¹And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,

¹Während sie aber zum Volk redeten, traten die Priester und der Hauptmann des Tempels und die Sadduzäer auf sie zu.

²Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

²Die verdroß es, daß sie das Volk lehrten und in Jesus die Auferstehung von den Toten verkündigten.

³And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide.

³Und sie legten Hand an sie und setzten sie ins Gefängnis bis zum folgenden Morgen, denn es war schon Abend.

⁴Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand.

⁴Viele aber von denen, die das Wort gehört hatten, wurden gläubig. Und die Zahl der Männer stieg auf etwa fünftausend.

⁵And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,

⁵Es geschah aber am folgenden Morgen, daß sich ihre Obersten und Ältesten und Schriftgelehrten in Jerusalem versammelten,

⁶And Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.

⁶auch Hannas, der Hohepriester, und Kajaphas und Johannes und Alexander und alle, die aus hohepriesterlichem Geschlechte waren.

⁷And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?

⁷Und sie stellten sie in ihre Mitte und fragten sie: Aus welcher Macht oder in welchem Namen habt ihr das getan?

⁸Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

⁸Da sprach Petrus, vom heiligen Geist erfüllt, zu ihnen: Ihr Obersten des Volkes und ihr Ältesten von Israel,

⁹If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;

⁹wenn wir heute wegen der Wohltat an einem kranken Menschen verhört und gefragt werden, durch wen ihm geholfen worden sei,

¹⁰Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

¹⁰so sei euch allen und dem ganzen Volke Israel kund, daß durch den Namen Jesu Christi, des Nazareners, den ihr gekreuzigt, den Gott von den Toten auferweckt hat, daß durch ihn dieser gesund vor euch steht.

¹¹This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

¹¹Das ist der Stein, der von euch, den Bauleuten, verschmäht wurde, der zum Eckstein geworden ist.

¹²Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

¹²Und es ist in keinem andern das Heil; denn es ist auch kein anderer Name unter dem Himmel den Menschen gegeben, in welchem wir sollen gerettet werden!

¹³Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

¹³Als sie aber die Freimütigkeit des Petrus und Johannes sahen und erfuhren, daß sie ungelehrte Leute und Laien seien, verwunderten sie sich und erkannten sie, daß sie mit Jesus gewesen waren.

¹⁴And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

¹⁴Da sie aber den Menschen bei ihnen stehen sahen, der geheilt worden war, konnten sie nichts dagegen sagen.

¹⁵But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,

¹⁵Da hießen sie sie aus dem Hohen Rate abtreten und beratschlagten miteinander und sprachen:

¹⁶Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.

¹⁶Was wollen wir diesen Menschen tun? Denn daß ein offenkundiges Zeichen durch sie geschehen ist, das ist allen Bewohnern von Jerusalem bekannt, und wir können es nicht leugnen.

¹⁷But that it spread no further among the people, let us straitly threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

¹⁷Aber damit es sich nicht weiter unter dem Volk verbreite, wollen wir ihnen ernstlich drohen, damit sie hinfort mit keinem Menschen mehr von diesem Namen reden.

¹⁸And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

¹⁸Und sie ließen sie rufen und geboten ihnen, durchaus nicht mehr in dem Namen Jesu zu reden noch zu lehren.

¹⁹But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

¹⁹Petrus aber und Johannes antworteten ihnen und sprachen: Entscheidet ihr selbst, ob es vor Gott recht ist, euch mehr zu gehorchen als Gott;

²⁰For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

²⁰denn es ist uns unmöglich, nicht von dem zu reden, was wir gesehen und gehört haben.

²¹So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

²¹Sie aber drohten ihnen noch weiter und ließen sie frei, weil sie keinen Weg fanden, sie zu bestrafen, wegen des Volkes; denn alle priesen Gott über dem, was geschehen war;

²²For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.

²²denn der Mensch war über vierzig Jahre alt, an welchem dieses Zeichen der Heilung geschehen war.

²³And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

²³Als sie aber freigelassen waren, kamen sie zu den Ihrigen und verkündigten alles, was die Hohenpriester und die Ältesten zu ihnen gesagt hatten.

²⁴And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

²⁴Sie aber, da sie es hörten, erhoben einmütig ihre Stimme zu Gott und sprachen: Herr, du bist der Gott, der den Himmel und die Erde und das Meer und alles, was darinnen ist, gemacht hat;

²⁵Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

²⁵der du durch den Mund unsres Vaters David, deines Knechtes, gesagt hast: «Warum toben die Heiden und nehmen sich die Völker vor, was umsonst ist?

²⁶The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

²⁶Die Könige der Erde treten zusammen, und die Fürsten versammeln sich miteinander wider den Herrn und wider seinen Gesalbten.»

²⁷For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

²⁷Ja wahrlich, es haben sich versammelt in dieser Stadt wider deinen heiligen Sohn Jesus, welchen du gesalbt hast, Herodes und Pontius Pilatus mit den Heiden und dem Volke Israel,

²⁸For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

²⁸zu tun, was deine Hand und dein Rat zuvor beschlossen hatte, daß es geschehen sollte.

²⁹And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

²⁹Und nun, Herr, siehe an ihre Drohungen und verleihe deinen Knechten, mit aller Freimütigkeit dein Wort zu reden;

³⁰By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

³⁰indem du deine Hand ausstreckst zur Heilung, und daß Zeichen und Wunder geschehen durch den Namen deines heiligen Sohnes Jesus!

³¹And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

³¹Und als sie gebetet hatten, erbebte die Stätte, wo sie versammelt waren, und sie wurden alle mit dem heiligen Geist erfüllt und redeten das Wort Gottes mit Freimütigkeit.

³²And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.

³²Die Menge der Gläubigen aber war ein Herz und eine Seele; und auch nicht einer sagte, daß etwas von seinen Gütern sein eigen sei, sondern alles war ihnen gemeinsam.

³³And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

³³Und mit großer Kraft legten die Apostel das Zeugnis ab von der Auferstehung des Herrn Jesus, und große Gnade war auf ihnen allen.

³⁴Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,

³⁴Es litt auch niemand unter ihnen Mangel; denn die, welche Besitzer von Äckern oder Häusern waren, verkauften sie und brachten den Erlös des Verkauften

³⁵And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

³⁵und legten ihn den Aposteln zu Füßen; und man teilte einem jeglichen aus, je nachdem einer es bedurfte.

³⁶And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,

³⁶Joses aber, von den Aposteln zubenannt Barnabas (das heißt übersetzt: «Sohn des Trostes»), ein Levit, aus Cypern gebürtig,

³⁷Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

³⁷der einen Acker hatte, verkaufte ihn, brachte das Geld und legte es den Aposteln zu Füßen.
