²I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.

²Ut cherabihak li oc cue chixyebal. Nacuaj nak tênau li sachba chßôlej ut li milagro li quixcßutbesi chicuu li Kâcuaß li nimajcual Dios.

³How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

⁴I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house, and flourishing in my palace:

⁵I saw a dream which made me afraid, and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.

⁵Saß jun li kßojyîn quinmatqßuec. Nak qui-aj cuu, cßajoß nak quinxucuac ut incßaß chic quincuar xcßoxlanquil li quicßutbesîc chicuu saß lin matcß.

⁶Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.

⁶Joßcan nak xintakla xbokbaleb chixjunileb laj qßuehol naßleb li cuanqueb Babilonia re nak teßxye cue cßaßru naxye lin matcß.

⁷Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.

⁷Ut queßcßameß chak cuiqßuin chixjunileb laj kße, ut eb laj tûl, joßqueb ajcuiß laj qßuehol naßleb ut eb li nequeßtzoloc chirix li chahim. Ut lâin xinye reheb cßaßru lin matcß. Abanan incßaß queßru xyebal cue cßaßru naxye lin matcß.

⁸But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my God, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,

⁸Tojoßnak quintakla xbokbal laj Daniel. Laj Beltsasar nayeman re joß xcßabaß lin dios. Lâin ninnau nak aßan qßuebil xnaßleb xbaneb lix dios santo. Xinserakßi lin matcß re.

⁹O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.

⁹Ut quinye re: —Lâat laj cßamol be saß xyânkeb laj kße. At Beltsasar, lâin ninnau nak qßuebil ânaßleb xbaneb lâ dios santo. Ninnau nak mâcßaß mukmu châcuu. Ye cue cßaßru naxye lin matcß.

¹⁰Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed; I saw, and behold a tree in the midst of the earth, and the height thereof was great.

¹⁰Aßan aßin li quicuil saß lin matcß. Nak yôquin chi cuârc quicuil jun li cheß kßaxal najt rok saß xyi li ruchichßochß.

¹¹The tree grew, and was strong, and the height thereof reached unto heaven, and the sight thereof to the end of all the earth:

¹¹Quiniman li cheß toj retal quicuulac saß choxa ut qui-ileß yalak bar saß ruchichßochß xbaneb li tenamit.

¹²The leaves thereof were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all: the beasts of the field had shadow under it, and the fowls of the heaven dwelt in the boughs thereof, and all flesh was fed of it.

¹²Cßajoß xchßinaßusal lix xak ut kßaxal nabal li ru. Tzßakal re teßtzacânk chixjunileb li cuanqueb saß ruchichßochß. Eb li xul saß qßuicheß queßhilan saß lix mu ut eb li cocß xul li nequeßrupupic queßxyîb lix soc saß eb li rukß. Ut chixjunileb queßxtzaca li ru.

¹³I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;

¹³Ut quicuil ajcuiß saß lin matcß nak yô chak chi cubec saß choxa jun lix santil ángel li Kâcuaß xcomoneb li ángel li nequeßcßacßalen.

¹⁴He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches:

¹⁴Ut chi cau xyâb xcux li ángel quixye, “Yocß li cheß aßan. Yocß ajcuiß li rukß ut isi lix xak ut tzßek li ru. Yolesiheb li xul li cuanqueb rubel joßqueb ajcuiß li cuanqueb saß eb li rukß.

¹⁵Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth:

¹⁵Abanan tâcanab lix tônal ut lix xeß saß li chßochß ut tâbacß riqßuin cadena yîbanbil riqßuin chßichß hierro ut bronce. Ut tâcuânk saß li pim rochbeneb li xul ut li xchußque tâtßakresînk re. Ut pim tixtzaca rochbeneb li xul.

¹⁶Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.

¹⁶Li cheß aßan retalil jun li cuînk. Chiru cuukub chihab li cuînk aßin incßaß chic tâcßoxlak joß junak cuînk. Chanchanak chic xnaßleb li xul lix naßleb.

¹⁷This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

¹⁷Aßan aßin li tenebanbil saß xbên xbaneb li santil ángel li nequeßcßacßalen, re nak chixjunileb teßxqßue retal nak li nimajcual Dios nim xcuanquil saß xbêneb li nequeßtaklan saß ruchichßochß. Aßan naqßuehoc xcuanquileb li ani naraj aßan, ut naxqßueheb xcuanquil li mâcßaßeb xcuanquil.” Joßcan quixye cue li ángel.

¹⁸This dream I king Nebuchadnezzar have seen. Now thou, O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.

¹⁹Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.

²⁰The tree that thou sawest, which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth;

²⁰Li cheß li cacuil saß lâ matcß quiniman ut cau rib ut quicuulac xteram toj saß choxa, ut quicßutun yalak bar saß ruchichßochß.

²¹Whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beasts of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation:

²¹Cßajoß xchßinaßusal lix xak. Ut nabal li ru. Tzßakal re teßtzacânk chixjunileb li cuanqueb saß ruchichßochß. Li xul saß qßuicheß nequeßhilan rubel li cheß ut eb li xul li nequeßrupupic queßxyîb lix soc saß eb li rukß.

²²It is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth.

²²At rey, li cheß li cacuil li kßaxal najt xteram ut cau rib, aßan lâat. Quinumta lâ cuanquil. Chanchan nak xcuulac toj saß choxa. Ut cuan âcuanquil saß xbêneb chixjunileb li cuanqueb saß ruchichßochß.

²³And whereas the king saw a watcher and an holy one coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him;

²³Nak yôcat chirilbal li cheß, at rey, jun lix ángel li Kâcuaß xcomoneb li ángel li nequeßcßacßalen quicube chak saß choxa ut quixye, “Yocß li cheß ut tâsach. Abanan tâcanab saß li chßochß lix tônal ut lix xeß ut tâbacß riqßuin cadena yîbanbil riqßuin hierro ut bronce ut tâcanâk saß pim. Ut tâtßakresîk xban li xchußque ut chiru cuukub chihab tixtzaca li pim rochbeneb li xul”, chan li ángel.

²⁴This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the most High, which is come upon my lord the king:

²⁴At rey, aßan aßin li naxye lâ matcß. At rey, aßin li tenebanbil saß âbên xban li nimajcual Dios.

²⁵That they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

²⁵Lâat tatyolesîk saß lâ naßaj. Tat-isîk saß xyânkeb li tenamit. Saß pim tatcuânk saß xyânkeb li xul. Ut pim tâcuaß joß li bôyx ut tattßakresîk xban li xchußque. Cuukub chihab tatcuânk saß pim. Riqßuin aßin tâqßue retal nak li nimajcual Dios, aßan li kßaxal nim xcuanquil saß xbêneb li cuanqueb xcuanquil saß ruchichßochß ut aßan yal re li ani naraj xqßuebal xcuanquil.

²⁶And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the heavens do rule.

²⁶Li ángel xye nak lix tônal li cheß tâcanâk saß chßochß. Aßan retalil nak lâ cuanquilal incßaß tâsachk chi junaj cua. Tat-oc cuißchic chokß rey toj tâqßue retal nak li Kâcuaß, aßan li kßaxal nim xcuanquil saß xbên chixjunil.

²⁷Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by shewing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

²⁸All this came upon the king Nebuchadnezzar.

²⁸Ut chixjunil aßin quixcßul li rey Nabucodonosor.

²⁹At the end of twelve months he walked in the palace of the kingdom of Babylon.

²⁹Ac xnumeß chic jun chihab nak li rey yô chak chi bêc saß lix nimal palacio aran Babilonia.

³⁰The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?

³⁰Quixye li rey: —¿Ma mâcuaß ta biß aßin lix nimal ru tenamit Babilonia li quinyîb? ¿Ma mâcuaß ta biß saß incßabaß lâin nak xniman li tenamit xban nak cuan incuanquil lâin? Aßan nacßutuc re lin cuanquil ut lin lokßal, chan.

³¹While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from heaven, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to thee it is spoken; The kingdom is departed from thee.

³¹Toj yô ajcuiß chixyebal li âtin aßin nak quirabi jun xyâb cux quichal saß choxa ut quixye: —At rey Nabucodonosor, ac isinbil chic lâ cuanquil, chan.

³²And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

³²—Tat-isîk saß xyânkeb li tenamit ut saß pim chic tatcuânk saß xyânkeb li xul. Cuukub chihab tâcuaß li pim joßqueb li bôyx. Tatcuânk saß pim toj tâqßue retal nak li nimajcual Dios, aßan li kßaxal nim xcuanquil saß xbêneb li cuanqueb xcuanquil saß ruchichßochß. Ut aßan naxqßue xcuanquil li ani naraj xqßuebal xcuanquil, chan li ángel.

³³The same hour was the thing fulfilled upon Nebuchadnezzar: and he was driven from men, and did eat grass as oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till his hairs were grown like eagles' feathers, and his nails like birds' claws.

³³Ut saß ajcuiß li hônal aßan quicßulman joß quiyeheß re laj Nabucodonosor. Quilôcoß ru ut qui-isîc saß xyânkeb li tenamit. Quixcuaß li pim joßqueb li bôyx ut quitßakresîc xban li xchußque. Quichamoß li rismal chanchan rix li cßuch ut quinînkan li rixißij, chanchan li rixißijeb li xul li nequeßrupupic. Chanchan chic xnaßleb li xul lix naßleb.

³⁴And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honoured him that liveth for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation:

³⁵And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?

³⁵Chixjunileb li cuanqueb saß ruchichßochß mâcßaßeb xcuanquil chiru aßan. Li Kâcuaß kßaxal nim xcuanquil saß xbêneb li cuanqueb saß choxa joß ajcuiß saß ruchichßochß. Naxbânu li cßaßru naraj aßan ut mâ ani naru naâtinac chirix.

³⁶At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.

Ut quinqßueheß cuißchic chi taklânc saß xbêneb li tenamit ut kßaxal nim cuißchic lin cuanquil quiqßueheß cue chiru junxil.Ut anakcuan lâin li rey Nabucodonosor ninlokßoni li tzßakal Rey li cuan saß choxa. Ninnima ru ut ninqßue xlokßal xban nak naxbânu chixjunil saß xyâlal ut saß tîquilal. Ut naxcubsi xcuanquil li ani naxnimobresi rib xjunes, chan laj Nabucodonosor.

³⁷Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
