¹And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

¹Als aber Jabin, der König zu Hazor, solches hörte, sandte er Botschaft zu Jobab, dem König zu Madon, und zum König von Simron und zum König zu Achsaph

²And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

²und zu den Königen, die gegen Mitternacht, auf dem Gebirge und in der Ebene südlich von Genezaret und in den Tälern und in den Gegenden zu Dor am Meere wohnten,

³And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

³und zu den Kanaanitern gegen Morgen und Abend, zu dem Amoriter, Hetiter, Pheresiter und Jebusiter auf dem Gebirge und zu dem Heviter unten am Berge Hermon im Lande Mizpa.

⁴And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

⁴Und diese zogen aus mit ihrem ganzen Heer, ein großes Volk, so zahlreich wie der Sand des Meeres, mit sehr viel Rossen und Wagen.

⁵And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

⁵Alle diese Könige versammelten sich und kamen und lagerten sich miteinander am Wasser Merom, um mit Israel zu streiten.

⁶And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

⁶Und der HERR sprach zu Josua: Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, denn morgen um diese Zeit gebe ich sie alle erschlagen vor den Kindern Israel hin; ihre Rosse sollst du lähmen und ihre Wagen mit Feuer verbrennen.

⁷So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

⁷Und Josua und alles Kriegsvolk mit ihm kam plötzlich über sie am Wasser Merom und fiel über sie her;

⁸And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephothmaim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

⁸und der HERR gab sie in die Hand Israels; und sie schlugen sie und jagten sie bis zu der großen Stadt Zidon und bis zu den warmen Quellen und bis zum Tal Mizpa, gegen Morgen; und sie schlugen sie, bis ihnen nicht einer übrigblieb.

⁹And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

⁹Da tat ihnen Josua, wie der HERR ihm gesagt hatte: ihre Rosse lähmte er, und ihre Wagen verbrannte er mit Feuer.

¹⁰And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

¹⁰Und Josua kehrte um zu derselben Zeit und eroberte Hazor und schlug seinen König mit dem Schwert; denn Hazor war zuvor die Hauptstadt aller dieser Königreiche;

¹¹And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

¹¹und er schlug alle Leute, die darin waren, mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und vollstreckte den Bann an ihnen und ließ nichts übrigbleiben, was Odem hatte, und verbrannte Hazor mit Feuer.

¹²And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.

¹²Dazu gewann Josua alle Städte dieser Könige samt allen ihren Königen und schlug sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes und vollstreckte den Bann an ihnen; wie Mose, der Knecht des HERRN, geboten hatte.

¹³But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.

¹³Aber keine der Städte, die auf ihrem Hügel standen, verbrannte Israel; ausgenommen Hazor, das allein verbrannte Josua.

¹⁴And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

¹⁴Und die Kinder Israel teilten unter sich alle Beute dieser Städte und das Vieh; aber alle Menschen schlugen sie mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, bis sie dieselben vertilgt hatten, und ließen nichts übrigbleiben, was Odem hatte.

¹⁵As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

¹⁵Wie der HERR seinem Knecht Mose und wie Mose Josua geboten, also tat Josua, so daß nichts fehlte an allem, was der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.

¹⁶So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

¹⁶Also nahm Josua dieses ganze Land ein: das Gebirge und alles, was gegen Mittag liegt, und das ganze Land Gosen und die Täler und die Ebene und das Gebirge Israel mit seinen Tälern;

¹⁷Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baalgad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

¹⁷von dem kahlen Gebirge an, welches gegen Seir aufsteigt, bis gen Baal-Gad im Tal des Libanon, unten am Berge Hermon. Und alle ihre Könige ergriff er und schlug sie und tötete sie.

¹⁸Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

¹⁸Lange Zeit führte Josua Krieg mit allen diesen Königen.

¹⁹There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

¹⁹Und es war keine Stadt, die sich den Kindern Israel friedlich ergab, ausgenommen die Heviter, welche zu Gibeon wohnten; sie gewannen dieselben alle im Kampf.

²⁰For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favor, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁰Denn es geschah von dem HERRN, daß ihr Herz verstockt wurde, mit den Kindern Israel zu streiten, auf daß an ihnen der Bann vollstreckt würde und ihnen keine Gnade widerführe, sondern daß sie vertilgt würden; wie der HERR dem Mose geboten hatte.

²¹And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

²¹Und Josua kam zu jener Zeit und rottete die Enakiter aus von dem Gebirge, von Hebron, von Debir, von Anab, von dem ganzen Gebirge Juda und dem ganzen Gebirge Israel, und er vollstreckte an ihnen samt ihren Städten den Bann.

²²There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

²²Und er ließ keinen dieser Enakiter übrigbleiben im Lande der Kinder Israel, außer zu Gaza, zu Gat und zu Asdod; daselbst blieb ein Rest übrig.

²³So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.

²³Also nahm Josua das ganze Land ein, genau so, wie der HERR zu Mose geredet hatte, und gab es Israel zum Erbe, einem jeden Stamm seinen Teil; und das Land ruhte aus vom Kriege.
