¹And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

¹Als er aber aufblickte, sah er, wie die Reichen ihre Gaben in den Gotteskasten legten.

²And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

²Er sah aber auch eine auf ihren Verdienst angewiesene Witwe, die legte dort zwei Scherflein ein;

³And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

³und er sprach: Wahrlich, ich sage euch, diese arme Witwe hat mehr als alle eingelegt!

⁴For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

⁴Denn diese alle haben von ihrem Überfluße zu den Gaben beigetragen; sie aber hat aus ihrer Armut heraus alles eingelegt, was sie zum Lebensunterhalt besaß.

⁵And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

⁵Und als etliche von dem Tempel sagten, daß er mit schönen Steinen und Weihgeschenken geschmückt sei, sprach er:

⁶As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

⁶Was ihr da sehet, es werden Tage kommen, wo kein Stein auf dem andern bleiben wird, der nicht zerstört würde!

⁷And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

⁷Sie fragten ihn aber und sprachen: Meister, wann wird denn das geschehen, und welches wird das Zeichen sein, wann es geschehen soll?

⁸And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

⁸Er sprach: Sehet zu, daß ihr nicht irregeführt werdet! Denn viele werden kommen unter meinem Namen und sagen: Ich bin es! und: Die Zeit ist nahe! Laufet ihnen nicht nach!

⁹But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

⁹Wenn ihr aber von Kriegen und Unruhen hören werdet, so erschrecket nicht; denn das muß zuvor geschehen; aber das Ende kommt nicht so bald.

¹⁰Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

¹⁰Dann sprach er zu ihnen: Ein Volk wird sich über das andere erheben und ein Reich über das andere;

¹¹And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

¹¹und große Erdbeben werden sein hin und wieder, Seuchen und Hungersnöte; und Schrecknisse und große Zeichen vom Himmel werden sich einstellen.

¹²But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

¹²Vor diesem allem aber werden sie Hand an euch legen und euch verfolgen und in Synagogen und Gefängnisse überliefern und vor Könige und Fürsten führen um meines Namens willen.

¹³And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

¹³Das wird euch aber Gelegenheit zum Zeugnis geben.

¹⁴Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

¹⁴So nehmet euch nun zu Herzen, daß ihr eure Verteidigung nicht vorher überlegen sollt;

¹⁵For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

¹⁵denn ich will euch Mund und Weisheit geben, welcher alle eure Widersacher nicht sollen widersprechen noch widerstehen können.

¹⁶And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

¹⁶Ihr werdet aber auch von Eltern und Brüdern und Verwandten und Freunden überantwortet werden, und man wird etliche von euch töten,

¹⁷And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

¹⁷und ihr werdet von allen gehaßt sein um meines Namens willen.

¹⁸But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

¹⁸Und kein Haar von eurem Haupte wird verloren gehen.

¹⁹In your patience possess ye your souls.

¹⁹Durch eure Geduld gewinnet eure Seelen!

²⁰And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

²⁰Wenn ihr aber Jerusalem von Kriegsheeren belagert sehet, alsdann erkennet, daß ihre Verwüstung nahe ist.

²¹Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

²¹Alsdann fliehe, wer in Judäa ist, auf die Berge; und wer in der Stadt ist, der entweiche daraus; und wer auf dem Lande ist, gehe nicht hinein.

²²For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

²²Denn das sind Tage der Rache, damit alles erfüllt werde, was geschrieben steht.

²³But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

²³Wehe aber den Schwangern und den Säugenden in jenen Tagen, denn es wird große Not im Lande sein und ein Zorn über dieses Volk!

²⁴And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

²⁴Und sie werden fallen durch die Schärfe des Schwerts und gefangen weggeführt werden unter alle Völker; und Jerusalem wird zertreten werden von den Heiden, bis die Zeiten der Heiden erfüllt sind.

²⁵And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

²⁵Und es werden Zeichen geschehen an Sonne und Mond und Sternen, und auf Erden Angst der Völker vor Ratlosigkeit bei dem Tosen des Meeres und der Wogen,

²⁶Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

²⁶da die Menschen in Ohnmacht sinken werden vor Furcht und Erwartung dessen, was über den Erdkreis kommen soll; denn die Kräfte des Himmels werden in Bewegung geraten.

²⁷And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

²⁷Und dann werden sie des Menschen Sohn kommen sehen in einer Wolke mit großer Kraft und Herrlichkeit.

²⁸And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

²⁸Wenn aber dieses zu geschehen anfängt, so richtet euch auf und erhebet eure Häupter, weil eure Erlösung naht.

²⁹And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

²⁹Und er sagte ihnen ein Gleichnis: Sehet den Feigenbaum und alle Bäume!

³⁰When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

³⁰Wenn ihr sie schon ausschlagen sehet, so merket ihr von selbst, daß der Sommer jetzt nahe ist.

³¹So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

³¹Also auch, wenn ihr sehet, daß dieses geschieht, so merket ihr, daß das Reich Gottes nahe ist.

³²Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

³²Wahrlich, ich sage euch, dieses Geschlecht wird nicht vergehen, bis alles geschehen sein wird.

³³Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

³³Himmel und Erde werden vergehen, aber meine Worte werden nicht vergehen.

³⁴And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

³⁴Habt aber acht auf euch selbst, daß eure Herzen nicht beschwert werden durch Rausch und Trunkenheit und Nahrungssorgen und jener Tag unversehens über euch komme!

³⁵For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

³⁵Denn wie ein Fallstrick wird er über alle kommen, die auf dem ganzen Erdboden wohnen.

³⁶Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

³⁶Darum wachet jederzeit und bittet, daß ihr gewürdigt werdet, zu entfliehen diesem allem, was geschehen soll, und zu stehen vor des Menschen Sohn!

³⁷And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

³⁷Er war aber tagsüber im Tempel und lehrte, des Nachts aber ging er hinaus und übernachtete an dem Berge, welcher Ölberg heißt.

³⁸And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

³⁸Und alles Volk kam früh zu ihm in den Tempel, um ihn zu hören.
