¹But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:

¹Aber der König Salomo liebte viele ausländische Frauen neben der Tochter des Pharao: moabitische, ammonitische, edomitische, zidonische und hetitische,

²Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

²aus den Völkern, von denen der HERR den Kindern Israel gesagt hatte: Geht nicht zu ihnen und lasset sie nicht zu euch kommen, denn sie werden gewiß eure Herzen zu ihren Göttern neigen! An diesen hing Salomo mit Liebe.

³And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

³Und er hatte siebenhundert fürstliche Frauen und dreihundert Nebenfrauen; und seine Frauen neigten sein Herz.

⁴For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.

⁴Denn als Salomo alt war, neigten seine Frauen sein Herz fremden Göttern zu, daß sein Herz nicht mehr so vollkommen mit dem HERRN, seinem Gott, war wie das Herz seines Vaters David.

⁵For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

⁵Also lief Salomo der Astarte nach, der Gottheit der Zidonier, und Milkom, dem Greuel der Ammoniter.

⁶And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

⁶Und Salomo tat, was böse war in den Augen des HERRN, und folgte dem Herrn nicht gänzlich nach, wie sein Vater David.

⁷Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

⁷Auch baute Salomo eine Höhe dem Kamos, dem Greuel der Moabiter, auf dem Berge, der vor Jerusalem liegt, und dem Moloch, dem Greuel der Kinder Ammon.

⁸And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

⁸Und ebenso tat er für alle seine ausländischen Frauen, die ihren Göttern räucherten und opferten.

⁹And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,

⁹Aber der HERR ward zornig über Salomo, weil sein Herz sich abgewandt hatte von dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, der ihm zweimal erschienen war,

¹⁰And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.

¹⁰ja, der ihm gerade darüber Befehl gegeben hatte, daß er nicht andern Göttern nachwandeln solle; aber er beachtete nicht, was ihm der HERR geboten hatte.

¹¹Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.

¹¹Darum sprach der HERR zu Salomo: Weil solches von dir geschehen ist und du meinen Bund nicht bewahrt hast, noch meine Satzungen, die ich dir geboten habe, so will ich dir gewiß das Königreich entreißen und es deinem Knechte geben.

¹²Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

¹²Doch zu deiner Zeit will ich es nicht tun, um deines Vaters David willen; der Hand deines Sohnes will ich es entreißen.

¹³Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.

¹³Nur will ich ihm nicht das ganze Reich entreißen; einen Stamm will ich deinem Sohne geben, um meines Knechtes David und um Jerusalems willen, die ich erwählt habe.

¹⁴And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

¹⁴Und der HERR erweckte dem Salomo einen Widersacher, Hadad, den Edomiter, er war vom königlichen Samen in Edom.

¹⁵For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

¹⁵Denn als David in Edom war, und als Joab, der Feldhauptmann, hinaufzog, um die Erschlagenen zu begraben, erschlug er, was männlich war in Edom.

¹⁶(For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

¹⁶Denn Joab blieb sechs Monate lang daselbst mit ganz Israel, bis er alles ausgerottet hatte, was in Edom männlich war.

¹⁷That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.

¹⁷Da floh Hadad und mit ihm etliche Edomiter von den Knechten seines Vaters, um nach Ägypten zu gehen; Hadad aber war noch ein kleiner Knabe.

¹⁸And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

¹⁸Und sie machten sich auf von Midian und kamen gen Paran, nahmen Leute mit sich aus Paran und kamen nach Ägypten zum Pharao, dem König von Ägypten; der gab ihm ein Haus, versprach ihm Nahrung und gab ihm Land.

¹⁹And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

¹⁹Und Hadad fand große Gnade beim Pharao, so daß er ihm auch seiner Gemahlin Schwester, die Schwester der Gebieterin Tachpenes, zum Weibe gab.

²⁰And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.

²⁰Und die Schwester der Tachpenes gebar ihm Genubat, seinen Sohn, und Tachpenes zog ihn auf im Hause des Pharao, so daß Genubat im Hause des Pharao unter den Kindern des Pharao war.

²¹And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.

²¹Als nun Hadad in Ägypten hörte, daß David sich zu seinen Vätern gelegt habe, und daß Joab, der Feldhauptmann, tot sei, sprach Hadad zum Pharao: Laß mich in mein Land ziehen!

²²Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

²²Der Pharao sprach zu ihm: Was mangelt dir bei mir, daß du in dein Land ziehen willst? Er sprach: Nichts; aber laß mich gehen!

²³And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:

²³Und Gott erweckte ihm noch einen Widersacher, Reson, den Sohn Eljadas, der von seinem Herrn Hadad-Eser, dem König zu Zoba, geflohen war.

²⁴And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

²⁴Der sammelte Männer um sich und war Rottenführer, als David sie schlug; und sie zogen nach Damaskus und wohnten daselbst und regierten zu Damaskus.

²⁵And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

²⁵Und er war Israels Widersacher, solange Salomo lebte, außer dem Übel, das Hadad tat; und er hatte einen Widerwillen gegen Israel und wurde König über Syrien.

²⁶And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

²⁶Auch Jerobeam, der Sohn Nebats, ein Ephraimiter von Zareda, Salomos Knecht, dessen Mutter, eine Witwe, Zeruha hieß, erhob die Hand wider den König.

²⁷And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

²⁷Und dies ist der Anlaß, bei welchem er die Hand wider den König erhob: Salomo baute Millo und schloß damit eine Lücke an der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters.

²⁸And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valor: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

²⁸Nun war Jerobeam ein tüchtiger Mann; als aber Salomo sah, daß der Jüngling arbeitsam war, setzte er ihn über alle Lastträger des Hauses Josephs.

²⁹And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

²⁹Es begab sich aber zu jener Zeit, als Jerobeam aus Jerusalem wegging, fand ihn der Prophet Achija von Silo auf dem Wege; der hatte einen neuen Mantel an, und sie waren beide allein auf dem Felde.

³⁰And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

³⁰Und Achija faßte den neuen Mantel, den er anhatte, und zerriß ihn in zwölf Stücke

³¹And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

³¹und sprach zu Jerobeam: Nimm die zehn Stücke! Denn also spricht der HERR, der Gott Israels: Siehe, ich will das Königreich der Hand Salomos entreißen und dir zehn Stämme geben.

³²(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)

³²Einen Stamm soll er haben, um meines Knechtes David und um der Stadt Jerusalem willen, die ich aus allen Stämmen Israels erwählt habe;

³³Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

³³darum, weil sie mich verlassen und Astarte, die Gottheit der Zidonier, Kamos, den Gott der Moabiter, und Milkom, den Gott der Ammoniter, angebetet haben und nicht in meinen Wegen gewandelt sind, um zu tun, was in meinen Augen recht ist, nach meinen Satzungen und Rechten, wie sein Vater David getan hat.

³⁴Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

³⁴Doch will ich nicht das ganze Reich aus seiner Hand nehmen, sondern ich will ihn als Fürst belassen sein Leben lang, um meines Knechtes David willen, den ich erwählt habe, der meine Gebote und Satzungen beobachtet hat.

³⁵But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

³⁵Aber ich will das Königreich aus der Hand seines Sohnes nehmen und dir zehn Stämme geben;

³⁶And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

³⁶und will seinem Sohn einen Stamm geben, daß mein Knecht David immerdar vor mir eine Leuchte habe in der Stadt Jerusalem, die ich mir erwählt habe, um meinen Namen dahin zu setzen.

³⁷And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.

³⁷So will ich nun dich nehmen, und du sollst regieren über alles, was dein Herz begehrt und König sein über Israel.

³⁸And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

³⁸Wirst du nun allem gehorchen, was ich dir gebieten werde, und in meinen Wegen wandeln und tun, was in meinen Augen recht ist, daß du meine Satzungen und meine Gebote beobachtest, wie mein Knecht David getan hat, so will ich mit dir sein und dir ein beständiges Haus bauen, wie ich es David gebaut habe, und will dir Israel geben.

³⁹And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.

³⁹Und ich will den Samen Davids um deswillen demütigen, doch nicht immerdar!

⁴⁰Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

⁴⁰Salomo aber trachtete, Jerobeam zu töten; da machte sich Jerobeam auf und floh nach Ägypten zu Sisak, dem König von Ägypten, und verblieb in Ägypten, bis Salomo starb.

⁴¹And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

⁴¹Was aber mehr von Salomo zu sagen ist, und alles, was er getan hat, und seine Weisheit, ist das nicht geschrieben im Buche der Geschichte Salomos?

⁴²And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

⁴²Die Zeit aber, während welcher Salomo über ganz Israel zu Jerusalem regierte, beträgt vierzig Jahre.

⁴³And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

⁴³Und Salomo entschlief mit seinen Vätern und ward begraben in der Stadt Davids, seines Vaters; und Rehabeam, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
