¹We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

¹わたしたち強い者は、強くない者たちの弱さをになうべきであって、自分だけを喜ばせることをしてはならない。

²Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.

²わたしたちひとりびとりは、隣り人の徳を高めるために、その益を図って彼らを喜ばすべきである。

³For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

³キリストさえ、ご自身を喜ばせることはなさらなかった。むしろ「あなたをそしる者のそしりが、わたしに降りかかった」と書いてあるとおりであった。

⁴For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

⁴これまでに書かれた事がらは、すべてわたしたちの教のために書かれたのであって、それは聖書の与える忍耐と慰めとによって、望みをいだかせるためである。

⁵Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:

⁵どうか、忍耐と慰めとの神が、あなたがたに、キリスト・イエスにならって互に同じ思いをいだかせ、

⁶That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

⁶こうして、心を一つにし、声を合わせて、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストの父なる神をあがめさせて下さるように。

⁷Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

⁷こういうわけで、キリストもわたしたちを受けいれて下さったように、あなたがたも互に受けいれて、神の栄光をあらわすべきである。

⁸Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

⁸わたしは言う、キリストは神の真実を明らかにするために、割礼のある者の僕となられた。それは父祖たちの受けた約束を保証すると共に、

⁹And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name.

⁹異邦人もあわれみを受けて神をあがめるようになるためである、「それゆえ、わたしは、異邦人の中であなたにさんびをささげ、また、御名をほめ歌う」と書いてあるとおりである。

¹⁰And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

¹⁰また、こう言っている、「異邦人よ、主の民と共に喜べ」。

¹¹And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud him, all ye people.

¹¹また、「すべての異邦人よ、主をほめまつれ。もろもろの民よ、主をほめたたえよ」。

¹²And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

¹²またイザヤは言っている、「エッサイの根から芽が出て、異邦人を治めるために立ち上がる者が来る。異邦人は彼に望みをおくであろう」。

¹³Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

¹³どうか、望みの神が、信仰から来るあらゆる喜びと平安とを、あなたがたに満たし、聖霊の力によって、あなたがたを、望みにあふれさせて下さるように。

¹⁴And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.

¹⁴さて、わたしの兄弟たちよ。あなたがた自身が、善意にあふれ、あらゆる知恵に満たされ、そして互に訓戒し合う力のあることを、わたしは堅く信じている。

¹⁵Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,

¹⁵しかし、わたしはあなたがたの記憶を新たにするために、ところどころ、かなり思いきって書いた。それは、神からわたしに賜わった恵みによって、書いたのである。

¹⁶That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

¹⁶このように恵みを受けたのは、わたしが異邦人のためにキリスト・イエスに仕える者となり、神の福音のために祭司の役を勤め、こうして異邦人を、聖霊によってきよめられた、御旨にかなうささげ物とするためである。

¹⁷I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God.

¹⁷だから、わたしは神への奉仕については、キリスト・イエスにあって誇りうるのである。

¹⁸For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,

¹⁸わたしは、異邦人を従順にするために、キリストがわたしを用いて、言葉とわざ、

¹⁹Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.

¹⁹しるしと不思議との力、聖霊の力によって、働かせて下さったことの外には、あえて何も語ろうとは思わない。こうして、わたしはエルサレムから始まり、巡りめぐってイルリコに至るまで、キリストの福音を満たしてきた。

²⁰Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

²⁰その際、わたしの切に望んだところは、他人の土台の上に建てることをしないで、キリストの御名がまだ唱えられていない所に福音を宣べ伝えることであった。

²¹But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

²¹すなわち、「彼のことを宣べ伝えられていなかった人々が見、聞いていなかった人々が悟るであろう」と書いてあるとおりである。

²²For which cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.

²²こういうわけで、わたしはあなたがたの所に行くことを、たびたび妨げられてきた。

²³But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;

²³しかし今では、この地方にはもはや働く余地がなく、かつイスパニヤに赴く場合、あなたがたの所に行くことを、多年、熱望していたので、――

²⁴Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.

²⁴その途中あなたがたに会い、まず幾分でもわたしの願いがあなたがたによって満たされたら、あなたがたに送られてそこへ行くことを、望んでいるのである。

²⁵But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.

²⁵しかし今の場合、聖徒たちに仕えるために、わたしはエルサレムに行こうとしている。

²⁶For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.

²⁶なぜなら、マケドニヤとアカヤとの人々は、エルサレムにおる聖徒の中の貧しい人々を援助することに賛成したからである。

²⁷It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.

²⁷たしかに、彼らは賛成した。しかし同時に、彼らはかの人々に負債がある。というのは、もし異邦人が彼らの霊の物にあずかったとすれば、肉の物をもって彼らに仕えるのは、当然だからである。

²⁸When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.

²⁸そこでわたしは、この仕事を済ませて彼らにこの実を手渡した後、あなたがたの所をとおって、イスパニヤに行こうと思う。

²⁹And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

²⁹そしてあなたがたの所に行く時には、キリストの満ちあふれる祝福をもって行くことと、信じている。

³⁰Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

³⁰兄弟たちよ。わたしたちの主イエス・キリストにより、かつ御霊の愛によって、あなたがたにお願いする。どうか、共に力をつくして、わたしのために神に祈ってほしい。

³¹That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

³¹すなわち、わたしがユダヤにおる不信の徒から救われ、そしてエルサレムに対するわたしの奉仕が聖徒たちに受けいれられるものとなるように、

³²That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

³²また、神の御旨により、喜びをもってあなたがたの所に行き、共になぐさめ合うことができるように祈ってもらいたい。どうか、平和の神があなたがた一同と共にいますように、アァメン。

³³Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
