¹Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

¹信仰の弱い者を受けいれなさい。ただ、意見を批評するためであってはならない。

²For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

²ある人は、何を食べてもさしつかえないと信じているが、弱い人は野菜だけを食べる。

³Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

³食べる者は食べない者を軽んじてはならず、食べない者も食べる者をさばいてはならない。神は彼を受けいれて下さったのであるから。

⁴Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

⁴他人の僕をさばくあなたは、いったい、何者であるか。彼が立つのも倒れるのも、その主人によるのである。しかし、彼は立つようになる。主は彼を立たせることができるからである。

⁵One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

⁵また、ある人は、この日がかの日よりも大事であると考え、ほかの人はどの日も同じだと考える。各自はそれぞれ心の中で、確信を持っておるべきである。

⁶He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

⁶日を重んじる者は、主のために重んじる。また食べる者も主のために食べる。神に感謝して食べるからである。食べない者も主のために食べない。そして、神に感謝する。

⁷For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

⁷すなわち、わたしたちのうち、だれひとり自分のために生きる者はなく、だれひとり自分のために死ぬ者はない。

⁸For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

⁸わたしたちは、生きるのも主のために生き、死ぬのも主のために死ぬ。だから、生きるにしても死ぬにしても、わたしたちは主のものなのである。

⁹For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

⁹なぜなら、キリストは、死者と生者との主となるために、死んで生き返られたからである。

¹⁰But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

¹⁰それだのに、あなたは、なぜ兄弟をさばくのか。あなたは、なぜ兄弟を軽んじるのか。わたしたちはみな、神のさばきの座の前に立つのである。

¹¹For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

¹¹すなわち、「主が言われる。わたしは生きている。すべてのひざは、わたしに対してかがみ、すべての舌は、神にさんびをささげるであろう」と書いてある。

¹²So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

¹²だから、わたしたちひとりびとりは、神に対して自分の言いひらきをすべきである。

¹³Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

¹³それゆえ、今後わたしたちは、互にさばき合うことをやめよう。むしろ、あなたがたは、妨げとなる物や、つまずきとなる物を兄弟の前に置かないことに、決めるがよい。

¹⁴I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

¹⁴わたしは、主イエスにあって知りかつ確信している。それ自体、汚れているものは一つもない。ただ、それが汚れていると考える人にだけ、汚れているのである。

¹⁵But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

¹⁵もし食物のゆえに兄弟を苦しめるなら、あなたは、もはや愛によって歩いているのではない。あなたの食物によって、兄弟を滅ぼしてはならない。キリストは彼のためにも、死なれたのである。

¹⁶Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

¹⁶それだから、あなたがたにとって良い事が、そしりの種にならぬようにしなさい。

¹⁷For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

¹⁷神の国は飲食ではなく、義と、平和と、聖霊における喜びとである。

¹⁸For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

¹⁸こうしてキリストに仕える者は、神に喜ばれ、かつ、人にも受けいれられるのである。

¹⁹Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

¹⁹こういうわけで、平和に役立つことや、互の徳を高めることを、追い求めようではないか。

²⁰For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

²⁰食物のことで、神のみわざを破壊してはならない。すべての物はきよい。ただ、それを食べて人をつまずかせる者には、悪となる。

²¹It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

²¹肉を食わず、酒を飲まず、そのほか兄弟をつまずかせないのは、良いことである。

²²Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

²²あなたの持っている信仰を、神のみまえに、自分自身に持っていなさい。自ら良いと定めたことについて、やましいと思わない人は、さいわいである。しかし、疑いながら食べる者は、信仰によらないから、罪に定められる。すべて信仰によらないことは、罪である。

²³And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
