¹Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?

¹あなたがたの中のひとりが、仲間の者と何か争いを起した場合、それを聖徒に訴えないで、正しくない者に訴え出るようなことをするのか。

²Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

²それとも、聖徒は世をさばくものであることを、あなたがたは知らないのか。そして、世があなたがたによってさばかれるべきであるのに、きわめて小さい事件でもさばく力がないのか。

³Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?

³あなたがたは知らないのか、わたしたちは御使をさえさばく者である。ましてこの世の事件などは、いうまでもないではないか。

⁴If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.

⁴それだのに、この世の事件が起ると、教会で軽んじられている人たちを、裁判の席につかせるのか。

⁵I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

⁵わたしがこう言うのは、あなたがたをはずかしめるためである。いったい、あなたがたの中には、兄弟の間の争いを仲裁することができるほどの知者は、ひとりもいないのか。

⁶But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

⁶しかるに、兄弟が兄弟を訴え、しかもそれを不信者の前に持ち出すのか。

⁷Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

⁷そもそも、互に訴え合うこと自体が、すでにあなたがたの敗北なのだ。なぜ、むしろ不義を受けないのか。なぜ、むしろだまされていないのか。

⁸Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

⁸しかるに、あなたがたは不義を働き、だまし取り、しかも兄弟に対してそうしているのである。

⁹Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

⁹それとも、正しくない者が神の国をつぐことはないのを、知らないのか。まちがってはいけない。不品行な者、偶像を礼拝する者、姦淫をする者、男娼となる者、男色をする者、盗む者、

¹⁰Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

¹⁰貪欲な者、酒に酔う者、そしる者、略奪する者は、いずれも神の国をつぐことはないのである。

¹¹And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

¹¹あなたがたの中には、以前はそんな人もいた。しかし、あなたがたは、主イエス・キリストの名によって、またわたしたちの神の霊によって、洗われ、きよめられ、義とされたのである。

¹²All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

¹²すべてのことは、わたしに許されている。しかし、すべてのことが益になるわけではない。すべてのことは、わたしに許されている。しかし、わたしは何ものにも支配されることはない。

¹³Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

¹⁴And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

¹⁵Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.

¹⁵あなたがたは自分のからだがキリストの肢体であることを、知らないのか。それだのに、キリストの肢体を取って遊女の肢体としてよいのか。断じていけない。

¹⁶What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

¹⁶それとも、遊女につく者はそれと一つのからだになることを、知らないのか。「ふたりの者は一体となるべきである」とあるからである。

¹⁷But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

¹⁷しかし主につく者は、主と一つの霊になるのである。

¹⁸Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.

¹⁸不品行を避けなさい。人の犯すすべての罪は、からだの外にある。しかし不品行をする者は、自分のからだに対して罪を犯すのである。

¹⁹What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

¹⁹あなたがたは知らないのか。自分のからだは、神から受けて自分の内に宿っている聖霊の宮であって、あなたがたは、もはや自分自身のものではないのである。あなたがたは、代価を払って買いとられたのだ。それだから、自分のからだをもって、神の栄光をあらわしなさい。

²⁰For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
