1After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
1Es war aber zwei Tage vor dem Passah und dem Fest der ungesäuerten Brote. Und die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten suchten, wie sie ihn mit List ergreifen und töten könnten;
2But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people.
2denn sie sprachen: Nicht auf das Fest, damit nicht ein Aufruhr unter dem Volk entsteht!
3And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
3Und da er zu Bethanien im Hause Simons des Aussätzigen war und zu Tische saß, kam ein Weib mit einer alabasternen Flasche voll Salbe, echter köstlicher Narde, zerbrach die alabasterne Flasche und goß sie aus auf sein Haupt.
4And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
4Es wurden aber etliche unwillig bei sich selbst und sprachen: Wozu ist diese Verschwendung der Salbe geschehen?
5For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
5Man hätte doch diese Salbe um mehr als dreihundert Denare verkaufen und es den Armen geben können. Und sie zürnten ihr.
6And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
6Jesus aber sprach: Lasset sie! Warum bekümmert ihr sie? Sie hat ein edles Werk an mir getan.
7For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.
7Denn die Armen habt ihr allezeit bei euch, und wenn ihr wollt, könnt ihr ihnen Gutes tun; mich aber habt ihr nicht allezeit.
8She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.
8Sie hat getan, was sie konnte; sie hat zum voraus meinen Leib zum Begräbnis gesalbt.
9Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
9Wahrlich, ich sage euch, wo immer dieses Evangelium gepredigt wird in der ganzen Welt, da wird man auch sagen, was diese getan hat, zu ihrem Gedächtnis.
10And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them.
10Da ging Judas Ischariot, einer von den Zwölfen, hin zu den Hohenpriestern, um ihn an sie auszuliefern.
11And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. And he sought how he might conveniently betray him.
11Als sie das hörten, wurden sie froh und versprachen ihm Geld zu geben. Und er suchte eine passende Gelegenheit, um ihn zu verraten.
12And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?
12Und am ersten Tage der ungesäuerten Brote, da man das Passahlamm schlachtete, sprachen seine Jünger zu ihm: Wo willst du, daß wir hingehen und das Passah zubereiten, damit du es essen kannst?
13And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him.
13Und er sendet zwei seiner Jünger und spricht zu ihnen: Gehet in die Stadt; da wird euch ein Mensch begegnen, der einen Wasserkrug trägt; dem folget,
14And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
14und wo er hineingeht, da sprechet zum Hausherrn: Der Meister läßt fragen: Wo ist meine Herberge, in der ich mit meinen Jüngern das Passah essen kann?
15And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.
15Und er wird euch einen großen Saal zeigen, der mit Polstern belegt und gerüstet ist, daselbst bereitet es für uns zu.
16And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.
16Und seine Jünger gingen hin und kamen in die Stadt und fanden es, wie er ihnen gesagt hatte, und bereiteten das Passah.
17And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.
17Und da es Abend geworden, kam er mit den Zwölfen.
18And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.
18Und als sie zu Tische saßen und aßen, sprach Jesus: Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Einer von euch, der mit mir ißt, wird mich verraten!
19And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?
19Da fingen sie an traurig zu werden und fragten ihn einer nach dem andern: Doch nicht ich?
20And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish.
20Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Einer von den Zwölfen, der mit mir in die Schüssel taucht!
21The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
21Des Menschen Sohn geht zwar dahin, wie von ihm geschrieben steht; aber wehe dem Menschen, durch welchen des Menschen Sohn verraten wird! Es wäre besser, wenn jener Mensch nicht geboren wäre!
22And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.
22Und während sie aßen, nahm Jesus Brot, lobpreisete, brach und gab es ihnen und sprach: Nehmet, das ist mein Leib.
23And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.
23Und er nahm den Kelch, sagte Dank und gab ihnen denselben; und sie tranken alle daraus.
24And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.
24Und er sprach zu ihnen: Das ist mein Blut des neuen Bundes, welches für viele vergossen wird.
25Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.
25Wahrlich, ich sage euch, ich werde hinfort nicht mehr von dem Gewächs des Weinstocks trinken bis zu jenem Tag, da ich es neu trinken werde im Reiche Gottes.
26And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
26Und nachdem sie den Lobgesang gesungen hatten, gingen sie hinaus an den Ölberg.
27And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.
27Und Jesus spricht zu ihnen: Ihr werdet euch alle an mir ärgern. Denn es steht geschrieben: «Ich werde den Hirten schlagen, und die Schafe werden sich zerstreuen.»
28But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.
28Aber nachdem ich auferstanden bin, will ich euch nach Galiläa vorangehen.
29But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.
29Petrus aber sprach zu ihm: Wenn sich auch alle ärgern werden, doch nicht ich!
30And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.
30Und Jesus spricht zu ihm: Wahrlich, ich sage dir, heute in dieser Nacht, ehe der Hahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen!
31But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.
31Er aber sagte desto mehr: Wenn ich mit dir sterben müßte, werde ich dich nicht verleugnen. Gleicherweise sprachen aber auch alle.
32And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane: and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.
32Und sie kommen in ein Gut, genannt Gethsemane. Und er spricht zu seinen Jüngern: Bleibet hier sitzen, bis ich gebetet habe!
33And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy;
33Und er nahm den Petrus und Jakobus und Johannes mit sich und fing an zu erschrecken, und ihm graute sehr.
34And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.
34Und er sprach zu ihnen: Meine Seele ist zutode betrübt; bleibet hier und wachet!
35And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
35Und er ging ein wenig vorwärts, warf sich auf die Erde und betete, daß, wenn es möglich wäre, die Stunde an ihm vorüberginge.
36And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
36Und er sprach: Abba, Vater! Es ist dir alles möglich; nimm diesen Kelch von mir! Doch nicht, was ich will, sondern was du willst.
37And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?
37Und er kommt und findet sie schlafend und spricht zu Petrus: Simon, schläfst du? Vermagst du nicht eine Stunde zu wachen?
38Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
38Wachet und betet, damit ihr nicht in Versuchung fallet! Der Geist ist willig, aber das Fleisch ist schwach.
39And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
39Und er ging wiederum hin und betete und sprach dieselben Worte.
40And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
40Und als er zurückkam, fand er sie wiederum schlafend; denn die Augen waren ihnen schwer geworden, und sie wußten nicht, was sie ihm antworten sollten.
41And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
41Und er kommt zum drittenmal und spricht zu ihnen: Schlaft ihr noch immer und ruhet? Es ist genug! Die Stunde ist gekommen! Siehe, des Menschen Sohn wird in die Hände der Sünder überliefert.
42Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.
42Stehet auf, lasset uns gehen! Siehe, der mich verrät, ist nahe!
43And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
43Und alsbald, da er noch redete, erschien Judas, einer der Zwölf, und mit ihm eine große Schar mit Schwertern und Stöcken, von den Hohenpriestern und den Schriftgelehrten und den Ältesten.
44And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.
44Der Verräter aber hatte ihnen ein Zeichen gegeben und gesagt: Welchen ich küssen werde, der ist's, den ergreifet und führet ihn vorsichtig ab!
45And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.
45Und als er nun kam, trat er alsbald auf ihn zu und sprach: Rabbi, und küßte ihn.
46And they laid their hands on him, and took him.
46Sie aber legten Hand an ihn und griffen ihn.
47And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.
47Einer aber von denen, die dabei standen, zog das Schwert, schlug den Knecht des obersten Priesters und hieb ihm ein Ohr ab.
48And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me?
48Und Jesus hob an und sprach zu ihnen: Wie gegen einen Räuber seid ihr ausgezogen mit Schwertern und Stöcken, um mich zu fangen.
49I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.
49Täglich war ich bei euch im Tempel und lehrte, und ihr habt mich nicht gegriffen. Doch, damit die Schrift erfüllt würde!
50And they all forsook him, and fled.
50Da verließen ihn alle und flohen.
51And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
51Und ein Jüngling folgte ihm, der ein Leinengewand auf dem bloßen Leibe trug; und sie ergriffen ihn,
52And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.
52er aber ließ das Leinengewand fahren und entfloh nackt.
53And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.
53Und sie führten Jesus ab zum Hohenpriester; und alle Hohenpriester und die Ältesten und die Schriftgelehrten kamen dort zusammen.
54And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest: and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.
54Und Petrus folgte ihm von ferne bis hinein in den Hof des Hohenpriesters; und er saß bei den Dienern und wärmte sich am Feuer.
55And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none.
55Die Hohenpriester aber und der ganze Hohe Rat suchten Zeugnis wider Jesus, um ihn zum Tode zu bringen; und sie fanden keins.
56For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.
56Denn obgleich viele falsches Zeugnis wider ihn ablegten, so stimmten die Zeugnisse doch nicht überein.
57And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying,
57Und es standen etliche auf, legten falsches Zeugnis wider ihn ab und sprachen:
58We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands.
58Wir haben ihn sagen hören: Ich will diesen mit Händen gemachten Tempel zerstören und in drei Tagen einen andern aufbauen, der nicht mit Händen gemacht ist.
59But neither so did their witness agree together.
59Aber auch so war ihr Zeugnis nicht übereinstimmend.
60And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?
60Und der Hohepriester stand auf, trat in die Mitte, fragte Jesus und sprach: Antwortest du nichts auf das, was diese wider dich zeugen?
61But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?
61Er aber schwieg und antwortete nichts. Wiederum fragte ihn der Hohepriester und sprach zu ihm: Bist du der Christus, der Sohn des Hochgelobten?
62And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
62Jesus aber sprach: Ich bin's; und ihr werdet des Menschen Sohn sitzen sehen zur Rechten der Macht und kommen mit den Wolken des Himmels!
63Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?
63Da zerriß der Hohepriester seine Kleider und sagte: Was bedürfen wir weiter Zeugen?
64Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.
64Ihr habt die Lästerung gehört. Was dünkt euch? Sie urteilten alle, er sei des Todes schuldig.
65And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
65Und etliche fingen an, ihn zu verspeien und sein Angesicht zu verhüllen und ihn mit Fäusten zu schlagen und zu ihm zu sagen: Weissage! Und die Diener nahmen ihn mit Backenstreichen in Empfang.
66And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:
66Und während Petrus unten im Hofe war, kam eine von den Mägden des Hohenpriesters.
67And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.
67Und als sie Petrus sah, der sich wärmte, blickte sie ihn an und sprach: Auch du warst mit Jesus, dem Nazarener!
68But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
68Er aber leugnete und sprach: Ich weiß nicht und verstehe auch nicht, was du sagst! Und er ging in den Vorhof hinaus, und der Hahn krähte.
69And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.
69Und als die Magd ihn sah, hob sie wieder an und sprach zu den Umstehenden: Dieser ist einer von ihnen!
70And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.
70Er aber leugnete wiederum. Und ein wenig nachher sprachen die Umstehenden abermals zu Petrus: Wahrlich, du bist einer von ihnen! Denn du bist ein Galiläer, und deine Sprache ist gleich.
71But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.
71Er aber fing an zu fluchen und zu schwören: Ich kenne diesen Menschen nicht, von dem ihr redet!
72And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.
72Da krähte alsbald der Hahn zum zweitenmal; und Petrus ward eingedenk des Wortes, das Jesus zu ihm gesagt hatte: Ehe der Hahn zweimal kräht, wirst du mich dreimal verleugnen. Und er verhüllte sich und weinte.
