1Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
1Mīļie, neticiet katram garam, bet pārbaudiet garus, vai tie ir no Dieva, jo daudzi viltus pravieši izgājuši pasaulē.
2Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
2Dieva garu pazīstiet no tā: katrs gars, kas apliecina, ka Jēzus Kristus ir atnācis miesā, ir no Dieva.
3And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
3Katrs gars, kas noliedz Jēzu, nav no Dieva; tas ir antikrists, par kuru dzirdējāt, ka viņš nāk un tagad jau ir pasaulē.
4Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
4Bērniņi, jūs to uzvarējāt, jūs esat no Dieva, jo Tas, kas jūsos, ir lielāks nekā tas, kas pasaulē.
5They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
5Tie ir no pasaules, tāpēc viņi runā par pasauli, un pasaule klausās viņos.
6We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
6Mēs esam no Dieva. Kas pazīst Dievu, tas mūs uzklausa; kas nav no Dieva, tas mūs neklausa. No tā pazīstam patiesības Garu un maldu garu.
7Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
7Mīļie, mīlēsim viens otru, jo mīlestība ir no Dieva! Katrs, kas mīl, dzimis no Dieva un pazīst Dievu.
8He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
8Kas nemīl, tas nav Dievu pazinis, jo Dievs ir mīlestība.
9In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
9Tanī atklājas Dieva mīlestība mūsos, ka Dievs atsūtīja savu vienpiedzimušo Dēlu pasaulē, lai mēs dzīvotu caur Viņu.
10Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
10Tanī pastāv mīlestība, ka nevis mēs esam mīlējuši Dievu, bet gan Viņš mūs pirmāk mīlēja un sūtīja savu Dēlu gandarīšanai par mūsu grēkiem.
11Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
11Mīļie, ja Dievs mūs tā mīlējis, tad arī mums vajag vienam otru mīlēt!
12No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
12Dievu neviens nekad nav redzējis. Ja mēs mīlam viens otru, tad Dievs paliek mūsos un Viņa mīlestība mūsos ir pilnīga.
13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
13No tā mēs pazīstam, ka mēs paliekam Viņā un Viņš mūsos, ka Viņš mums devis no sava Gara.
14And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
14Arī mēs redzējām un apliecinām, ka Tēvs ir sūtījis savu Dēlu, pasaules Pestītāju.
15Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
15Kas apliecina, ka Jēzus ir Dieva Dēls, tanī paliek Dievs un viņš Dievā.
16And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
16Un mēs pazinām un ticējām tai mīlestībai, kas Dievam ir uz mums. Dievs ir mīlestība, un, kas paliek mīlestībā, tas paliek Dievā un Dievs viņā.
17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
17Ar to Dieva mīlestība kļuvusi pie mums pilnīga, ka mums ir paļāvība tiesas dienā, jo tāpat kā Viņš ir, arī mēs esam šinī pasaulē.
18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
18Mīlestībā nav baiļu, bet pilnīga mīlestība aizdzen bailes, jo bailes rada mokas; kas bīstas, tas nav pilnīgs mīlestībā.
19We love him, because he first loved us.
19Tātad mīlēsim Dievu, jo Dievs pirmāk mūs mīlējis.
20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
20Ja kāds saka: Es mīlu Dievu un ienīstu savu brāli, tas ir melis. Jo kā tas, kas nemīl savu brāli, ko viņš redz, var mīlēt Dievu, ko neredz?
21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
21Un mums no Dieva šis bauslis: kas mīl Dievu, tas lai mīl arī savu brāli!
