Ecclesiastes

8

1Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? a man's wisdom maketh his face to shine, and the boldness of his face shall be changed.
1Mâ ani târûk tixjuntakßêta rib riqßuin li cuan xnaßleb. Li ani cuan xnaßleb naxnau cßaßut nak nacßulman li cßaßak re ru saß ruchichßochß. Lix naßleb naxqßue chi sahocß lix chßôl ut najala li rilobâl xban nak sa chic saß xchßôl.
2I counsel thee to keep the king's commandment, and that in regard of the oath of God.
2Chebânuhak li cßaßru tixye êre li rey joß queye nak quebânu li juramento chiru li Dios.
3Be not hasty to go out of his sight: stand not in an evil thing; for he doeth whatsoever pleaseth him.
3Nak tex-êlk chiru li rey, bânuhomak saß xyâlal. Incßaß tex-êlk saß junpât. Ut mex-oquen saß xyânkeb li nequeßxbânu li incßaß us xban nak aßan naru naxbânu êre li cßaßru naraj.
4Where the word of a king is, there is power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
4Li râtin li rey, aßan cuan xcuanquil. Ut mâ ani naru tâyehok re nak incßaß us naxbânu.
5Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.
5Li ani naxbânu li nataklâc cuiß xban li rey, mâcßaß tixcßul. Ut li ani cuan xnaßleb naxnau jokße ut chanru nak tixbânu li nataklâc cuiß.
6Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.
6Cuan jun li hônal re xbânunquil chixjunil li cßaßak re ru ut cuan ajcuiß li naßleb re xcßoxlanquil chanru xbânunquil. Abanan cuan jun li chßaßajquilal saß xbên li junjûnk,
7For he knoweth not that which shall be: for who can tell him when it shall be?
7xban nak mâ ani naxnau cßaßru tixcßul, chi moco cuan ta junak naru tixye cßaßru tâcßulmânk mokon.
8There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
8Mâ ani junak nacuan xcuanquil saß xbên lix musikß li junjûnk. Moco târûk ta tixye nak toj tâcuânk lix yußam xban nak mâcuaß aßan yal re saß xbên lix yußam. Chi moco cuan junak cuan xcuanquil saß xbên li câmc xban nak mâ ani naru nacoleß chiru li câmc. Li incßaß us xnaßleb incßaß tâcolekß xban li mâusilal naxbânu.
9All this have I seen, and applied my heart unto every work that is done under the sun: there is a time wherein one man ruleth over another to his own hurt.
9Chixjunil aßin quinqßue retal nak quin-oc chixtzßilbal rix li cßaßru nacßulman saß ruchichßochß. Quinqßue retal nak cuanqueb li cuînk cuanqueb xcuanquil saß xbêneb li ras rîtzßin ut nequeßxbânu raylal reheb.
10And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.
10Ut ninqßue ajcuiß retal nak eb li incßaß useb xnaßleb nequeßqßueheß xlokßal nak nequeßmukeß. Abanan li nequeßxic rajlal saß li templo, mâ ani nacßoxlan re li tîquilal li queßxbânu saß li tenamit. Chixjunil aßin mâcßaß na-oc cuiß.
11Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
11Ut xban nak incßaß nequeßxcßul chi ticto xtojbal rix li mâusilal li nequeßxbânu, joßcan nak kßaxal cuißchic nequeßraj xbânunquil li mâusilal li jun chßol chic.
12Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him:
12Usta nanumta li mâusilal li nequeßxbânu laj mâc ut usta najt rok lix yußameb arin saß ruchichßochß, lâin ninnau nak eb li nequeßxucuan ru li Dios us teßxcßul chiruheb aßan.
13But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.
13Ac chßolchßo nak eb li nequeßxbânu li mâusilal incßaß us teßxcßul xban nak yal nequeßxnumsi lix yußameb chi mâcßaß rajbal. Incßaß nequeßxqßue xlokßal li Dios ut incßaß nequeßxxucua ru.
14There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
14Cuan jun chic li naßleb na-uxman saß ruchichßochß incßaß nintau ru. Aßan nak eb li châbileb xnaßleb nequeßxcßul raylal. Ut li raylal nequeßxcßul eb aßan, reheb raj li incßaß useb xnaßleb. Ut eb li incßaß useb xnaßleb, usilal nequeßxcßul. Ut li usilal li nequeßxcßul, aßan reheb raj li châbileb xnaßleb. Lâin ninye nak aßin mâcßaß na-oc cuiß.
15Then I commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall abide with him of his labour the days of his life, which God giveth him under the sun.
15Joßcan nak lâin ninye nak li cuînk tixsicß li sahil chßôlej arin saß ruchichßochß. Tâcuaßak tâucßak ut tâsahokß saß xchßôl xban nak caßaj cuiß aßan naru tixbânu re nak tixyal xsahil li cßanjel li naxbânu nak toj cuan lix yußam saß ruchichßochß li naqßueheß re xban li Dios.
16When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)
16Nak quinkßaxtesi cuib chixtzolbal ut chixtzßilbal rix li cßaßak re ru nacßulman saß ruchichßochß, chi kßek chi cutan incßaß nachal incuara.Ut quinqßue retal nak mâ ani nataßoc ru li cßaßru naxbânu li Dios. Li cuînk mâ jokße tixtau ru li cßaßru naxbânu li Dios saß ruchichßochß, usta tixtacuasi rib chixsicßbal. Li cuan xnaßleb naru naxye nak naxnau, abanan mâ jokße tixtau ru.
17Then I beheld all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun: because though a man labour to seek it out, yet he shall not find it; yea farther; though a wise man think to know it, yet shall he not be able to find it.
17Ut quinqßue retal nak mâ ani nataßoc ru li cßaßru naxbânu li Dios. Li cuînk mâ jokße tixtau ru li cßaßru naxbânu li Dios saß ruchichßochß, usta tixtacuasi rib chixsicßbal. Li cuan xnaßleb naru naxye nak naxnau, abanan mâ jokße tixtau ru.
