¹Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

¹Tāpēc, nevarēdami ilgāk paciest, nolēmām palikt Atēnās vieni.

²And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:

²Un mēs sūtījām mūsu brāli Timoteju, Kristus evaņģēlija Dieva kalpu, lai viņš jūs stiprinātu un pamudinātu ticībā,

³That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

³Lai neviens tagadējos spaidos nesāktu šaubīties, jo jūs paši zināt, ka tam mēs lemti.

⁴For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

⁴Jo arī tad, kad bijām pie jums, mēs jums pasludinājām, ka mums būs jācieš apspiešanas, un, kā jūs zināt, tas tā arī notika.

⁵For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

⁵Tāpēc es, nevarēdams ilgāk paciest, sūtīju uzzināt, kā ir ar jūsu ticību, vai kārdinātājs nav ievedis jūs kārdināšanā un vai mūsu darbs nav bijis veltīgs.

⁶But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

⁶Bet tagad Timotejs no jums atnāca pie mums un pavēstīja mums par jūsu ticību un mīlestību, un ka jūs vienmēr paturat mūs labā piemiņā, ilgodamies mūs redzēt, tāpat kā mēs jūs.

⁷Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

⁷Tāpēc, brāļi, jūsu ticības dēļ mēs tikām iepriecināti visos mūsu trūkumos un apspiešanā.

⁸For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

⁸Ja jūs tagad pastāvat Kungā, tad mēs dzīvojam.

⁹For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

⁹Jo ar kādu pateicību mēs varam jūsu dēļ pateikties Kungam par lielo prieku, ko izjūtam mūsu Dieva priekšā par jums?

¹⁰Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

¹⁰Dienu un nakti mēs ļoti lūdzam Dievu, lai redzētu jūs vaigā un papildinātu to, kas jūsu ticībai vēl trūkst.

¹¹Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

¹¹Bet mūsu Dievs un Tēvs un mūsu Kungs Jēzus Kristus lai virza mūsu ceļu pie jums!

¹²And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

¹²Bet Kungs lai pavairo un bagātus jūs dara mīlestībā savā starpā un ar visiem, tāpat kā mēs ar jums.

¹³To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

¹³Un lai stiprina jūsu sirdis, ka tās svētumā būtu nevainojamas mūsu Dieva un Tēva priekšā, kad atnāks mūsu Kungs Jēzus Kristus kopā ar visiem saviem svētajiem. Amen.
