¹I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

³Als mich des Todes Bande umfingen, und Ängste der Unterwelt mich trafen und ich nur Not und Jammer fand,

⁴Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.

⁴da rief ich an den Namen des HERRN: «O HERR, errette meine Seele!»

⁵Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

⁵Der HERR ist gnädig und gerecht, und unser Gott ist voll Erbarmen.

⁶The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.

⁶Der HERR behütet die Einfältigen; ich war ganz elend, aber er half mir.

⁷Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

⁷Kehre wieder, meine Seele, zu deiner Ruhe; denn der HERR hat dir wohlgetan!

⁸For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

⁸Denn du hast meine Seele vom Tode errettet, mein Auge von den Tränen, meinen Fuß vom Fall.

⁹I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

⁹Ich werde wandeln vor dem HERRN im Lande der Lebendigen.

¹⁰I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

¹⁰Ich glaubte, was ich sagte; ich war sehr gebeugt.

¹¹I said in my haste, All men are liars.

¹¹Ich sprach in meinem Zagen: «Alle Menschen sind Lügner!»

¹²What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?

¹²Wie soll ich dem HERRN vergelten alle seine Wohltaten an mir?

¹³I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.

¹³Den Kelch des Heils will ich nehmen und den Namen des HERRN anrufen;

¹⁴I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

¹⁴meine Gelübde will ich dem HERRN bezahlen vor all seinem Volk.

¹⁵Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

¹⁵Teuer ist in den Augen des HERRN der Tod seiner Frommen.

¹⁶O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

¹⁶Wohlan HERR, weil ich dein Knecht bin, deiner Magd Sohn, und du meine Bande gelöst hast,

¹⁷I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.

¹⁷so will ich dir Dankopfer darbringen und den Namen des HERRN anrufen;

¹⁸I will pay my vows unto the LORD now in the presence of all his people.

¹⁸meine Gelübde will ich dem HERRN bezahlen vor all seinem Volk,

¹⁹In the courts of the LORD's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Praise ye the LORD.
