¹I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

¹Jumalan armahtavaan laupeuteen vedoten kehotan teitä, veljet: Antakaa koko elämänne pyhäksi ja eläväksi, Jumalalle mieluisaksi uhriksi. Näin te palvelette Jumalaa järjellisellä tavalla.

²And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

²Älkää mukautuko tämän maailman menoon, vaan muuttukaa, uudistukaa mieleltänne, niin että osaatte arvioida, mikä on Jumalan tahto, mikä on hyvää, hänen mielensä mukaista ja täydellistä.

³For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

³Sen armon perusteella, joka minulle on annettu, sanon teille jokaiselle: älkää ajatelko itsestänne liikoja, enempää kuin on aihetta ajatella, vaan pitäkää ajatuksenne kohtuuden rajoissa, kukin sen uskon määrän mukaan, jonka Jumala on hänelle antanut.

⁴For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:

⁴Niin kuin meillä jokaisella on yksi ruumis ja siinä monta jäsentä, joilla on eri tehtävänsä,

⁵So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

⁵samoin me kaikki olemme Kristuksessa yksi ruumis mutta olemme kukin toistemme jäseniä.

⁶Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

⁶Meillä on saamamme armon mukaan erilaisia armolahjoja. Se, jolla on profetoimisen lahja, käyttäköön sitä sen mukaan kuin hänellä on uskoa.

⁷Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;

⁷Palvelutehtävän saanut palvelkoon, opetustehtävän saanut opettakoon,

⁸Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

⁸rohkaisemisen lahjan saanut rohkaiskoon. Joka antaa omastaan, antakoon pyyteettömästi; joka johtaa, johtakoon tarmokkaasti; joka auttaa köyhiä, auttakoon iloisin mielin.

⁹Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

⁹Olkoon rakkautenne vilpitöntä. Vihatkaa pahaa, pysykää kiinni hyvässä.

¹⁰Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

¹⁰Osoittakaa toisillenne lämmintä veljesrakkautta, kunnioittakaa kilvan toinen toistanne.

¹¹Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

¹¹Älkää olko velttoja, olkaa innokkaita, palakoon teissä Hengen tuli, palvelkaa Herraa.

¹²Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

¹²Toivokaa ja iloitkaa, ahdingossa olkaa kestäviä, rukoilkaa hellittämättä.

¹³Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.

¹³Auttakaa puutteessa olevia pyhiä, osoittakaa vieraanvaraisuutta.

¹⁴Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

¹⁴Siunatkaa niitä, jotka teitä vainoavat, siunatkaa älkääkä kirotko.

¹⁵Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.

¹⁵Iloitkaa iloitsevien kanssa, itkekää itkevien kanssa.

¹⁶Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

¹⁶Olkaa keskenänne yksimielisiä. Älkää pitäkö itseänne muita parempina, vaan asettukaa vähäosaisten rinnalle. Älkää olko omasta mielestänne viisaita.

¹⁷Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.

¹⁷Älkää maksako kenellekään pahaa pahalla, vaan pyrkikää siihen, mikä on hyvää kaikkien silmissä.

¹⁸If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

¹⁸Jos on mahdollista ja jos teistä riippuu, eläkää rauhassa kaikkien kanssa.

¹⁹Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

¹⁹Älkää ottako oikeutta omiin käsiinne, rakkaat ystävät, vaan antakaa Jumalan osoittaa vihansa. Onhan kirjoitettu: "Minun on tuomio, minä maksan tekojen mukaan" -- näin sanoo Herra.

²⁰Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.

²⁰Edelleen sanotaan: "Jos vihamiehelläsi on nälkä, anna hänelle ruokaa, jos hänellä on jano, anna juotavaa. Näin keräät tulisia hiiliä hänen päänsä päälle."

²¹Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

²¹Älä anna pahan voittaa itseäsi, vaan voita sinä paha hyvällä.
