¹For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:

¹Jūs paši zināt, brāļi, ka mūsu ierašanās pie jums nebija veltīga.

²But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

²Paļaudamies uz mūsu Dievu, mēs sludinām jums Dieva evaņģēliju visā rūpībā, lai gan iepriekš Filipos, kā jūs to zināt, mums bija jācieš un jāpanes apvainojumi.

³For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:

³Jo ne maldi, ne nekrietnība, ne viltība ir mūsu sludināšanas cēlonis,

⁴But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.

⁴Bet Dievs mūs atradis cienīgus, lai uzticētu mums evaņģēliju. Tādēļ mēs sludinām, izpatikdami ne cilvēkiem, bet Dievam, kas pārbauda mūsu sirdis.

⁵For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:

⁵Jo Dievs ir liecinieks, ka mēs nekad, kā zināt, neuzstājamies ar glaimu runām vai mantkārīgos nolūkos.

⁶Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

⁶Un mēs nemeklējam godināšanu no cilvēkiem: ne no jums, ne no citiem.

⁷But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:

⁷Būdami Kristus apustuļi, mēs drīkstējām jūs apgrūtināt, bet starp jums mēs bijām pilni pazemības kā māte, kas rūpējas par saviem bērniem.

⁸So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

⁸Tā, jūs mīlēdami, mēs ļoti vēlējāmies ne vien Dieva evaņģēliju jums dot, bet pat savas dzīvības, jo jūs kļuvāt mums ļoti mīļi.

⁹For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

⁹Jo jūs atminaties, brāļi, mūsu darbu un pūles: strādādami naktīm un dienām, lai nevienu no jums neapgrūtinātu, mēs sludinājām Dieva evaņģēliju.

¹⁰Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:

¹⁰Jūs un Dievs esat liecinieki, cik svēti un taisnīgi, un nevainojami mēs izturējāmies pret jums, ticīgajiem,

¹¹As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,

¹¹Jums tas zināms, ka mēs katru no jums (kā tēvs savus bērnus)

¹²That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.

¹²Lūdzām, pamudinājām un pārliecinājām dzīvot tā, lai jūs būtu sava Dieva cienīgi, kas jūs aicinājis savā valstībā un godībā.

¹³For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

¹³Tāpēc mēs arī pateicamies Dievam bez mitēšanās, ka jūs Dieva vārdu, kuru no mums dzirdējāt, pieņēmāt ne kā cilvēku mācību, bet (kā tas patiesībā ir) kā Dieva vārdu, jo Viņš jūsos, kas esat ticīgi, darbojas,

¹⁴For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:

¹⁴Jo jūs, brāļi, esat sekotāji tām Dieva draudzēm, kas dzīvo Jēzum Kristum Jūdejā, jo jūs tāpat esat cietuši no saviem tautiešiem, kā arī viņi no jūdiem,

¹⁵Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:

¹⁵Kas nonāvēja Kungu Jēzu un praviešus, kas arī mūs vajāja; bet Dievam tie nepatīk, un viņi ir naidā ar visiem cilvēkiem.

¹⁶Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁶Viņi liedz mums sludināt pagāniem pestīšanu; tā viņi allaž piepilda savu grēku mēru, jo Dieva dusmas nākušas pār viņiem līdz galam.

¹⁷But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

¹⁷Bet mēs, brāļi, šķirti no jums uz īsu laiku ārīgi, ne sirdī, savās lielajās ilgās jo vairāk steidzamies redzēt jūsu vaigu.

¹⁸Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.

¹⁸Jo mēs, sevišķi es, Pāvils, gribējām vienreiz un otrreiz apmeklēt jūs, bet sātans mūs aizkavēja.

¹⁹For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?

¹⁹Jo kas ir mūsu cerība un prieks, un godības vainags? Vai ne jūs, mūsu Kunga Jēzus Kristus priekšā, Viņam atnākot?

²⁰For ye are our glory and joy.

²⁰Jo jūs esat mūsu godība un prieks.
