1Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
1मग तेमानीच्या अलीफजने उत्तर दिले:
2Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
2“देवाला आपल्या मदतीची गरज आहे का? नाही. अतिशय विद्वान माणसाचा सुध्दा देवाला फारसा उपयोग नाही.
3Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?
3तुमचे योग्य तऱ्हेने जगणे देवाला काही मदत करते का? नाही. तुम्ही त्या सर्वशक्तिमान देवाचे अनुसरण केलेत तर त्यातून त्याला काही मिळते का? नाही.
4Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?
4“ईयोब, देवाने तुला दोषी ठरवून शिक्षा का द्यावी? तू त्याला भितोस तू त्याची भक्ती करतोस म्हणून?
5Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?
5“नाही. तो तसे करतो कारण तू खूप पाप केले आहेस. ईयोब, तू पाप करणे कधीच थांबवले नाहीस.
6For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.
6कदाचित् तू तुझ्या भावाला काही पैसे दिले असशील आणि त्याने ते परत करावे म्हणून त्याच्याकडून एखादी वस्तू गहाण ठेवून घेतली असशील. कदाचित् तू गरीबाकडून त्याची वस्त्रे पैशासाठी गहाण ठेवून घेतली असशील. तसे करण्याला कदाचित् काही सबळ कारणही नसेल.
7Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.
7तू कदाचित् थकलेल्या आणि भुकेल्या लोकांना पाणी आणि अन्न दिले नसशील.
8But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.
8ईयोब, तुझ्याकडे पुष्कळ शेतजमीत आहे आणि लोक तुला मान देतात.
9Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.
9पण कदाचित् तू विधवांना काहीही न देता घालवून दिले असशील, ईयोब, तू कदाचित पोरक्या मुलांची फसवणूक केली असशील.
10Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;
10म्हणूनच तुझ्या भोवती सापळे आहेत आणि अचानक आलेल्या संकटांनी तू घाबरुन जात आहेस.
11Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.
11म्हणूनच सर्वत्र इतका अंधार आहे की तुला काही दिसत नाही आणि तू पुराच्या पाण्याने चहुबाजूंनी वेढला आहेस.
12Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!
12“देव स्वर्गाच्या सर्वात उंच भागात राहतो. तारे किती उंचावर आहेत ते बघ. देव सर्वात उंच ताऱ्यांमधून खाली वाकून बघतो,
13And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?
13पण ईयोब, तू कदाचित् म्हणशील देवाला काय समजते? देव काळ्याकुटृ ढाांतून आपल्याकडे बघून निवाडा करु शकतो का?
14Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.
14आकाशाच्या किनाऱ्यावरुन चालताना त्याने आपल्याला बघू नये म्हणून दाट ढग त्याला आपल्यापासून लपवतात.
15Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?
15“ईयोब, दुष्ट लोक पूर्वी ज्या जुन्या वाटेवरुन चालत गेले त्याच वाटेवरुन आज तू चालतो आहेस.
16Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:
16त्या दुष्टांना मरणघाटिका जवळ येण्यापूर्वीच त्यांचा नाश करण्यात आला. ते पुरात वाहून गेले.
17Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?
17त्या लोकांनी देवाला सांगितले, ‘आम्हाला एकटे सोड तो सर्वशक्तिमान देव आम्हाला काहीही करु शकत नाही.’
18Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
18आणि देवानेच त्याची घरे चांगल्या वस्तूंनी भरली होती. नाही मी दुष्टांच्या उपदेशाचे पालन करु शकत नाही.
19The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
19चांगले लोक दुष्टांचे निर्दालन झालेले पाहतील आणि संतोष पावतील. भोळे लोक वाईट लोकांना हसतात.
20Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
20“खरोखरच आमच्या शत्रूंचा नाश झाला आहे. त्यांची संपत्ती आगीत नष्ट होत आहे.’
21Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
21“ईयोब, तू आता देवाला शरण जा. त्याच्याशी सलोखा कर. तू हे केलेस तर तुला खूप चांगल्या गोष्टी मिळतील.
22Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
22त्यांच्या वचनांचा स्विकार कर. तो काय म्हणतो त्याकडे नीट लक्ष दे.
23If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
23ईयोब, तू सर्वशक्तिमान देवाकडे परत ये म्हणजे तुझी स्थिती पूर्ववत् होईल. परंतु तू तुझ्या घरातून वाईट गोष्टींचे उच्चाटन केले पाहिजेस.
24Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
24तू तुझ्या जवळ असलेल्या सोन्याला मातीमोल मानले पाहिजेस. तू तुझ्या सर्वात चांगल्या सोन्याला दरीतल्या दगडाएवढी किंमत दिली पाहिजेस.
25Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.
25सर्वशक्तिमान देवच तुझे सोने असू दे. त्यालाच तुझा चांदीचा ढीग समज.
26For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
26नंतर तू सर्वशक्तिमान देवाला अनुभवू शकशील. तू त्याच्याकडे बघू शकशील.
27Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
27तू त्याची प्रार्थना करशील आणि तो तुझे ऐकेल आणि ज्या गोष्टी करण्याचे तू वचन दिले होतेस त्या गोष्टी तू करशील.
28Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
28तू जर काही करायचे ठरवलेस तर तू त्यात यशस्वी होशील. आणि तुझा भविष्यकाळ खरोखरच उज्ज्वल असेल.
29When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
29देव अहंकारी लोकांना मान खाली घालायला लावतो. परंतु विनम्र लोकांना तो मदत करतो.
30He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
30नंतर तू चुका करणाऱ्या लोकांना मदत करु शकशील. तू देवाजवळ प्रार्थना केलीस तर तो त्या लोकांना क्षमा करेल. का? कारण तू अतिशय पवित्र असशील.”
