1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
1Ko tad lai sakām? Vai paliksim grēkā, lai vairojas žēlastība?
2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
2Nekādā ziņā! Jo kā lai mēs, kas esam miruši grēkam, vēl tanī dzīvojam?
3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
3Vai jūs nezināt, ka mēs visi, kas esam kristīti Jēzū Kristū, esam kristīti Viņa nāvē?
4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
4Jo mēs kristībā līdz ar Viņu esam apbedīti nāvei, lai, kā Kristus caur Tēva godību uzcēlās no miroņiem, tāpat arī mēs dzīvotu atjaunotajā dzīvē.
5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
5Jo ja mēs nāves līdzībā ar Viņu esam saauguši, tad reizē līdzīgi būsim arī augšāmceļoties.
6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
6To mēs zinām, ka mūsu vecais cilvēks ticis līdzi krustā sists, lai grēcīgā miesa tiktu iznīcināta un mēs vairs nekalpotu grēkam.
7For he that is dead is freed from sin.
7Jo kas ir miris, tas ir no grēka attaisnots.
8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
8Bet ja mēs esam miruši līdz ar Kristu, tad mēs ticam, ka mēs arī dzīvosim kopā ar Kristu,
9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
9Zinādami, ka Kristus, no miroņiem uzcēlies, vairs nemirst, nāve pār Viņu vairs nevaldīs.
10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
10Jo, mirdams grēkam, Viņš ir miris reiz par visām reizēm, bet dzīvodams Viņš dzīvo Dievam.
11Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
11Tā arī jūs esiet pārliecināti, ka jūs, miruši grēkam, dzīvojat Dievam mūsu Kungā Jēzū Kristū.
12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
12Tāpēc lai grēks vairs nevalda jūsu mirstīgajā miesā, un neklausiet tās kārībām!
13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
13Un nedodiet arī savus locekļus grēkam kā netaisnības ieročus, bet atdodiet sevi, kas no mirušajiem kļuvuši dzīvi, Dievam un savus locekļus par taisnības ieročiem Dievam!
14For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
14Tad grēks pār jums vairs nevaldīs, jo jūs neesat padoti likumam, bet žēlastībai.
15What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
15Kā tā? Vai lai grēkojam, kad mēs neesam padoti likumam, bet žēlastībai? Nekādā ziņā!
16Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
16Vai jūs nezināt, ka jūs esat tā kalpi, kam jūs paklausībā apņematies kalpot un arī kalpojat, vai tas būtu grēkam uz nāvi, vai paklausībai uz taisnību?
17But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
17Bet paldies Dievam, ka jūs, kas bijāt grēka vergi, no sirds esat kļuvuši paklausīgi tās mācības priekšrakstiem, kurai jūs tikāt padoti.
18Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
18No grēka atbrīvoti, jūs kļuvāt taisnības kalpi.
19I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
19Jūsu miesas vājības dēļ es runāju to, kas ir cilvēcīgi: kā jūs savus miesas locekļus bijāt nodevuši netiklības un netaisnības, un atkal netaisnības kalpībai, tā tagad atdodiet savus locekļus taisnības kalpošanai, lai kļūtu svēti!
20For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
20Jo kamēr jūs bijāt grēka vergi, jums trūka taisnības.
21What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
21Un kādus augļus jūs toreiz ieguvāt par to, no kā tagad kaunaties? Jo viņu gals ir nāve.
22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
22Bet tagad, kad jūs esat atbrīvoti no grēka un kļuvuši Dieva kalpi, jūsu ieguvums ir svēttapšana, un tās gala mērķis ir mūžīgā dzīve.
23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
23Jo grēka alga ir nāve, bet Dieva dāvana ir mūžīgā dzīve mūsu Kungā Jēzū Kristū.
