1Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
1わたしがキリストにならう者であるように、あなたがたもわたしにならう者になりなさい。
2Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
2あなたがたが、何かにつけわたしを覚えていて、あなたがたに伝えたとおりに言伝えを守っているので、わたしは満足に思う。
3But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
3しかし、あなたがたに知っていてもらいたい。すべての男のかしらはキリストであり、女のかしらは男であり、キリストのかしらは神である。
4Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
4祈をしたり預言をしたりする時、かしらに物をかぶる男は、そのかしらをはずかしめる者である。
5But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
5祈をしたり預言をしたりする時、かしらにおおいをかけない女は、そのかしらをはずかしめる者である。それは、髪をそったのとまったく同じだからである。
6For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
6もし女がおおいをかけないなら、髪を切ってしまうがよい。髪を切ったりそったりするのが、女にとって恥ずべきことであるなら、おおいをかけるべきである。
7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
7男は、神のかたちであり栄光であるから、かしらに物をかぶるべきではない。女は、また男の光栄である。
8For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
8なぜなら、男が女から出たのではなく、女が男から出たのだからである。
9Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
9また、男は女のために造られたのではなく、女が男のために造られたのである。
10For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
10それだから、女は、かしらに権威のしるしをかぶるべきである。それは天使たちのためでもある。
11Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
11ただ、主にあっては、男なしには女はないし、女なしには男はない。
12For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.
12それは、女が男から出たように、男もまた女から生れたからである。そして、すべてのものは神から出たのである。
13Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
13あなたがた自身で判断してみるがよい。女がおおいをかけずに神に祈るのは、ふさわしいことだろうか。
14Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
14自然そのものが教えているではないか。男に長い髪があれば彼の恥になり、
15But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
15女に長い髪があれば彼女の光栄になるのである。長い髪はおおいの代りに女に与えられているものだからである。
16But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
16しかし、だれかがそれに反対の意見を持っていても、そんな風習はわたしたちにはなく、神の諸教会にもない。
17Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
17ところで、次のことを命じるについては、あなたがたをほめるわけにはいかない。というのは、あなたがたの集まりが利益にならないで、かえって損失になっているからである。
18For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
18まず、あなたがたが教会に集まる時、お互の間に分争があることを、わたしは耳にしており、そしていくぶんか、それを信じている。
19For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
19たしかに、あなたがたの中でほんとうの者が明らかにされるためには、分派もなければなるまい。
20When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
20そこで、あなたがたが一緒に集まるとき、主の晩餐を守ることができないでいる。
21For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
21というのは、食事の際、各自が自分の晩餐をかってに先に食べるので、飢えている人があるかと思えば、酔っている人がある始末である。
22What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
22あなたがたには、飲み食いをする家がないのか。それとも、神の教会を軽んじ、貧しい人々をはずかしめるのか。わたしはあなたがたに対して、なんと言おうか。あなたがたを、ほめようか。この事では、ほめるわけにはいかない。
23For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
23わたしは、主から受けたことを、また、あなたがたに伝えたのである。すなわち、主イエスは、渡される夜、パンをとり、
24And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
24感謝してこれをさき、そして言われた、「これはあなたがたのための、わたしのからだである。わたしを記念するため、このように行いなさい」。
25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
25食事ののち、杯をも同じようにして言われた、「この杯は、わたしの血による新しい契約である。飲むたびに、わたしの記念として、このように行いなさい」。
26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
26だから、あなたがたは、このパンを食し、この杯を飲むごとに、それによって、主がこられる時に至るまで、主の死を告げ知らせるのである。
27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
27だから、ふさわしくないままでパンを食し主の杯を飲む者は、主のからだと血とを犯すのである。
28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
28だれでもまず自分を吟味し、それからパンを食べ杯を飲むべきである。
29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
29主のからだをわきまえないで飲み食いする者は、その飲み食いによって自分にさばきを招くからである。
30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
30あなたがたの中に、弱い者や病人が大ぜいおり、また眠った者も少なくないのは、そのためである。
31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
31しかし、自分をよくわきまえておくならば、わたしたちはさばかれることはないであろう。
32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
32しかし、さばかれるとすれば、それは、この世と共に罪に定められないために、主の懲らしめを受けることなのである。
33Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
33それだから、兄弟たちよ。食事のために集まる時には、互に待ち合わせなさい。もし空腹であったら、さばきを受けに集まることにならないため、家で食べるがよい。そのほかの事は、わたしが行った時に、定めることにしよう。
34And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
