1In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

2In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
2(H76-3) in Salem ist sein Gezelt und seine Wohnung in Zion.
3There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
3(H76-4) Daselbst hat er die Blitze des Bogens zerbrochen, Schild, Schwert und Kriegsgerät. (Pause.)
4Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
4(H76-5) Glanzvoll bist du, Mächtiger, wegen der Berge von Beute die du gemacht !
5The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
5(H76-6) Die Tapfern mußten sich ausplündern lassen; sie sanken in Schlaf, und den Kriegsleuten versagten die Hände.
6At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
6(H76-7) Von deinem Schelten, o Gott Jakobs, wurden Roß und Reiter betäubt!
7Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
7(H76-8) Du bist zu fürchten, und wer kann vor deinem Angesicht bestehen, wenn dein Zorn entbrennt?
8Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
8(H76-9) Als du das Urteil vom Himmel erschallen ließest, da erschrak die Erde und hielt sich still,
9When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
9(H76-10) als sich Gott zum Gericht erhob, zu retten alle Elenden im Lande. (Pause.)
10Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
10(H76-11) Denn der Zorn des Menschen wird dir zum Lobpreis, daß du dich zuletzt mit Zornesflammen gürtest.
11Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
11(H76-12) Tut Gelübde und bezahlt sie dem HERRN, eurem Gott; von allen Seiten soll man dem Furchtbaren Geschenke bringen!
12He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
12(H76-13) Er beschneidet den Mut der Fürsten und ist furchtbar den Königen auf Erden.
