¹And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

¹兄弟たちよ。わたしはあなたがたには、霊の人に対するように話すことができず、むしろ、肉に属する者、すなわち、キリストにある幼な子に話すように話した。

²I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

²あなたがたに乳を飲ませて、堅い食物は与えなかった。食べる力が、まだあなたがたになかったからである。今になってもその力がない。

³For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?

³あなたがたはまだ、肉の人だからである。あなたがたの間に、ねたみや争いがあるのは、あなたがたが肉の人であって、普通の人間のように歩いているためではないか。

⁴For while one saith, I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal?

⁴すなわち、ある人は「わたしはパウロに」と言い、ほかの人は「わたしはアポロに」と言っているようでは、あなたがたは普通の人間ではないか。

⁵Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

⁵アポロは、いったい、何者か。また、パウロは何者か。あなたがたを信仰に導いた人にすぎない。しかもそれぞれ、主から与えられた分に応じて仕えているのである。

⁶I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

⁶わたしは植え、アポロは水をそそいだ。しかし成長させて下さるのは、神である。

⁷So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

⁷だから、植える者も水をそそぐ者も、ともに取るに足りない。大事なのは、成長させて下さる神のみである。

⁸Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.

⁸植える者と水をそそぐ者とは一つであって、それぞれその働きに応じて報酬を得るであろう。

⁹For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

⁹わたしたちは神の同労者である。あなたがたは神の畑であり、神の建物である。

¹⁰According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

¹⁰神から賜わった恵みによって、わたしは熟練した建築師のように、土台をすえた。そして他の人がその上に家を建てるのである。しかし、どういうふうに建てるか、それぞれ気をつけるがよい。

¹¹For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

¹¹なぜなら、すでにすえられている土台以外のものをすえることは、だれにもできない。そして、この土台はイエス・キリストである。

¹²Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;

¹²この土台の上に、だれかが金、銀、宝石、木、草、または、わらを用いて建てるならば、

¹³Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.

¹³それぞれの仕事は、はっきりとわかってくる。すなわち、かの日は火の中に現れて、それを明らかにし、またその火は、それぞれの仕事がどんなものであるかを、ためすであろう。

¹⁴If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.

¹⁴もしある人の建てた仕事がそのまま残れば、その人は報酬を受けるが、

¹⁵If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

¹⁵その仕事が焼けてしまえば、損失を被るであろう。しかし彼自身は、火の中をくぐってきた者のようにではあるが、救われるであろう。

¹⁶Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

¹⁶あなたがたは神の宮であって、神の御霊が自分のうちに宿っていることを知らないのか。

¹⁷If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

¹⁷もし人が、神の宮を破壊するなら、神はその人を滅ぼすであろう。なぜなら、神の宮は聖なるものであり、そして、あなたがたはその宮なのだからである。

¹⁸Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

¹⁸だれも自分を欺いてはならない。もしあなたがたのうちに、自分がこの世の知者だと思う人がいるなら、その人は知者になるために愚かになるがよい。

¹⁹For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

¹⁹なぜなら、この世の知恵は、神の前では愚かなものだからである。「神は、知者たちをその悪知恵によって捕える」と書いてあり、

²⁰And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

²⁰更にまた、「主は、知者たちの論議のむなしいことをご存じである」と書いてある。

²¹Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are your's;

²¹だから、だれも人間を誇ってはいけない。すべては、あなたがたのものなのである。

²²Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are your's;

²²パウロも、アポロも、ケパも、世界も、生も、死も、現在のものも、将来のものも、ことごとく、あなたがたのものである。そして、あなたがたはキリストのもの、キリストは神のものである。

²³And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

²³そして、あなたがたはキリストのもの、キリストは神のものである。
