Daniel

5

1Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.
1Li rey Belsasar quixcßub jun li ninkße re cuaßac ut quixbokeb jun mil chi cuînk li nequeßcßanjelac chiru. Ut qui-oc chi ucßac vino li rey chiruheb li jun mil chi cuînk cuanqueb aran.
2Belshazzar, whiles he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, might drink therein.
2Ut xban xcalajic, li rey Belsasar quixtakla risinquil li secß oro ut plata, li quixcßam chak laj Nabucodonosor lix yucuaß saß li templo aran Jerusalén. Quixtakla xcßambal chak li secß oro ut li secß plata re teßucßak cuiß li rey, joßqueb ajcuiß li nequeßcßanjelac chiru, joß eb ajcuiß li rixakil ut eb lix concubina.
3Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king, and his princes, his wives, and his concubines, drank in them.
3Joßcan nak quicßameß chak li secß oro li queßcuan saß lix templo li Dios li quicuan Jerusalén. Ut queßoc chi ucßac li rey joß eb ajcuiß li nequeßcßanjelac chiru, joßqueb ajcuiß li rixakil ut eb lix concubina.
4They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.
4Queßucßac vino ut queßxlokßoniheb li dios yîbanbil riqßuin oro, plata, bronce, chßîchß, cheß ut pec.
5In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
5Ut saß ajcuiß li hônal aßan quicßutun aran li rußuj rukß jun li cuînk yô chi tzßîbac chiru li tzßac nachß cuan cuiß li candil li cuan saß li cab. Ut li rey yô chirilbal li ukßej nak yô chi tzßîbac chiru tzßac.
6Then the king's countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.
6Ut quisakquirinoß li rilobâl li rey xban xxiu ut qui-oc xcßaßux ut nasicsot xban xxiu toj retal nequeßxtochß rib li xbên rak.
7The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. And the king spake, and said to the wise men of Babylon, Whosoever shall read this writing, and shew me the interpretation thereof, shall be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about his neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.
7Li rey quixjap re chi cau ut quixye nak teßcßamekß chak riqßuin chixjunileb laj qßuehol naßleb ut eb laj Caldea ut eb laj kße. Ut li rey quixye reheb: —Li ani târûk xtaubal ru li âtin aßin ut tixye cue cßaßru lix yâlal, lâin tinqßue li caki akß chirix retalil lix cuanquil. Tinqßue lix kßol oro chi xcux ut aßanak li rox chi taklânc saß xbên li tenamit, chan.
8Then came in all the king's wise men: but they could not read the writing, nor make known to the king the interpretation thereof.
8Ut queßchal chixjunileb laj qßuehol naßleb saß rochoch li rey. Abanan mâ jun quitaßoc ru li tzßîbanbil chiru li tzßac ut incßaß queßru xyebal re li rey cßaßru lix yâlal.
9Then was king Belshazzar greatly troubled, and his countenance was changed in him, and his lords were astonied.
9Ut kßaxal cuißchic quisakquirinoß li rilobâl li rey Belsasar ut qui-oc chi cßoxlac xban xxiu. Ut queßoc ajcuiß chi cßoxlac li nequeßcßanjelac chiru.
10Now the queen by reason of the words of the king and his lords came into the banquet house: and the queen spake and said, O king, live for ever: let not thy thoughts trouble thee, nor let thy countenance be changed:
10Ut li rixakil li rey quirabi nak yô chixjapbal re li rey joß eb ajcuiß li nequeßcßanjelac chiru. Joßcan nak qui-oc aran cuan cuiß li rey ut quixye re: —At rey, chicuânk taxak lâ yußam chi junelic. Matxucuac chi moco tatsakquirinokß xban âxiu.
11There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers;
11Rubel lâ cuanquil cuan jun li cuînk qßuebil xnaßleb xbaneb lix dios santo. Nak toj cuânk lâ yucuaß chokß rey quixqßue retal nak aßan cuan xnaßleb ut naxtau ru li incßaß natauman ru. Lix naßleb aßan chanchan lix naßlebeb li dios. Ut lâ yucuaß quixqßue xcuanquil saß xbêneb chixjunileb laj qßuehol naßleb ut eb laj kße ut eb laj Caldea joßqueb ajcuiß li nequeßtzoloc chirix li chahim.
12Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.
12Li cuînk aßan cuan xnaßleb ut naxnau xyebal cßaßru xyâlal li matcß ut naxnau xsicßbal xyâlal li jaljôquil ru âtin ut naxtau ru li chßaßaj xtaubal ru. Aßan laj Daniel. Beltsasar quiqßueheß chokß xcßabaß xban li rey Nabucodonosor. Takla xbokbal laj Daniel re nak aßan tâyehok âcue cßaßru naxye li tzßîbanbil chiru li tzßac, chan.
13Then was Daniel brought in before the king. And the king spake and said unto Daniel, Art thou that Daniel, which art of the children of the captivity of Judah, whom the king my father brought out of Jewry?
13Joßcan nak laj Daniel quicßameß riqßuin li rey, ut li rey quixye re: —¿Ma lâat laj Daniel li ralal xcßajoleb laj Judá li queßcßameß chak arin xban inyucuaß laj Nabucodonosor? chan.
14I have even heard of thee, that the spirit of the gods is in thee, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee.
14—Lâin xcuabi resil nak qßuebil ânaßleb xbaneb lâ dios. Xcuabi resil nak cutan saken châcuu li cßaßak re ru ut cuan ânaßleb chixtaubal ru li cßaßru chßaßaj xtaubal ru.
15And now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing, and make known unto me the interpretation thereof: but they could not shew the interpretation of the thing:
15Eb laj kße ut eb laj qßuehol naßleb queßcßameß chak cuiqßuin re nak teßril li tzßîbanbil chiru li tzßac ut re teßxye raj cue cßaßru naxye. Abanan incßaß queßru.
16And I have heard of thee, that thou canst make interpretations, and dissolve doubts: now if thou canst read the writing, and make known to me the interpretation thereof, thou shalt be clothed with scarlet, and have a chain of gold about thy neck, and shalt be the third ruler in the kingdom.
16Cuabiom resil nak naru tâchßolob xyâlal li cßaßru chßaßaj xtaubal ru. Anakcuan cui târûk tâcuil li tzßîbanbil chiru li tzßac ut tâye cue cßaßru naxye, tattikibâk riqßuin caki akßej ut tâqßuemânk junak kßol oro châcux ut lâatak li rox chi taklânc saß xbên li tenamit aßin, chan.
17Then Daniel answered and said before the king, Let thy gifts be to thyself, and give thy rewards to another; yet I will read the writing unto the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
17Laj Daniel quixye re li rey: —Li mâtan tâcuaj xsihinquil, canâk chokß âcue. Ut lin kßajcâmunquil tâcuaj xqßuebal, chaqßue re jalan chic. At rey, lâin tincuil li cßaßru tzßîbanbil chiru li tzßac ut tinye âcue li cßaßru naraj naxye.
18O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honour:
18At rey, li nimajcual Dios quixqßue chi cuânc chokß rey laj Nabucodonosor lâ yucuaß ut quixqßue xnimal xcuanquil ut xnimal xlokßal ut qui-oxlokßîc xbaneb li tenamit.
19And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.
19Ut xban lix nimal xcuanquil li quiqßueheß re, chixjunileb li cuanqueb saß ruchichßochß aß yal bar xtenamiteb ut aß yal cßaßru râtinobâleb, nequeßsicsot xbaneb xxiu chiru. Quixcamsi li ani quiraj xcamsinquil ut quixcol li ani quiraj xcolbal. Quixqßue xcuanquil li ani quiraj xqßuebal xcuanquil ut quixcubsi xcuanquil li ani quiraj xcubsinquil xcuanquil.
20But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him:
20Abanan qui-isîc saß xcuanquil xban nak quixkßetkßeti rib ut quixcacuubresi lix chßôl. Xban lix kßetkßetil kßaxal cuißchic quixnimobresi rib. Joßcan nak qui-isîc saß xcuanquil ut qui-isîc ajcuiß lix lokßal.
21And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.
21Qui-isîc saß xyânkeb li tenamit ut lix naßleb chanchan chic xnaßleb li xul. Quicuan saß pim saß xyânkeb li bûr re li qßuicheß, ut quixcuaß li pim joßqueb li bôyx. Quitßakresîc xban li xchußque toj quixqßue retal nak li nimajcual Dios aßan li kßaxal nim xcuanquil saß xbêneb chixjunileb li cuanqueb xcuanquil xban nak aßan naxqßue xcuanquil li ani naraj.
22And thou his son, O Belshazzar, hast not humbled thine heart, though thou knewest all this;
22Ut lâat at Belsasar, lâat li ralal. Ac nacanau chixjunil li quixcßul lâ yucuaß abanan lâat incßaß xacubsi âcuib.
23But hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified:
23Xakßetkßeti ban âcuib chiru li Kâcuaß cuan saß choxa. Xatakla xcßambal li secß li quicßanjelac saß lix templo li Dios ut xerocsi saß lê ninkße. Lâat xat-ucßac vino chi saß chiruheb li nequeßcßanjelac châcuu, joßqueb ajcuiß lâ cuixakil ut eb lâ concubina. Ut xalokßoni ajcuiß li jalanil dios yîbanbil riqßuin plata, oro, bronce, hierro, cheß ut pec. Xaqßueheb xlokßal li yîbanbil dios li mâcßaßeb xnaßleb, li incßaß nequeßiloc chi moco nequeßabin. Ut incßaß xaqßue xlokßal li tzßakal Dios. Aßan li naqßuehoc lâ yußam ut aßan li yal re saß âbên.
24Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written.
24Li Dios quitaklan chak re li ukßej aßan li xacuil li quitzßîbac chiru li tzßac.
25And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN.
25Ut li tzßîbanbil chiru li tzßac joßcaßin naxye: Mene, mene, tekel, uparsin.
26This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
26Li xyâlal aßan, joßcaßin na-el: Mene: Li Dios xrajla joß najtil tatcuânk chokß rey ut anakcuan xrakeß lâ cuanquil.
27TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
27Tekel: Xatxbis riqßuin lix bisleb ut nacßutun nak incßaß us lâ naßleb.
28PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
28Peres malaj ut Uparsin: Li nînki tenamit nacattaklan cuiß ac xjacheß saß xyi ut ac xqßueman reheb laj Medo ut reheb laj Persia, chan laj Daniel.
29Then commanded Belshazzar, and they clothed Daniel with scarlet, and put a chain of gold about his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
29Tojoßnak li rey Belsasar quixtakla xtikibanquil laj Daniel riqßuin li caki akß ut quixqßue ajcuiß xkßol oro. Ut quixtakla resil nak laj Daniel, aßan chic li roxil chi taklânc.
30In that night was Belshazzar the king of the Chaldeans slain.
30Ut saß ajcuiß li kßojyîn aßan, quicamsîc laj Belsasar lix reyeb laj Caldea.Ut laj Darío aj Medo, aßan chic qui-oc saß xcuanquil. Cuib xcâcßâl chihab cuan re nak qui-oc chokß rey.
31And Darius the Median took the kingdom, being about threescore and two years old.
31Ut laj Darío aj Medo, aßan chic qui-oc saß xcuanquil. Cuib xcâcßâl chihab cuan re nak qui-oc chokß rey.
