¹Rejoice not, O Israel, for joy, as other people: for thou hast gone a whoring from thy God, thou hast loved a reward upon every cornfloor.

¹イスラエルよ、もろもろの民のように喜びおどるな。あなたは淫行をなして、あなたの神を離れ、すべての穀物の打ち場で受ける淫行の価を愛した。

²The floor and the winepress shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.

²打ち場と酒ぶねとは彼らを養わない。また新しい酒もむなしくなる。

³They shall not dwell in the LORD's land; but Ephraim shall return to Egypt, and they shall eat unclean things in Assyria.

³彼らは主の地に住むことなく、エフライムはエジプトに帰り、アッスリヤで汚れた物を食べる。

⁴They shall not offer wine offerings to the LORD, neither shall they be pleasing unto him: their sacrifices shall be unto them as the bread of mourners; all that eat thereof shall be polluted: for their bread for their soul shall not come into the house of the LORD.

⁴彼らは主に向かって酒を注がず、また犠牲をもって主を喜ばせず、彼らのパンは喪におる者のパンのようで、すべてこれを食べる者は汚される。彼らのパンはただ自分の飢えを満たすためで、主の家に、はいることはできない。

⁵What will ye do in the solemn day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?

⁵あなたがたは祝の日と、主の祭の日に、何をしようとするのか。

⁶For, lo, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them: the pleasant places for their silver, nettles shall possess them: thorns shall be in their tabernacles.

⁶見よ、彼らはアッスリヤへ行く。エジプトは彼らを集め、メンピスは彼らを葬る。あざみは彼らの銀の宝物を所有し、いばらは彼らの天幕にはびこる。

⁷The days of visitation are come, the days of recompence are come; Israel shall know it: the prophet is a fool, the spiritual man is mad, for the multitude of thine iniquity, and the great hatred.

⁷刑罰の日は来た。報いの日は来た。イスラエルはこれを知る。預言者は愚かな者、霊に感じた人は狂った者だ。これはあなたがたの不義が多く、恨みが大きいためである。

⁸The watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.

⁸預言者はわが神の民エフライムの見張人である。しかし預言者のすべての道には鳥をとる者のわながあり、恨みはその神の家にある。

⁹They have deeply corrupted themselves, as in the days of Gibeah: therefore he will remember their iniquity, he will visit their sins.

⁹彼らはギベアの日のように、深くおのれを腐らせた。主はその不義を覚え、その罪を罰せられる。

¹⁰I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstripe in the fig tree at her first time: but they went to Baalpeor, and separated themselves unto that shame; and their abominations were according as they loved.

¹⁰わたしはイスラエルを荒野のぶどうのように見、あなたがたの先祖たちを、いちじくの木の初めに結んだ初なりのように見た。ところが彼らはバアル・ペオルへ行き、身をバアルにゆだね、彼らが愛した物と同じように憎むべき者となった。

¹¹As for Ephraim, their glory shall fly away like a bird, from the birth, and from the womb, and from the conception.

¹¹エフライムの栄光は、鳥のようにとび去る。すなわち産むことも、はらむことも、みごもることもなくなる。

¹²Though they bring up their children, yet will I bereave them, that there shall not be a man left: yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!

¹²たとい彼らが子を育てても、わたしはその子を奪って、残る者のないようにする。わたしが彼らを離れるとき、彼らはわざわいだ。

¹³Ephraim, as I saw Tyrus, is planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer.

¹³わたしが見たように、エフライムの子らはえじきに定められた。エフライムはその子らを、人を殺す者に渡さなければならない。

¹⁴Give them, O LORD: what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.

¹⁴主よ、彼らに与えてください。あなたは何を与えられますか。流産の胎と、かわいた乳ぶさを彼らに与えてください。

¹⁵All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

¹⁵彼らのすべての悪はギルガルにある。わたしはかしこで彼らを憎んだ。彼らのおこないの悪しきがゆえに、彼らをわが家から追いだし、重ねて愛することをしない。その君たちはみな、反逆者である。

¹⁶Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.

¹⁶エフライムは撃たれ、その根は枯れて、実を結ばない。たとい彼らが子を産んでも、わたしはそのいつくしむ子らを殺す。彼らは聞き従わないので、わが神はこれを捨てられる。彼らはもろもろの国民のうちに、さすらい人となる。

¹⁷My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
