan vaimosi, poikasi ja poikiesi vaimot.

¹⁷Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.

¹⁷Vie mukanasi ulos kaikki eläimet, jotka ovat luonasi, kaikki elävät olennot, linnut, karjaeläimet ja maan päällä liikkuvat pikkueläimet. Vilisköön maa niitä jälleen, ja olkoot ne hedelmälliset ja lisääntykööt maan päällä."

¹⁸And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:

¹⁸Niin Nooa lähti poikiensa, vaimonsa ja poikiensa vaimojen kanssa ulos,

¹⁹Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

¹⁹ja kaikki eläimet, kaikki pikkueläimet, linnut ja kaikki maan päällä liikkuvat, lähtivät suvuittain arkista.

²⁰And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

²⁰Sitten Nooa rakensi alttarin Herralle, otti kaikkia uhrikelpoisia karjaeläimiä ja uhrikelpoisia lintuja ja uhrasi ne polttouhrina alttarilla.

²¹And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.

²¹Ja kun Herra tunsi uhrisavun tuoksun, hän sanoi mieles- sään: "Minä en enää koskaan kiroa maata ihmisen tähden, vaikka ihmisen ajatukset ja teot ovat pahat nuoruudesta saakka, enää en hävitä kaikkea elävää, niin kuin tein.

²²While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

²²-- Niin kauan kuin maa pysyy, ei lakkaa kylvö eikä korjuu, ei vilu eikä helle, ei kesä eikä talvi, ei päivä eikä yö."
