1The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
1[] Παροιμιαι Σολομωντος, υιου του Δαβιδ, βασιλεως του Ισραηλ,
2To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
2δια να γνωριση τις σοφιαν και παιδειαν, δια να νοηση λογους φρονησεως,
3To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
3δια να λαβη διδασκαλιαν συνεσεως, δικαιοσυνης και κρισεως και ευθυτητος,
4To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
4δια να δωση νοησιν εις τους απλους, και εις τον νεον μαθησιν και διαγνωσιν.
5A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
5Ο σοφος ακουων θελει γεινει σοφωτερος, και ο νοημων θελει αποκτησει επιστημην κυβερνησεως·
6To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
6ωστε να εννοη παροιμιαν και σκοτεινον λογον, ρησεις σοφων και αινιγματα αυτων.
7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
7[] Αρχη σοφιας φοβος Κυριου· οι αφρονες καταφρονουσι την σοφιαν και την διδασκαλιαν.
8My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
8Ακουε, υιε μου, την διδασκαλιαν του πατρος σου, και μη απορριψης τον νομον της μητρος σου.
9For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
9Διοτι ταυτα θελουσιν εισθαι στεφανος χαριτων εις την κορυφην σου και περιδεραιον περι τον τραχηλον σου.
10My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
10[] Υιε μου, εαν θελησωσιν οι αμαρτωλοι να σε δελεασωσι, μη θελησης·
11If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
11εαν ειπωσιν, Ελθε μεθ' ημων, ας ενεδρευσωμεν δι' αιμα, ας επιβουλευθωμεν αναιτιως τον αθωον,
12Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
12Ας καταπιωμεν αυτους ζωντας, ως ο αδης, και ολοκληρους ως τους καταβαινοντας εις τον λακκον·
13We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
13θελομεν ευρει παν πολυτιμον αγαθον, θελομεν γεμισει τους οικους ημων απο λαφυρων·
14Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
14θες τον κληρον σου μεταξυ ημων, εν βαλαντιον ας ηναι εις παντας ημας·
15My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
15υιε μου, μη περιπατησης εν οδω μετ' αυτων· απεχε τον ποδα σου απο των τριβων αυτων·
16For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
16διοτι οι ποδες αυτων τρεχουσιν εις το κακον, και σπευδουσιν εις το να χυσωσιν αιμα.
17Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
17Διοτι ματαιως εξαπλονεται δικτυον εμπροσθεν των οφθαλμων παντος πτερωτου.
18And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.
18Διοτι ουτοι ενεδρευουσι κατα του ιδιου αυτων αιματος, επιβουλευονται τας εαυτων ψυχας·
19So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
19Τοιαυται ειναι αι οδοι παντος πλεονεκτου· η πλεονεξια αφαιρει την ζωην των κυριευομενων υπ' αυτης.
20Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
20[] Η σοφια φωναζει εξω, εκπεμπει την φωνην αυτης εν ταις πλατειαις·
21She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
21Κραζει επι κεφαλης των αγορων, εν ταις εισοδοις των πυλων· απαγγελλει τους λογους αυτης δια της πολεως, λεγουσα,
22How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
22Εως ποτε, μωροι, θελετε αγαπα την μωριαν, και οι χλευασται θελουσιν ηδυνεσθαι εις τους χλευασμους αυτων, και οι αφρονες θελουσι μισει την γνωσιν;
23Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
23Επιστρεψατε προς τους ελεγχους μου· ιδου, εγω θελω εκχεει το πνευμα μου εφ' υμας, θελω σας καμει να νοησητε τους λογους μου.
24Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
24Επειδη εγω εκραζον, και σεις δεν υπηκουετε· εξετεινον την χειρα μου, και ουδεις προσειχεν·
25But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
25Αλλα κατεφρονειτε πασας τας συμβουλας μου και τους ελεγχους μου δεν εδεχεσθε·
26I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
26δια τουτο και εγω θελω επιγελασει εις τον ολεθρον σας· θελω καταχαρη, οταν επελθη ο φοβος σας.
27When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
27Οταν ο φοβος σας επελθη ως ερημωσις και η καταστροφη σας εφορμηση ως ανεμοστροβιλος, οταν η θλιψις και η στενοχωρια ελθωσιν εφ' υμας·
28Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
28τοτε θελουσι με επικαλεσθη, αλλα δεν θελω αποκριθη· επιμονως θελουσι με εκζητησει, αλλα δεν θελουσι με ευρει.
29For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
29Διοτι εμισησαν την γνωσιν και τον φοβον του Κυριου δεν εξελεξαν·
30They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
30δεν ηθελησαν τας συμβουλας μου· κατεφρονησαν παντας τους ελεγχους μου·
31Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
31δια τουτο θελουσι φαγει απο των καρπων της οδου αυτων και θελουσι χορτασθη απο των κακοβουλιων αυτων.
32For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
32Διοτι η αποστασια των μωρων θελει θανατωσει αυτους, και η αμεριμνησια των αφρονων θελει αφανισει αυτους.
33But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
33Οστις ομως ακουει εμου, θελει κατοικησει εν ασφαλεια· και θελει ησυχαζει, μη φοβουμενος κακον.
