¹And this is the blessing, wherewith Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.

¹Dies ist der Segen, mit welchem Mose, der Mann Gottes, die Kinder Israel vor seinem Tode gesegnet hat.

²And he said, The LORD came from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he came with ten thousands of saints: from his right hand went a fiery law for them.

²Er sprach: Der HERR kam vom Sinai, sein Licht ging ihnen auf von Seir her: er ließ es leuchten vom Gebirge Paran und kam von heiligen Zehntausenden her, aus seiner Rechten ging ein feuriges Gesetz für sie.

³Yea, he loved the people; all his saints are in thy hand: and they sat down at thy feet; every one shall receive of thy words.

³Ja, er hat die Völker lieb; alle seine Heiligen waren in deiner Hand; und sie lagerten zu deinen Füßen, ein jeder nahm von deinen Worten.

⁴Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob.

⁴Mose hat uns das Gesetz anbefohlen, das Erbteil der Gemeinde Jakobs.

⁵And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.

⁵Und er ward König über Jeschurun, als sich die Häupter des Volkes versammelten, sich vereinigten die Stämme Israels.

⁶Let Reuben live, and not die; and let not his men be few.

⁶Ruben lebe und sterbe nicht; seine Leute sollen zu zählen sein!

⁷And this is the blessing of Judah: and he said, Hear, LORD, the voice of Judah, and bring him unto his people: let his hands be sufficient for him; and be thou an help to him from his enemies.

⁷Und für Juda sprach er: HERR, du wollest Judas Stimme hören und ihn bringen zu seinem Volk! Hat er mit seinen Händen zu streiten, so hilf du ihm vor seinen Feinden!

⁸And of Levi he said, Let thy Thummim and thy Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou didst strive at the waters of Meribah;

⁸Von Levi aber sagte er: Deine Rechte und deine Lichter gehören deinem heiligen Mann, den du versucht hast zu Massa, mit dem du gehadert hast am Haderwasser;

⁹Who said unto his father and to his mother, I have not seen him; neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor knew his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant.

⁹welcher von seinem Vater und von seiner Mutter sagt: «Ich sehe sie nicht!» und seine Brüder nicht kennt und von seinen Söhnen nichts weiß; denn deine Worte beobachteten und deinen Bund bewahrten sie;

¹⁰They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law: they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thine altar.

¹⁰die werden Jakob deine Rechte lehren und Israel dein Gesetz; sie werden Räucherwerk vor deine Nase legen und ganze Opfer auf deinen Altar.

¹¹Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands; smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.

¹¹Segne, HERR, sein Vermögen, und laß dir seiner Hände Werk gefallen; zerschmettere die Lenden seiner Widersacher und seiner Hasser, damit sie nicht aufkommen!

¹²And of Benjamin he said, The beloved of the LORD shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders.

¹²Zu Benjamin sprach er: Des Herrn Liebling möge sicher wohnen; ihn schirme er, ja ihn, den ganzen Tag, und wohne zwischen seinen Schultern!

¹³And of Joseph he said, Blessed of the LORD be his land, for the precious things of heaven, for the dew, and for the deep that coucheth beneath,

¹³Von Joseph aber sagte er: Sein Land sei vom HERRN gesegnet mit himmlischen Gütern, mit Tau und mit der Flut, die drunten ruht;

¹⁴And for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun, and for the precious things put forth by the moon,

¹⁴mit der köstlichen Frucht, die in der Sonne reift, und mit den köstlichen Früchten, welche die Monde sprossen lassen;

¹⁵And for the chief things of the ancient mountains, and for the precious things of the lasting hills,

¹⁵mit dem Besten, was auf den uralten Bergen wächst, und mit den köstlichen Früchten, welche die ewigen Hügel tragen;

¹⁶And for the precious things of the earth and fulness thereof, and for the good will of him that dwelt in the bush: let the blessing come upon the head of Joseph, and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren.

¹⁶mit dem Besten, was auf der Erde wächst und sie erfüllt; und das Wohlgefallen dessen, der im Busche wohnt, komme auf Josephs Haupt und auf den Scheitel des Geweihten unter seinen Brüdern!

¹⁷His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.

¹⁷Prächtig ist er wie sein erstgeborener Stier, Hörner hat er wie ein Büffel; damit stößt er die Völker allzumal bis an die Enden der Erde. Das sind die Zehntausende von Ephraim und jenes die Tausende von Manasse!

¹⁸And of Zebulun he said, Rejoice, Zebulun, in thy going out; and, Issachar, in thy tents.

¹⁸Und zu Sebulon sprach er: Freue dich, Sebulon, deiner Reisen, und du, Issaschar, deiner Hütten!

¹⁹They shall call the people unto the mountain; there they shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: for they shall suck of the abundance of the seas, and of treasures hid in the sand.

¹⁹Sie werden Völker auf den Berg einladen, um daselbst Opfer der Gerechtigkeit darzubringen; denn den Reichtum des Meeres werden sie saugen und die verborgenen Schätze des Sandes.

²⁰And of Gad he said, Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad: he dwelleth as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of the head.

²⁰Und zu Gad sprach er: Gesegnet sei, der Gad Raum schafft! Wie eine Löwin legt er sich nieder und zerreißt Arm und Scheitel.

²¹And he provided the first part for himself, because there, in a portion of the lawgiver, was he seated; and he came with the heads of the people, he executed the justice of the LORD, and his judgments with Israel.

²¹Und er ersah sich das erste Stück; daselbst lag das Teil eines Anführers bereit; und er trat an die Spitze des Volkes, vollstreckte des HERRN Gerechtigkeit und seine Gerichte, vereint mit Israel.

²²And of Dan he said, Dan is a lion's whelp: he shall leap from Bashan.

²²Und zu Dan sprach er: Dan ist ein junger Leu, der aus Basan hervorschießt.

²³And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full with the blessing of the LORD: possess thou the west and the south.

²³Und zu Naphtali sprach er: Naphtali werde gesättigt mit Gnade und voll vom Segen des HERRN; Meer und Mittag seien sein!

²⁴And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil.

²⁴Und zu Asser sprach er: Asser sei der gesegnetste Sohn; er sei der Liebling seiner Brüder und tauche seinen Fuß in Öl!

²⁵Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be.

²⁵Eisen und Erz seien deine Riegel; und wie deine Tage, so sei deine Kraft!

²⁶There is none like unto the God of Jeshurun, who rideth upon the heaven in thy help, and in his excellency on the sky.

²⁶Niemand ist gleich dem Gott Jeschuruns, der dir zu Hilfe am Himmel einherfährt und auf den Wolken in seiner Majestät.

²⁷The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

²⁷Eine Zuflucht ist der alte Gott, und unter dir breitet er ewige Arme aus. Er hat die Feinde vor dir her gejagt und zu dir gesagt: Vertilge sie!

²⁸Israel then shall dwell in safety alone: the fountain of Jacob shall be upon a land of corn and wine; also his heavens shall drop down dew.

²⁸Und so kann Israel sicher wohnen; abgesondert der Quell Jakobs, in einem Lande voll Korn und Most; und sein Himmel träufelt Tau.

²⁹Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.

²⁹Wohl dir, Israel! Wer ist dir gleich, du Volk, das durch den HERRN gerettet ist? Er ist dein hilfreicher Schild und dein siegreiches Schwert. Deine Feinde werden dir schmeicheln, du aber sollst über ihre Höhen wegschreiten.
