¹Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

¹さて、イエスは御霊によって荒野に導かれた。悪魔に試みられるためである。

²And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

²そして、四十日四十夜、断食をし、そののち空腹になられた。

³And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

³すると試みる者がきて言った、「もしあなたが神の子であるなら、これらの石がパンになるように命じてごらんなさい」。

⁴But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁴イエスは答えて言われた、「『人はパンだけで生きるものではなく、神の口から出る一つ一つの言で生きるものである』と書いてある」。

⁵Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

⁵それから悪魔は、イエスを聖なる都に連れて行き、宮の頂上に立たせて

⁶And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁶言った、「もしあなたが神の子であるなら、下へ飛びおりてごらんなさい。『神はあなたのために御使たちにお命じになると、あなたの足が石に打ちつけられないように、彼らはあなたを手でささえるであろう』と書いてありますから」。

⁷Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

⁷イエスは彼に言われた、「『主なるあなたの神を試みてはならない』とまた書いてある」。

⁸Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

⁸次に悪魔は、イエスを非常に高い山に連れて行き、この世のすべての国々とその栄華とを見せて

⁹And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

⁹言った、「もしあなたが、ひれ伏してわたしを拝むなら、これらのものを皆あなたにあげましょう」。

¹⁰Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

¹⁰するとイエスは彼に言われた、「サタンよ、退け。『主なるあなたの神を拝し、ただ神にのみ仕えよ』と書いてある」。

¹¹Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

¹¹そこで、悪魔はイエスを離れ去り、そして、御使たちがみもとにきて仕えた。

¹²Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

¹²さて、イエスはヨハネが捕えられたと聞いて、ガリラヤへ退かれた。

¹³And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

¹³そしてナザレを去り、ゼブルンとナフタリとの地方にある海べの町カペナウムに行って住まわれた。

¹⁴That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

¹⁴これは預言者イザヤによって言われた言が、成就するためである。

¹⁵The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

¹⁵「ゼブルンの地、ナフタリの地、海に沿う地方、ヨルダンの向こうの地、異邦人のガリラヤ、

¹⁶The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

¹⁶暗黒の中に住んでいる民は大いなる光を見、死の地、死の陰に住んでいる人々に、光がのぼった」。

¹⁷From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹⁷この時からイエスは教を宣べはじめて言われた、「悔い改めよ、天国は近づいた」。

¹⁸And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

¹⁸さて、イエスがガリラヤの海べを歩いておられると、ふたりの兄弟、すなわち、ペテロと呼ばれたシモンとその兄弟アンデレとが、海に網を打っているのをごらんになった。彼らは漁師であった。

¹⁹And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

¹⁹イエスは彼らに言われた、「わたしについてきなさい。あなたがたを、人間をとる漁師にしてあげよう」。

²⁰And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

²⁰すると、彼らはすぐに網を捨てて、イエスに従った。

²¹And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

²¹そこから進んで行かれると、ほかのふたりの兄弟、すなわち、ゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネとが、父ゼベダイと一緒に、舟の中で網を繕っているのをごらんになった。そこで彼らをお招きになると、

²²And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

²²すぐ舟と父とをおいて、イエスに従って行った。

²³And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

²³イエスはガリラヤの全地を巡り歩いて、諸会堂で教え、御国の福音を宣べ伝え、民の中のあらゆる病気、あらゆるわずらいをおいやしになった。

²⁴And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

²⁴そこで、その評判はシリヤ全地にひろまり、人々があらゆる病にかかっている者、すなわち、いろいろの病気と苦しみとに悩んでいる者、悪霊につかれている者、てんかん、中風の者などをイエスのところに連れてきたので、これらの人々をおいやしになった。こうして、ガリラヤ、デカポリス、エルサレム、ユダヤ及びヨルダンの向こうから、おびただしい群衆がきてイエスに従った。

²⁵And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.

²⁵こうして、ガリラヤ、デカポリス、エルサレム、ユダヤ及びヨルダンの向こうから、おびただしい群衆がきてイエスに従った。
