¹And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.

¹Un Viņš, iegājis Jērikā, gāja tai cauri.

²And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.

²Un, lūk, kāds cilvēks, vārdā Zahejs, kas bija muitnieku priekšnieks un bagāts,

³And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.

³Meklēja Jēzu redzēt, kas Viņš ir, un nevarēja ļaužu dēļ, jo bija mazs augumā.

⁴And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.

⁴Un tas, paskrējis uz priekšu, uzkāpa vīģes kokā, lai Viņu redzētu, jo tur Viņam bija jāiet garām.

⁵And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house.

⁵Un kad Jēzus atnāca tai vietā, Viņš, uz augšu paskatījies, ieraudzīja to un sacīja viņam: Zahej, kāp steigšus zemē, jo šodien man jāpaliek tavā namā!

⁶And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.

⁶Un tas steigšus nokāpa un uzņēma Viņu ar prieku.

⁷And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.

⁷To redzot, visi kurnēja, sacīdami, ka Viņš apmeties pie grēcīga cilvēka.

⁸And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.

⁸Bet Zahejs piecēlies sacīja Kungam: Lūk, Kungs, pusi no savas mantas es atdodu nabagiem; un es atdošu četrkārtīgi, ja es kādam to būtu nokrāpis.

⁹And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.

⁹Jēzus sacīja viņam: Šodien šim namam notikusi pestīšana, jo arī šis ir Ābrahama dēls.

¹⁰For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

¹⁰Jo Cilvēka Dēls nācis meklēt un pestīt to, kas bija zudis.

¹¹And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.

¹¹Tiem klausoties, Viņš turpināja un sacīja līdzību, jo Viņš bija tuvu Jeruzalemei; un tie domāja, ka Dieva valstība tūliņ parādīsies.

¹²He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

¹²Viņš sacīja: Kāds dižciltīgs cilvēks aizgāja tālās zemēs, lai iegūtu sev valsti un atgrieztos atpakaļ.

¹³And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.

¹³Un viņš, pasaucis savus desmit kalpus, deva tiem desmit minas un sacīja viņiem: Tirgojieties, kamēr es pārnākšu!

¹⁴But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.

¹⁴Bet viņa pilsoņi ienīda to; un tie sūtīja sūtņus viņam pakaļ un sacīja: Mēs nevēlamies, ka šis valdītu pār mums.

¹⁵And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

¹⁵Un notika, ka viņš, valsti ieguvis, atgriezās atpakaļ un lika pasaukt kalpus, kuriem viņš bija devis naudu, lai uzzinātu, cik katrs ietirgojis.

¹⁶Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

¹⁶Tad nāca pirmais un sacīja: Kungs, tava mina nopelnīja desmit minas.

¹⁷And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.

¹⁷Viņš tam sacīja: Pareizi, labais kalps, tu biji uzticams mazās lietās; tu valdīsi pār desmit pilsētām.

¹⁸And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

¹⁸Un otrs atnāca un sacīja: Kungs, tava mina nopelnīja piecas minas.

¹⁹And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.

¹⁹Un viņš tam sacīja: Arī tu valdi pār piecām pilsētām.

²⁰And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:

²⁰Un vēl cits nāca un sacīja: Kungs, še ir tava mina. Es to biju noglabājis sviedrautā.

²¹For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

²¹Jo es baidījos tevis, tāpēc ka tu esi bargs cilvēks: tu ņem, ko neesi nolicis, un pļauj, ko neesi sējis.

²²And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:

²²Viņš sacīja tam: Nekrietnais kalps, ar tavu muti es tevi tiesāju. Tu zināji, ka esmu bargs cilvēks, kas ņem, ko nav nolicis, un pļauj, ko nav sējis.

²³Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?

²³Un kāpēc tu neatdevi manu naudu maiņgaldā, lai es pārnācis atprasītu to ar augļiem!

²⁴And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.

²⁴Un klātesošiem viņš teica: Atņemiet viņam minu un dodiet tam, kam desmit minas!

²⁵(And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)

²⁵Un tie sacīja viņam: Kungs, viņam jau desmit minas!

²⁶For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

²⁶Bet es jums saku: katram, kam ir, tiks dots, lai viņam būtu pārpilnība; bet no tā, kam nav, tiks ņemts arī tas, kas viņam ir. (Mt.13,12; 25,29; Mk.4,25)

²⁷But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

²⁷Bet tos manus ienaidniekus, kas negribēja, lai es pār viņiem valdītu, atvediet šurp un nogaliniet manā priekšā!

²⁸And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem.

²⁸Un to teicis, Viņš, iedams uz Jeruzalemi, turpināja ceļu.

²⁹And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples,

²⁹Un notika, kad Viņš tuvojās Betfāgai un Betānijai pie kalna, kas saucas Olīvkalns, ka Viņš sūtīja divus savus mācekļus,

³⁰Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither.

³⁰Sacīdams: Ejiet uz miestu, kas jūsu priekšā! Un jūs ieiedami atradīsiet piesietu ēzeļa mātes kumeļu, uz kura vēl neviens cilvēks nav sēdējis; atraisiet to un atvediet!

³¹And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.

³¹Un ja kāds jūs jautās, kāpēc jūs to atraisāt, tad sakiet viņam tā: Kungs vēlas tā pakalpojumu.

³²And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them.

³²Un tie, kas bija sūtīti, aizgāja un atrada kumeļu stāvam, kā viņš tiem bija sacījis.

³³And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt?

³³Bet kad viņi raisīja kumeļu vaļā, tā īpašnieki sacīja tiem: Kāpēc jūs atraisāt kumeļu?

³⁴And they said, The Lord hath need of him.

³⁴Un viņi atbildēja: Kungam to vajag.

³⁵And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.

³⁵Un viņi atveda to pie Jēzus. Un viņi, savas drēbes kumeļam uzklājuši, uzsēdināja Jēzu.

³⁶And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.

³⁶Bet, Viņam jājot, tie izklāja savas drēbes ceļā.

³⁷And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;

³⁷Un kad Viņš jau tuvojās Olīvkalna nogāzei, viss mācekļu pulks sāka priecīgi skaļā balsī godināt Dievu par visiem brīnumiem, ko viņi bija redzējuši,

³⁸Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

³⁸Sacīdami: Svētīgs, Ķēniņš, kas nāk Kunga vārdā! Miers debesīs un gods augstībā!

³⁹And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.

³⁹Un daži farizeji ļaužu pulkā sacīja Viņam: Mācītāj, apsauc savus mācekļus!

⁴⁰And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

⁴⁰Viņš tiem sacīja: Es jums saku: ja viņi klusētu, kliegtu akmeņi.

⁴¹And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

⁴¹Un Viņš, pienācis tuvāk un uzlūkodams pilsētu, raudāja par to, sacīdams:

⁴²Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.

⁴²Kaut jel arī tu atzītu un pat šinī tavā dienā, kas pie tava miera vajadzīgs! Bet tagad tas apslēpts tavām acīm:

⁴³For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,

⁴³Jo nāks dienas pār tevi, kad tavi ienaidnieki aplenks tevi vaļņiem; un tie ielenks tevi un spiedīs tevi no visām pusēm;

⁴⁴And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

⁴⁴Un viņi nospiedīs tevi zemē un tavus bērnus, kas tevī ir, un neatstās tevī akmeni uz akmens, tāpēc ka tu neatzini savas piemeklēšanas dienu.

⁴⁵And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;

⁴⁵Un Viņš, iegājis svētnīcā, sāka dzīt ārā tos, kas tanī pārdeva un pirka,

⁴⁶Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

⁴⁶Sacīdams viņiem: Ir rakstīts: mans nams ir lūgšanas nams, bet jūs esat padarījuši to par slepkavu bedri. (Is.56,7; Jer.7,11)

⁴⁷And he taught daily in the temple. But the chief priests and the scribes and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

⁴⁷Un viņš katru dienu mācīja svētnīcā. Bet augstie priesteri un rakstu mācītāji, un tautas priekšnieki meklēja Viņu nonāvēt;

⁴⁸And could not find what they might do: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.

⁴⁸Un tie neizprata, ko Viņam darīt, jo visa tauta neatlaidīgi klausījās Viņā.
