¹O LORD, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

²Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

²みどりごと、ちのみごとの口によって、ほめたたえられています。あなたは敵と恨みを晴らす者とを静めるため、あだに備えて、とりでを設けられました。

³When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

³わたしは、あなたの指のわざなる天を見、あなたが設けられた月と星とを見て思います。

⁴What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

⁴人は何者なので、これをみ心にとめられるのですか、人の子は何者なので、これを顧みられるのですか。

⁵For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

⁵ただ少しく人を神よりも低く造って、栄えと誉とをこうむらせ、

⁶Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

⁶これにみ手のわざを治めさせ、よろずの物をその足の下におかれました。

⁷All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

⁷すべての羊と牛、また野の獣、

⁸The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

⁸空の鳥と海の魚、海路を通うものまでも。主、われらの主よ、あなたの名は地にあまねく、いかに尊いことでしょう。
