¹And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

¹Bet vēl Viņš tiem stāstīja līdzību par to, ka vienmēr vajag Dievu lūgt un nepagurt,

²Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:

²Sacīdams: Vienā pilsētā bija kāds tiesnesis, kas Dieva nebijās un no cilvēkiem nekaunējās.

³And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.

³Bet kāda atraitne bija tanī pilsētā; un viņa nāca pie viņa un sacīja: Aizstāvi mani pret manu pretinieku!

⁴And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;

⁴Un tas ilgu laiku negribēja. Bet pēc tam viņš sevī sacīja: Lai gan es Dieva nebaidos un no cilvēkiem nekaunos,

⁵Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.

⁵Tomēr, lai šī atraitne mani neapgrūtinātu, es spriedīšu tiesu, ka viņa, beigās atnākusi, neuzbruktu man.

⁶And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.

⁶Bet Kungs sacīja: Klausieties, ko netaisnais tiesnesis saka!

⁷And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?

⁷Un vai Dievs lai nespriestu taisnīgu tiesu saviem izredzētajiem, kas dienu un nakti Viņu piesauc, un nebūtu pacietīgs ar viņiem?

⁸I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

⁸Es jums saku, ka Viņš drīz tiem spriedīs taisnīgu tiesu. Tomēr, kā rādās, vai Cilvēka Dēls atnācis atradīs ticību virs zemes?

⁹And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:

⁹Bet tiem, kas sevi uzskatīja taisnīgus esam un citus nicināja, Viņš sacīja šo līdzību:

¹⁰Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

¹⁰Divi cilvēki iegāja svētnīcā Dievu lūgt. Viens bija farizejs un otrs muitnieks.

¹¹The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.

¹¹Farizejs nostājies sevī tā lūdza: Es tev pateicos, Dievs, ka es neesmu tāds, kā citi cilvēki: laupītāji, netaisnīgi, laulības pārkāpēji vai arī kā šis muitnieks!

¹²I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

¹²Es gavēju divreiz nedēļā un dodu desmito tiesu no visa, kas man ir.

¹³And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.

¹³Bet muitnieks, tālāk stāvēdams, negribēja pat acis pacelt pret debesīm, bet, sitot pie savām krūtīm, sacīja: Dievs, esi man, grēciniekam žēlīgs!

¹⁴I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴Es jums saku: šis aizgāja savās mājās attaisnots, bet tas ne. Jo katrs, kas sevi paaugstina, tiks pazemināts.

¹⁵And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

¹⁵Bet arī bērnus Viņam atnesa, lai Viņš tiem pieskartos. Kad mācekļi to redzēja, tie norāja tos.

¹⁶But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

¹⁶Bet Jēzus pasauca viņus un sacīja: Laidiet bērnus pie manis nākt un neliedziet viņiem to, jo tādiem pieder Dieva valstība!

¹⁷Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

¹⁷Patiesi es jums saku: kas Dieva valstību nepieņems kā bērns, tas tanī neieies.

¹⁸And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?

¹⁸Un kāds priekšnieks jautāja Viņam, sacīdams: Labais Mācītāj, kas man jādara, lai es iemantotu mūžīgo dzīvi?

¹⁹And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.

¹⁹Bet Jēzus viņam sacīja: Kāpēc tu mani sauc par labo? Neviens nav labs, kā vienīgi Dievs.

²⁰Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

²⁰Baušļus tu zini: tev nebūs nokaut; tev nebūs laulību pārkāpt; tev nebūs zagt; tev nebūs nepatiesu liecību dot; tev būs tēvu un māti godāt.

²¹And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.

²¹Tas sacīja: To visu esmu izpildījis kopš jaunības.

²²Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.

²²Jēzus, to dzirdēdams, sacīja viņam: Vēl viena tev trūkst: pārdod visu, kas tev pieder, un dod nabagiem, tad tev būs manta debesīs, un nāc, seko man!

²³And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.

²³To dzirdēdams, viņš noskuma, jo bija ļoti bagāts.

²⁴And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

²⁴Bet Jēzus, redzēdams viņu noskumušu, sacīja: Cik grūti tiem, kam nauda, ieiet Dieva valstībā!

²⁵For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

²⁵Vieglāk kamielim iziet caur adatas aci, nekā bagātam ieiet Dieva valstībā.

²⁶And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved?

²⁶Tad tie, kas dzirdēja, sacīja: Un kas tad var kļūt pestīts?

²⁷And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.

²⁷Viņš tiem sacīja: Kas cilvēkiem nav iespējams, tas iespējams Dievam.

²⁸Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

²⁸Bet Pēteris sacīja: Lūk, mēs visu atstājām un sekojām Tev.

²⁹And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake,

²⁹Viņš tiem teica: Patiesi es jums saku: nav neviena, kas atstājis māju vai vecākus, vai brāļus, vai sievu, vai bērnus Dieva valstības dēļ

³⁰Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

³⁰Un kas nesaņem daudz vairāk jau šinī laikā, bet nākošajā mūžā mūžīgo dzīvi.

³¹Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

³¹Bet Jēzus ņēma tos divpadsmit sev līdz un sacīja viņiem: Lūk, mēs ejam uz Jeruzalemi; un viss izpildīsies, ko pravieši rakstījuši par Cilvēka Dēlu.

³²For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

³²Jo Viņu nodos pagāniem un apsmies, un šaustīs, un apspļaudīs,

³³And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

³³Un pēc šaustīšanas Viņu nonāvēs, bet trešajā dienā Viņš celsies augšām.

³⁴And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

³⁴Bet no tā viņi neko nesaprata; un šis vārds palika tiem apslēpts; un viņi neaptvēra to, kas tika runāts.

³⁵And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:

³⁵Bet notika, kad Viņš tuvojās Jērikai, kāds aklais sēdēja ceļmalā un ubagoja.

³⁶And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.

³⁶Un, kad viņš dzirdēja ļaužu pulku garām ejam, tas jautāja, kas tas ir.

³⁷And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.

³⁷Bet viņam pateica, ka Jēzus Nācarietis iet garām.

³⁸And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me.

³⁸Tad viņš sauca, sacīdams: Jēzu, Dāvida Dēls, apžēlojies par mani!

³⁹And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou son of David, have mercy on me.

³⁹Bet tie, kas gāja priekšā, norāja viņu, lai viņš ciestu klusu. Bet viņš vēl skaļāk sauca: Dāvida Dēls, apžēlojies par mani!

⁴⁰And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,

⁴⁰Tad Jēzus apstājies lika viņu atvest pie sevis. Un kad tas tuvojās, viņš jautāja tam,

⁴¹Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.

⁴¹Sacīdams: Ko tu gribi, lai es tev daru? Bet viņš sacīja: Kungs, lai es redzu!

⁴²And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.

⁴²Un Jēzus sacīja viņam: Topi redzīgs, tava ticība tevi glābusi.

⁴³And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God.

⁴³Un tūdaļ viņš kļuva redzīgs un, Dievu godinādams, sekoja Viņam. Un visa tauta, to redzēdama, godināja Dievu.
