Ecclesiastes

1

1The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem.
1Aßan aßin râtin jun li cuînk naxnau âtinac chi us. Li cuînk aßan, aßan li ralal laj David, li quicuan chokß rey aran Jerusalén.
2Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
2Aßin li quixye chirix li cßaßru cuan saß ruchichßochß: Chixjunil li cßaßak re ru cuan saß ruchichßochß, mâcßaß na-oc cuiß. Chixjunil li cßaßru nakacßoxla xbânunquil, mâcßaß rajbal.
3What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?
3¿Cßaßru tixra li cuînk nak tixcamsi rib chi trabajic rajlal cutan?
4One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
4Cuan li toj yôqueb chi yoßlâc ut cuan yôqueb chi câmc. Abanan li ruchichßochß incßaß najala.
5The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
5Rajlal ekßela na-el li sakße ut rajlal ecuu na-oc cuißchic re nak naru tâêlk cuißchic cuulaj. Junelic joßcan naxbânu.
6The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
6Joßcan ajcuiß li ikß. Nanumeß saß li sur ut nanumeß ajcuiß saß li norte. Li bar ac xnumeß cuiß, nanumeß cuißchic. Ut joßcan rajlal naxbânu.
7All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
7Ut eb li nimaß nequeßbêc rok ut nequeßxic saß li palau. Abanan li palau incßaß nanujac xbaneb. Li bar nequeßnumeß cuiß rajlal, aran cuißchic nequeßnumeß li haß.
8All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
8Nocolub riqßuin chixjunil li cßaßak re ru aßin, ut mâ ani nequeßru xyebal chanru nak nequeßtitzß xban. Usta nabal nequeßrabi ut usta nabal nequeßril, abanan incßaß nequeßcßojla xchßôleb.
9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
9¿Ma cuan ta biß cßaßak re ru toj acß saß ruchichßochß anakcuan? Mâcßaß. Chixjunil li cßaßru cuan anakcuan, ac cuan ajcuiß chak junxil. Mâcßaß cßaßru toj xyîbaman anakcuan xban nak ac yîbanbil chak junxil.
10Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
10¿Ma cuan ta biß junak naru tixye, “Aßin toj acß?” Incßaß naru naxye chi joßcan xban nak chixjunil li cßaßru cuan anakcuan, ac cuan ajcuiß chak junxil chiku lâo.
11There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.
11Chixjunil li cßaßak re ru ac xnumeß, ac xsach saß xchßôleb. Joßcan ajcuiß chixjunil li cßaßru talajchâlk mokon, tâsachk ajcuiß saß xchßôleb.
12I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
12Lâin li ninnau âtinac chi châbil. Lâin quincuan chokß xreyeb laj Israel aran Jerusalén.
13And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
13Xban nak cuan innaßleb lâin, quinqßue inchßôl chixtzolbal ut chixsiqßuinquil xyâlal chixjunil li cßaßru nacßulman saß ruchichßochß. Kßaxal cau li îk quixqßue li Dios saß xbêneb li cuînk re teßxbânu.
14I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
14Riqßuin aßin quinqßue retal nak chixjunil li na-uxman saß ruchichßochß, mâcßaß na-oc cuiß. Junes rahil chßôlej naxqßue.
15That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
15Chanchan junak li cßaßru yocos rix incßaß naru xtîcobresinquil rix. Malaj ut joß junak li cßaßak re ru incßaß tzßakal re ru incßaß naru xqßuebal saß ajl.
16I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
16Lâin quinye saß inchßôl nak kßaxal nim incuanquil ut kßaxal cuan innaßleb chiruheb li queßcuan chokß rey aran Jerusalén xbên cua chicuu lâin. Ut quinqßue inchßôl chixtaubal nabal chic innaßleb.
17And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
17Quinkßaxtesi cuib chixtaubal nabal chic li naßleb li châbil. Ut quinqßue ajcuiß inchßôl chixtaubal li naßleb li incßaß us li mâcßaß na-oc cuiß. Abanan quinqßue retal nak chixjunil aßan mâcßaß na-oc cuiß. Junes rahil chßôlej naxqßue.Li ani naxsicß nabal lix naßleb nacuan nabal lix chßaßajquilal, xban nak li ani cuan nabal xnaßleb, nabal ajcuiß li raylal naxcßul.
18For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
18Li ani naxsicß nabal lix naßleb nacuan nabal lix chßaßajquilal, xban nak li ani cuan nabal xnaßleb, nabal ajcuiß li raylal naxcßul.
