¹This then was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah by their families; even to the border of Edom the wilderness of Zin southward was the uttermost part of the south coast.

¹Und das Los des Stammes der Kinder Juda nach ihren Geschlechtern lag an der Grenze von Zin gegen Mittag, am südlichen Ende.

²And their south border was from the shore of the salt sea, from the bay that looketh southward:

²Und ihre südliche Grenze beginnt am Ende des Salzmeeres, bei der Zunge, die mittagwärts reicht,

³And it went out to the south side to Maalehacrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadeshbarnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa:

³und zieht sich hinaus gegen Mittag zur Höhe von Akrabbim und hinüber gen Zin und wieder von Mittag gen Kadesch-Barnea hinauf und nach Hezron hin und gen Adar hinauf und wendet sich gegen Karka;

⁴From thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.

⁴dann geht sie hinüber nach Azmon und hinaus an den Bach Ägyptens, so daß das Meer das Ende der Grenze bildet. Das sei eure südliche Grenze!

⁵And the east border was the salt sea, even unto the end of Jordan. And their border in the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the uttermost part of Jordan:

⁵Aber die östliche Grenze ist das Salzmeer bis zur Mündung des Jordan. Die Grenze des nördlichen Teils aber beginnt bei der Zunge des Meeres an der Mündung des Jordan

⁶And the border went up to Bethhogla, and passed along by the north of Betharabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben:

⁶und geht hinauf gen Beth-Hogla und zieht sich von Mitternacht gen Beth-Araba und kommt herauf zum Stein Bohan,

⁷And the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is before the going up to Adummim, which is on the south side of the river: and the border passed toward the waters of Enshemesh, and the goings out thereof were at Enrogel:

⁷des Sohnes Rubens, und geht von dem Tal Achor hinauf gen Debir und wendet sich nördlich gegen Gilgal, welches der Anhöhe Adummim gegenüber liegt, das südlich an dem Bache liegt. Darnach geht sie zu dem Wasser En-Semes und kommt hinaus zum Brunnen Rogel,

⁸And the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom unto the south side of the Jebusite; the same is Jerusalem: and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lieth before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of the giants northward:

⁸geht darnach hinauf zum Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms, an der Seite der Jebusiter gegen Mittag, das ist Jerusalem; und sie kommt herauf zur Spitze des Berges, der westlich vor dem Tal Hinnom liegt und nördlich an das Ende des Tales Rephaim stößt.

⁹And the border was drawn from the top of the hill unto the fountain of the water of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of mount Ephron; and the border was drawn to Baalah, which is Kirjathjearim:

⁹Darnach kommt sie von der Spitze desselben Berges zu der Quelle des Wassers Nephtoach und kommt heraus zu den Städten des Gebirges Ephron und neigt sich gen Baala, das ist Kirjat-Jearim.

¹⁰And the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went down to Bethshemesh, and passed on to Timnah:

¹⁰Und die Grenze wendet sich herum von Baala gegen Abend zum Gebirge Seir und geht hinüber nach dem nördlichen Bergrücken Jearim, das ist Kesalon, und kommt herab gen Beth-Semes und geht nach Timna;

¹¹And the border went out unto the side of Ekron northward: and the border was drawn to Shicron, and passed along to mount Baalah, and went out unto Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

¹¹sodann läuft die Grenze weiter nördlich bis zum Bergrücken von Ekron und zieht sich gen Sikron und geht über den Berg Baala und kommt heraus gen Jabneel; also daß das Meer das Ende dieser Grenze bildet.

¹²And the west border was to the great sea, and the coast thereof. This is the coast of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

¹²Die Grenze aber gegen Abend ist das große Meer und sein Gestade. Das ist die Grenze der Kinder Juda, nach ihren Geschlechtern, ringsum.

¹³And unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a part among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of the LORD to Joshua, even the city of Arba the father of Anak, which city is Hebron.

¹³Aber Kaleb, dem Sohn Jephunnes, gab er sein Teil unter den Kindern Juda nach dem Befehl des HERRN an Josua, nämlich die Stadt Arba, des Vaters Enaks, das ist Hebron.

¹⁴And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

¹⁴Und Kaleb vertrieb von dannen die drei Söhne Enaks, Sesai, Achiman und Talmai, die Enakskinder,

¹⁵And he went up thence to the inhabitants of Debir: and the name of Debir before was Kirjathsepher.

¹⁵und zog von dannen hinauf zu den Einwohnern von Debir. Debir aber hieß vor Zeiten Kirjat-Sepher.

¹⁶And Caleb said, He that smiteth Kirjathsepher, and taketh it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.

¹⁶Und Kaleb sprach: Wer Kirjat-Sepher schlägt und erobert, dem will ich meine Tochter Achsa zum Eheweib geben!

¹⁷And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.

¹⁷Da gewann sie Otniel, der Sohn Kenas, des Bruders Kalebs; und er gab ihm seine Tochter Achsa zum Eheweib.

¹⁸And it came to pass, as she came unto him, that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she lighted off her ass; and Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou?

¹⁸Und es begab sich, als sie einzog, trieb sie ihn an, von ihrem Vater einen Acker zu fordern. Und sie sprang vom Esel. Da sprach Kaleb zu ihr:

¹⁹Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs.

¹⁹Was hast du? Sie sprach: Gib mir einen Segen, denn du hast mir ein dürres Land gegeben; gib mir auch Wasserquellen! Da gab er ihr Wasserquellen, die obern und die untern.

²⁰This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

²¹And the uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the coast of Edom southward were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

²¹Und die äußersten Städte des Stammes der Kinder Juda, gegen die Grenze der Edomiter im Süden, waren diese: Kabzeel,

²²Eder, Jagur, Kina, Dimona, Adada,

²³And Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

²³Kedesch, Hazor, Jitnan, Siph, Telem,

²⁴Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

²⁴Bealot, Hazor-Hadatta, Keriot-Hezron,

²⁵And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor,

²⁵welches Hazor ist,

²⁶Amam, and Shema, and Moladah,

⁴⁵Ekron, mit seinen Dörfern und Höfen.

⁴⁶From Ekron even unto the sea, all that lay near Ashdod, with their villages:

⁴⁶Von Ekron und bis an das Meer alles, was an Asdod grenzt und ihre Dörfer:

⁴⁷Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border thereof:

⁴⁷Asdod mit seinen Dörfern und Höfen, Gaza mit seinen Höfen und Dörfern, bis an den Bach Ägyptens, und das große Meer ist seine Grenze.

⁴⁸And in the mountains, Shamir, and Jattir, and Socoh,

⁴⁸Auf dem Gebirge aber waren Samir, Jattir, Socho,

⁴⁹And Dannah, and Kirjathsannah, which is Debir,

⁴⁹Danna, Kirjat-Sanna, welches Debir ist,

⁵⁰And Anab, and Eshtemoh, and Anim,

⁵⁰Anab, Estemo, Anim, Gosen, Holon, Gilo.

⁵¹And Goshen, and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages:

⁵⁹And Maarath, and Bethanoth, and Eltekon; six cities with their villages:

⁵⁹Das sind sechs Städte und ihre Dörfer.

⁶⁰Kirjathbaal, which is Kirjathjearim, and Rabbah; two cities with their villages:

⁶⁰Kirjat-Baal, das ist Kirjat-Jearim, und Rabba. Das sind zwei Städte und ihre Dörfer.

⁶¹In the wilderness, Betharabah, Middin, and Secacah,

⁶¹In der Wüste aber waren Beth-Araba, Middin,

⁶²And Nibshan, and the city of Salt, and Engedi; six cities with their villages.

⁶²Sechacha, Nibsan und die Salzstadt und Engedi. Das sind sechs Städte und ihre Dörfer.

⁶³As for the Jebusites the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not drive them out; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem unto this day.

⁶³Die Kinder Juda aber konnten die Jebusiter, welche zu Jerusalem wohnten, nicht vertreiben. Also wohnten die Jebusiter mit den Kindern Juda zu Jerusalem bis auf diesen Tag.
