1Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
1兄弟たちよ。わたしが以前あなたがたに伝えた福音、あなたがたが受けいれ、それによって立ってきたあの福音を、思い起してもらいたい。
2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
2もしあなたがたが、いたずらに信じないで、わたしの宣べ伝えたとおりの言葉を固く守っておれば、この福音によって救われるのである。
3For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
3わたしが最も大事なこととしてあなたがたに伝えたのは、わたし自身も受けたことであった。すなわちキリストが、聖書に書いてあるとおり、わたしたちの罪のために死んだこと、
4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
4そして葬られたこと、聖書に書いてあるとおり、三日目によみがえったこと、
5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:
5ケパに現れ、次に、十二人に現れたことである。
6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
6そののち、五百人以上の兄弟たちに、同時に現れた。その中にはすでに眠った者たちもいるが、大多数はいまなお生存している。
7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.
7そののち、ヤコブに現れ、次に、すべての使徒たちに現れ、
8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.
8そして最後に、いわば、月足らずに生れたようなわたしにも、現れたのである。
9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
9実際わたしは、神の教会を迫害したのであるから、使徒たちの中でいちばん小さい者であって、使徒と呼ばれる値うちのない者である。
10But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.
10しかし、神の恵みによって、わたしは今日あるを得ているのである。そして、わたしに賜わった神の恵みはむだにならず、むしろ、わたしは彼らの中のだれよりも多く働いてきた。しかしそれは、わたし自身ではなく、わたしと共にあった神の恵みである。
11Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.
11とにかく、わたしにせよ彼らにせよ、そのように、わたしたちは宣べ伝えており、そのように、あなたがたは信じたのである。
12Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?
12さて、キリストは死人の中からよみがえったのだと宣べ伝えられているのに、あなたがたの中のある者が、死人の復活などはないと言っているのは、どうしたことか。
13But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
13もし死人の復活がないならば、キリストもよみがえらなかったであろう。
14And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.
14もしキリストがよみがえらなかったとしたら、わたしたちの宣教はむなしく、あなたがたの信仰もまたむなしい。
15Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not.
15すると、わたしたちは神にそむく偽証人にさえなるわけだ。なぜなら、万一死人がよみがえらないとしたら、わたしたちは神が実際よみがえらせなかったはずのキリストを、よみがえらせたと言って、神に反するあかしを立てたことになるからである。
16For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
16もし死人がよみがえらないなら、キリストもよみがえらなかったであろう。
17And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
17もしキリストがよみがえらなかったとすれば、あなたがたの信仰は空虚なものとなり、あなたがたは、いまなお罪の中にいることになろう。
18Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
18そうだとすると、キリストにあって眠った者たちは、滅んでしまったのである。
19If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
19もしわたしたちが、この世の生活でキリストにあって単なる望みをいだいているだけだとすれば、わたしたちは、すべての人の中で最もあわれむべき存在となる。
20But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
20しかし事実、キリストは眠っている者の初穂として、死人の中からよみがえったのである。
21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
21それは、死がひとりの人によってきたのだから、死人の復活もまた、ひとりの人によってこなければならない。
22For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
22アダムにあってすべての人が死んでいるのと同じように、キリストにあってすべての人が生かされるのである。
23But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming.
23ただ、各自はそれぞれの順序に従わねばならない。最初はキリスト、次に、主の来臨に際してキリストに属する者たち、
24Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
24それから終末となって、その時に、キリストはすべての君たち、すべての権威と権力とを打ち滅ぼして、国を父なる神に渡されるのである。
25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
25なぜなら、キリストはあらゆる敵をその足もとに置く時までは、支配を続けることになっているからである。
26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
26最後の敵として滅ぼされるのが、死である。
27For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
27「神は万物を彼の足もとに従わせた」からである。ところが、万物を従わせたと言われる時、万物を従わせたかたがそれに含まれていないことは、明らかである。
28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
28そして、万物が神に従う時には、御子自身もまた、万物を従わせたそのかたに従うであろう。それは、神がすべての者にあって、すべてとなられるためである。
29Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
29そうでないとすれば、死者のためにバプテスマを受ける人々は、なぜそれをするのだろうか。もし死者が全くよみがえらないとすれば、なぜ人々が死者のためにバプテスマを受けるのか。
30And why stand we in jeopardy every hour?
30また、なんのために、わたしたちはいつも危険を冒しているのか。
31I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.
31兄弟たちよ。わたしたちの主キリスト・イエスにあって、わたしがあなたがたにつき持っている誇にかけて言うが、わたしは日々死んでいるのである。
32If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and drink; for to morrow we die.
32もし、わたしが人間の考えによってエペソで獣と戦ったとすれば、それはなんの役に立つのか。もし死人がよみがえらないのなら、「わたしたちは飲み食いしようではないか。あすもわからぬいのちなのだ」。
33Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.
33まちがってはいけない。「悪い交わりは、良いならわしをそこなう」。
34Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
34目ざめて身を正し、罪を犯さないようにしなさい。あなたがたのうちには、神について無知な人々がいる。あなたがたをはずかしめるために、わたしはこう言うのだ。
35But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
35しかし、ある人は言うだろう。「どんなふうにして、死人がよみがえるのか。どんなからだをして来るのか」。
36Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
36おろかな人である。あなたのまくものは、死ななければ、生かされないではないか。
37And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
37また、あなたのまくのは、やがて成るべきからだをまくのではない。麦であっても、ほかの種であっても、ただの種粒にすぎない。
38But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
38ところが、神はみこころのままに、これにからだを与え、その一つ一つの種にそれぞれのからだをお与えになる。
39All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
39すべての肉が、同じ肉なのではない。人の肉があり、獣の肉があり、鳥の肉があり、魚の肉がある。
40There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.
40天に属するからだもあれば、地に属するからだもある。天に属するものの栄光は、地に属するものの栄光と違っている。
41There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.
41日の栄光があり、月の栄光があり、星の栄光がある。また、この星とあの星との間に、栄光の差がある。
42So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
42死人の復活も、また同様である。朽ちるものでまかれ、朽ちないものによみがえり、
43It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:
43卑しいものでまかれ、栄光あるものによみがえり、弱いものでまかれ、強いものによみがえり、
44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
44肉のからだでまかれ、霊のからだによみがえるのである。肉のからだがあるのだから、霊のからだもあるわけである。
45And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
45聖書に「最初の人アダムは生きたものとなった」と書いてあるとおりである。しかし最後のアダムは命を与える霊となった。
46Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
46最初にあったのは、霊のものではなく肉のものであって、その後に霊のものが来るのである。
47The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.
47第一の人は地から出て土に属し、第二の人は天から来る。
48As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
48この土に属する人に、土に属している人々は等しく、この天に属する人に、天に属している人々は等しいのである。
49And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
49すなわち、わたしたちは、土に属している形をとっているのと同様に、また天に属している形をとるであろう。
50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
50兄弟たちよ。わたしはこの事を言っておく。肉と血とは神の国を継ぐことができないし、朽ちるものは朽ちないものを継ぐことがない。
51Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
51ここで、あなたがたに奥義を告げよう。わたしたちすべては、眠り続けるのではない。終りのラッパの響きと共に、またたく間に、一瞬にして変えられる。
52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
52というのは、ラッパが響いて、死人は朽ちない者によみがえらされ、わたしたちは変えられるのである。
53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
53なぜなら、この朽ちるものは必ず朽ちないものを着、この死ぬものは必ず死なないものを着ることになるからである。
54So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
54この朽ちるものが朽ちないものを着、この死ぬものが死なないものを着るとき、聖書に書いてある言葉が成就するのである。
55O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
55「死は勝利にのまれてしまった。死よ、おまえの勝利は、どこにあるのか。死よ、おまえのとげは、どこにあるのか」。
56The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
56死のとげは罪である。罪の力は律法である。
57But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
57しかし感謝すべきことには、神はわたしたちの主イエス・キリストによって、わたしたちに勝利を賜わったのである。だから、愛する兄弟たちよ。堅く立って動かされず、いつも全力を注いで主のわざに励みなさい。主にあっては、あなたがたの労苦がむだになることはないと、あなたがたは知っているからである。
58Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
58だから、愛する兄弟たちよ。堅く立って動かされず、いつも全力を注いで主のわざに励みなさい。主にあっては、あなたがたの労苦がむだになることはないと、あなたがたは知っているからである。
